- In Star Citizen, Invictus Launch Week went live over the weekend. With it came a free fly and the allowed rentals and sales of multiple military focused vessels from various manufacturers. Being that ILW takes place around ArcCorp and Area18 I decide to see how players handle their newly rented ships and how new players tackle the brand new Master Modes flight model change that came into 3.23

Started playing 2 days ago, pledged a Syulen. I am already landing like a pro using decouple mode and pitching up and stuff. It's just so satisfying, not needing to brake. Did my best landing today, almost perfectly centered. As all things should be.
Nothing beats that feeling right? Sooo goood :D
whatever the rating, he should get bonus points for landing under fire (duress being the technical term)

These have become my favorite thing on youtube lol. It's also made me very self conscious in game when taking off and landing knowing you could be "filming" lol. Great stuff!

I think the Carrack was me. I remember taking off and seeing a couple of C2s butts in my face.
This is like those boat dock watching videos, great stuff.
A18 is pretty rough right now, I'm getting stutters like never before, sometimes basically hanging for seconds. If only people wouldn't leave ships all over the place... Events are historically rough enough, now with persistence, the players are making it even worse. But, that's technically a good thing. CIG needs to see what happens when a place gets clogged up like that, so they can work on fixes.
There needs to be a way for salvage ships to take care of that. Whenever I have tried in the past to clean up old ships the game settings don't allow it.
Holy cow I think that first Carrack was me! I remember all the C2’s and mantis’s! And I remember someone following me and I was worried about it because I was alone trying to go load my C8R onboard lol

I'd give him an 8/10. He got the landing gear out early -1. He got shot by station security -1. He managed to land a broken and limping ship +8. He probably wasn't rated very high on Star Wars scale, but checked all boxes on Firefly scale. :P

I’m getting stutters in major cities as well. Glad to see it’s not just me.
I was playing the Ares Inferno for the first time and destroyed 4 enemy ships for a bounty mission and mission accomplished and earned 10,000 credits. It was Alot of fun 😊.
Great video. Keep an eye out for those trying to take off and land a C1 Spirit. To say the small hangers it gets assigned are a tight squeeze is an understatement!
at 6:25, its also possible the titan pilot was just boosting. Boost ignores the landing precision mode.

that migh very well been me flying and landing the blue connie, my friends ship first time flying it, depending on what day the footage was taken xD or even him landing it, and yes that area is super laggy and stuttery even landing.
thank you for this Video, the Informations and Gameplay are as clear as sound can get, even to the level where people that hear alot of sounds, know how much work you put into talking. . not alot of ppl can have a good voice recording . And dont say sorry ever . for talking,, ! Something that I have come across with clearing abandoned ships off landing pads with the SRV is: If the ship is boardable but not completely abandoned. A "trespasser" status will be applied to anyone that boards the ship that is not in a party with the owner and the station's defenses will just hammer on the ship that has a "trespasser" until shortly after they leave the ship or are killed with the ship.

maybe the stutter is from the 10+ c2s left around due to cargo bugs
So you can boost while the gear is down. The avenger would have just slowed way down after he lost boost unless he retracted gear
Making me double take if that was me in the first Connie and still getting used to it lol
also using boost in gear down mode you can go max speed.

Not had any issues with a18 personally I always seem to miss you when your watching landings 😂
I did some whoopsies with my C2 when landing (cruise control was on and I didn't realise). Luckily you weren't there.

Stutter prevents many with lower performance rigs from doing anything smoothly, and landings have to account for lower fps.
I am also getting really bad stuttering around Area18, so it’s definitely not just you. Best guess the sheer number of players, NPC’s and fleet week assets is putting pressure on the server in that locale which is causing this. It’s a shame because it really makes it hard to play when you get multiple second freeze ups.
To be honest, I usually take out the landing gears as soon as I get close to the hangar as it automatically caps the speed so you don't get any weird movements where your ship takes off into a wall at blazing speed for no reason and with no input from the player, this game does not handle kb+m very well, so I'll give myself every advantage I can get not to get screwed over by the flawed control scheme.
Before I started doing this I'd regularly have incident where I was going to adjust my angle just a little bit, I tap a button for 0.2 seconds, and all of a sudden my ship is in max speed going directly into a wall...
I personally don't like Drake but would love to see a medium/heavy fighter from them. They need more than just the Bucc
Are you referring to the "Death of a Spaceman" with the medical changes? I am for the "Death of a Spaceman" as Chris explains it on the website. Eager to see how this develops and how CIG makes it a rewarding and fun gameplay.
I know how it feels flying a Freelancer if it is your first time (or if it's been a long time) since I was landing like that for a bit (on the rental I picked up). Getting accustomed to how low the gear is and the view out of the cockpit throws you out a bit... who knows, that could have been me, I have been dropping the gear early lately while getting used to MM.

Also, how are you getting such amazing frames in A18? I’m running a 4080+ryzen7 and I can’t even approach that smoothness 😅

Hey the Area 18 stutters have been happening to me but only at the convention center for the even.
I'm fine with the changes of the respawn mechanics, a few years ago the devs said their intention was to have all beds respawn. The problem is that we don't have any downsides to respawn yet that are part of DOASM. Are the optics bad with the change happening the week of the sale of a medical vehicle? yes, but CIG always has terrible timing.
Can Verify, RAFT still needs VTOL, at least when taking off from ORISON.

Would like to see the default HOSAT profiles be fully enabled in the game as default. Can't use my throttle control for the X-55 and X-56 throttles and sticks. Keyboard controls just aren't the same. But both X-55 and X-56 default profiles are nerfed to the keyboard for acceleration and deceleration.
I started very recently and I swear I saw my self in the vid somewhere landing like crap XD
I have 27 ships in game. I used to have some that got wiped because they were off planet from my home base in 3.20. I lost the 890, reclaimer and more. I try not to get rusty so I fly different ships constantly. You likely think I am a noob if you see me land but after I fly the Carrack for a couple of days and then fly the Syulen I look a bit amateurish. After a couple of days in the three story alien closet landing on by back I get pretty good at it but then I need to fly something else.
Please make a butter smooth vector landing tutorial, esp with the new changes to the modes :)
i would love a group rating like at a diving competition.
Because my strafe stick is tuned for flight combat with super low saturation I can’t even touch my side strafe when landing in MM unless I remain in Nav mode otherwise it will shoot me sideways 😂
Also have the issue with stuttering at A18, the hall is MUCH worse.
Your graphical issues are due to you running Vulcan too.
In wonder if the graphical glitches are due to shaders needing to be deleted?
I wonder if some of these delays in there take offs or landings is due to lag.

i was in the SRV for the first time, I'm like, I'm a pro i can do this.... scm mode. cruz in at 100mps..... gear down..... didnt slow to 30 mps and FLOP soft deathed and flipped over. face palm...

all servers all the time, 18 stutters. i haven't had a server not. ping was 170ms-250ms 5 fps server frame rate, normal ping still 15-30ms
Your ratings are wildly inconsistent and super forgiving lol. The first 325 pilot should have gotten a 0 or a 1 because they didn’t even land after all that hesitation! You should have noticed the hangar doors didn’t close because they never put their gear down so they failed to deploy gear, failed to completely touch the ground, took forever to get into hangar and another eternity to center itself in hangar (clearly new player), and repeatedly made stops during its descent (less cinematic). And you rated 8/10 and wanted to give it a 9/10? Lmao no
Your gear preference is not ideal so you sound goofy. It should be out just prior to or just after entering the hangar. It should be out prior to the netting the hangar to allow it to be the 30m/s speed limiter for finer control. You ‘can’ wait to drop gear when stabilized over the pad, but that’s really if the pilot wants to f4 and watch it deploy and strafe down to set down. But in practice, that’s too late.
a18 is tanking cause all the c2's duping rmc.. its a dupefest, u can see how much cig cares about their crappy bullshit game, condolences to everyone who bought ships with real money lol
