You put up the V2L specs for a UK or EU cars that have a 240V outlet, for north American cars the limit is 1800W. The amps are still the same (15A) but 120V gives half the watts vs. the 240V countries. Also in north America it's 60Hz, not 50Hz.
New Ioniq 5 owner here. Great videos! You're very informative and entertaining, so keep it up! Sorry about the battery drain issue. Hopefully, they've addressed that with the 2024 models.
Hi Carlos, Thanks for all your work. The tips are greatly appreciated by newbies. Just a note regarding utility mode: You can lock the car with utility mode engaged by using the emergency manual key.
In regards to the V2L plug being locked when the car is unlocked, I think it might be due to the settings in the car regarding locking chargers when in use. I don't have a V2L plug, but I have my IONIQ 5 set to lock the charging port while charging. It autounlocks when charging is finished or if I unlock the car using the fob. My bet is that if you change the settings in the car to always unlocked charging port, you can remove it without unlocking via the fob, but then you open up the ability for others to unplug your car when charging.
Thank you so much, Carlos. Your videos are excellent and I very much appreciate them with my new and fabulous 2022 Ioniq 5 Limted. Just had my level two charger stalled in my garage today. I do remain concerned, however, with having purchased the first model year of this car.
Hey Thomas! Congratulations on your new Ioniq 5 and getting the charger installed! I wouldn’t worry about anything as long as the dealership has updated your car and has done all the service campaigns. You can always check by going to the Hyundai website and typing in your vin number. As long as it’s clear then it’s been fully updated. Again I’ve had my used 2022 for almost 2 years and the only real issue I had was the charging door once didn’t open and it was replaced under warranty immediately. I hope you enjoy your car and thanks for watching!
Great video. Looks like the easiest filter change in the industry. Also, I wondered how I would eventually get my wipers not to hit the hood. There is a way to lock you car in utility mode or even when it's running. I thought that's what you were going to show when you opened the window. Here is the way. Open the window all the way. Reach inside and press the lock button. Immediately press the window up button. Your car is now locked. There's is only one way to open it. Slide out the physical from the FOB. Push on the handle on either the driver of passenger door. Use the physical key to unlock the door. The app won't work do it and neither will the FOB button. I think it would be an easy software update to allow it and I don't know why it doesn't. Our Nissan Ariya lets you look it while it's running with the key FOB.
The wiper arm will chip the windshield if allowed to snap against the glass. Chips can lead to cracks. Always put down a cushion when you start the procedure.
Hey Carlos - thanks much for sharing your knowledge!! Really enjoy your videos and especially like your pooch, Lisa. My wife and I just picked up a used 2022 RWD Ioniq 5 SE. Are we nuts or is there really no way to open the back hatch/lift gate from the inside?
Congrats on your new car! I hope you love it as much as I do. I can confirm I have not found an easy way to open the hatch from the inside. I believe in the manual there is an emergency way to open it but not really a friendly easy way of opening it unfortunately. If you find out anything please let me know! Thanks for watching!
Hey Carlos - Just bought my Ioniq 5 today and really enjoying your videos. Question for you.... I have always used Waze on my Apple phone for navigation., mounted on my dash. Is there any way to use Waze in the screen rather than their Nav system? Do you like their system?
Hey Jeff, Are you asking if you could replace Apple Maps to Waze when you use CarPlay? Or are you asking if you could replace the on board navigation from Hyundai with Waze? Because there is no way to change the software on the car so the navigation is what it is. However if you use CarPlay there isn't a way to change the default..yet. They are going to release an iOS update soon where you are able to do that. Thanks again for watching!
Alright, imagine you're driving and you come to a stop at a traffic light or on a hill. The Auto Hold feature is super helpful and holds your car in place automatically, almost like when you pull up the handbrake. So, you don't have to keep pressing down on the brake pedal with your foot to keep the car from moving. It stays put until you decide it's time to go again, and then you just press the accelerator pedal, and off you go! It's like having a little extra helper making driving easier, especially when you're stuck in traffic or waiting on a steep hill. So, no more constantly switching between the brake and accelerator pedals - the Auto Hold does it for you! Easy peasy! Thank you so much for watching and enjoy your Ioniq 5!
Additionally, If you have to exit the vehicle for the car wash, holding the OK button is necessary. Otherwise, the car will shift to park when the door is opened. If you stay in the car, you don’t need to hold the button. Just shift to neutral and enjoy the ride.
To be honest I haven't figured out the best way to do this yet. Ive read that you can open it sliding something in the slot but it hasn't worked for me. Let me know if you find a solution.
I'm wondering what would happen when Hyundai decides to stop updating the maps. Will the information about chargers location be outdated and the car becomes a waste then?
@@ExploreWithCarlos Picking up a 2024 in a few days. Was waiting for 2025 but with the Canadian incentive cancelled it would be about $9,000 ($5000 incentive + $3000 reduced - taxes) more for the 2025. Thanks for helping me learn more about it.
@@ExploreWithCarlos well yeah they sell blades it's 12$ for both sides ands it takes a minute to replace them and your wipers will work like new again...

You have a great way of explaining things. Very helpful. Don't apologize 😂

I think you’re right. I was thinking about it and yeah it’s more of a security feature but I have read people’s frustration online about it.

good on you for owning up to the mistake of misinforming. this is really great to know!

Can you explain what the auto hold button is actually for ? I just purchased a 2024 Hyundai ioniq 5 and what learning curve!

Oh! Thank you for that explanation
Great vid as always, very informative
@9:25 have you tried keeping the door "latched" but not closed all the way? and locking it from the outside?
I have not tried that yet.
For "Carwash mode" you don't have to change anything regarding the regenn. Just disable auto hold, get it in neutral.
Additionally, If you have to exit the vehicle for the car wash, holding the OK button is necessary. Otherwise, the car will shift to park when the door is opened. If you stay in the car, you don’t need to hold the button. Just shift to neutral and enjoy the ride.
Thanks for adding this. Sorry Ive read different things and ive only had a car wash once where I had to turn off everything.
Just got mine 84 kw uk mode 👍
Congratulations! Hope you enjoy it! I’ve had the best experience with mine
@ I’ll keep u updated 👍
Is there a way to deactivate the alert that always appears when you start the vehicle? Ito gotten annoying.
Not that I know of. It is very annoying haha.
Fun fact I just learned hit unlock on key fob then hold it 5 seconds it rolls down front windows….😊
Wow I did not know that! Thanks for sharing! I just tried it and it works!!
Lets say I sleep in the back with the car in utility mode. How do I open the tailgate? The key fob don’t seem to work.
To be honest I haven't figured out the best way to do this yet. Ive read that you can open it sliding something in the slot but it hasn't worked for me. Let me know if you find a solution.
To lock the car while in utility mode, roll down the window and lock it like you did, then roll the window up using the button on the key fob.
I learned this trick from another comment. It works really well, just hate that it's our only option lol. Thanks for the advice!
Just a clarification - you only need to turn off Auto Hold if you had turned it on previously.
Correct! Thanks for clarifying.
Thanks for your comments Carlos. Have you tried to tow anything yet?
Hey! Thanks for watching! I have not tried towing anything yet. Possibly in the future
In utility mode just lock the door with the key inside the fob... NEVER let a fob inside the car when you do that.
Why?
@@Fred70115 To avoid the car being stole....
This tip has helped me. Thanks!
Good vid, background noise was weird.. Ice-cream truck?
I dont remember lol but I will work on my audio more. Thanks for watching!

I think it will always be updated.
Hyundai should have warranted your battery. They have had many problems with their 12 volt batteries.
I agree.
6:58 Auto Lock? Maybe Auto Hold.
Yes Auto Hold, thanks for correcting me

Drill a hole in the bottom of the v2l cap, and water can run out. Problem solved.
Tempting
I believe Hyundai sell just the replacement BLADES for your wipers man i don't think you're meant to put a whole new set on these cars.
I think any car you can replace the whole wipers, I just chose to get the fancy bosh ones. Not sure about just changing the blades on the OEM
@@ExploreWithCarlos well yeah they sell blades it's 12$ for both sides ands it takes a minute to replace them and your wipers will work like new again...
