It is hard to describe how cool this feature was to witness, even with it being buggy and in a work in progress state. It makes me excited to see how both the Jump Points and server meshing will continue to evolve throughout the year and beyond. I look forward to driving a Polaris through these gates in the near future!
See you all in the next one.

It was indeed very cool to witness even though both times when I got it to work I went through backwards and died to the debris on the other side.

Also, for the people talking about "server meshing has already been done", as HybridV pointed out, it's not just about the amount of entities but the precision of the entities. This is the importance of 64-bit floating point precision for tracking complex entity positions with 64-bit integers. There is no MMO out there that has microcosmic entity tracking on a galactic scale with server-authority hand-off in real-time without refreshing the session entities or resetting the entitis to a static state.

As a developer, I knew the first test was to see if SM worked in the LIVE environment connected to the RL. Server handoff was the next logical test, and once that worked, they went to fixing edge cases, visuals, and other features for the build to be released. The good thing is the visuals are already done in the engine, so half of the work is done, as the network portions have to be ironed out. For example, if all 100 players try to jump simultaneously. Then they have to have things in place to prepare for the Wave 1 patch drop.

It's not only a Historical Moment for Star Citizen. It is a Historical Moment in gaming History. --- It is literally the "One Small Step For players. One Giant Leap for Game Technology." turning point where online gaming will feature Server Meshing technology on this level in games that are yet to be developed . Congratulation on being one of the first. o7

I know that lots of us would like to see the PTU footage but I respect the NDA on the PTU conditions and your continuing to follow them.

The Evocati tests are just to tune the system in prep for Pyro Playground 2.0 which will be open to a much larger pool of players. That will be open so you will see tons of vids and live streams and hopefully be able to jump yourself soon

smallest ship with a jump drive is the Aurora LX, the jump drive (and leather seats) were it's selling, the freelancer line was the largest ship at the time that could fit threw the smallest class of jump point, (that honor now belongs to the Zeus.)

I agree with the sentiment about seeing so many players waiting at the gate. It really gave the sense of what SC is trying to be. My first jump through the gate resulted in adding to the debris pile up. My 2nd time jumping from Stanton to Pyro, I was able to BARELY dodge through the debris of Caracks & 890 wrecks by rolling as I was yeeted forward. As for the Pyro to Stanton JP, you have to turn on your QT and fly towards the marker. You should be able to clear the dark area (use your ping like mad so you don't slam into the asteroids) and it should light up with the actual cloud area. I believe the dark area is a visual glitch. From there, you should be able to see the pylons that are supposed to lead toward the Jumpgate. Just navigate to those and then the gate itself should pop up. That should all be fixed though once this current test phase is done and they do the next build.

I made an IC about the JP being missing when you've already used the other one: STARC-101686 I had the exact same thing, no JP and no pingign or lights worked to show anything, it was just empty space, and when I exited the seat of my corsair poof, it vanished, and then there was a nebula around me and a jump point.

Actually, the Freelancer DUR was at some point the largest ship supposedly able to use the smallest jump points.

Just a thought, when this stuff becomes 'functional' will you be doing Jump Gate entrances and exits videos? Oh, by the way, did you notice that there are Hangars at some of the structures either side of the approach way to the Jump Gate? I am wondering if the same applies at the Magnus Jump Gate and that other one you can find in Stanton System.

Does the calling of the ATC mean that jump gate access will be 'allotted' via request, or will you have to occupy a 'slot' and wait your turn?

Im not even aure why we need jump drives. Surely the jump point should be doing the jump for us

Wouldn't you loved to have just TARGETED PYRO tho... you know, with star-jumping as a feature of your ship, kinda like how it worked (really well) in Star Wars for all those decades?

It's clear CIG wanted to make it work for all ships with a quantum drive, but they missed a lot of ships, mostly like the "ship + skin" stuff like BIS etc, and some alterantes of the "same" ship, like ion works, inferno doesn't, M2 doesn't work, other lifters work. Check spectrum forum for a thread detailing what ships work and which don't, you can transplant a QD from a ship that works into a ship that doesn't work, and it works. aUEC bought drives don't work, drives pulled from aUEC bought ships work (if the ship works). Harbinger is a great source of S2 mil b QD

Originally, the small ships were very limited in jump modules. The Aurora LX and Mustang Delta were some of the smallest ships with a jump module. At some point, CIG reworked the ships and now almost all of the ships that have a quantum drive are also listed as having a jump module. None of the Pisces are listed as having a jump module, though, so, I don't know how accurate the RSI Ship Matrix is.

When you described the wrecks of ships on the other side of the wormhole, it reminded me of Stargate SG-1 when they would close the metal iris barrier over the gate and people would die as they smash into upon arrival. Thank you for sharing your experience. Sounds like fun.

It'd be both cool and terrifying if you just get spat out into interstellar space if you wind up crashing into the sides of the jump point. Stuck there until your oxygen or supplies run out.

An entire 21 minute video of you talking about going through the points, and not a single clip of actually going through the jump point..... Legitimately disappointing tbh. I came here to see the jump, not watching you pvp for 21 minutes.

Oh my gosh...do you not understand anything about "Evocati is under NDA"? What point of "NDA" do you not comprehend... seriously...they aren't allowed to show footage, we can't see anything until the PTU. Your comment is probably one of the most inane I've seen in awhile, and that's saying something

    • @Nathanity

Evocati is under NDA. They legally cannot show anything to you. They are only allowed to speak about it.

@@ChristoffRevanI didn't even know what the fuck this "Evocati" shit was until this video, and the title gives the impression that it would show actual clips. Should probably put this "Evocati" thing into the title so people would know there's no actual gameplay so they don't waste time.
