    Simply awesome. I'm totally amazed that big fish just nipped at the tip of the worm. I'm so used to a decent sized fish just slamming the tube and almost ripping the rod out of my hands. Makes you wonder how many of those little taps over the years were just a little rap you more or less ignored.

    Hi John. An old video but still full of great info. Fished tube and worm for years and always wondered one one tube always seems to get hit while the other is never touched. Also a lot of times you can mark a ton of fish but never hook up. This definitely gives some insight as to what is going on down there.

    this really gives importance to the use of a swivel on the tube and worm. i have recently switched to an FG over a swivel just to get some practice and i notice twisting in spite of the built in bearing swivel on the tube. may go back to the swivel for these tube and worm sessions. that swivel is working overtime.

    I stopped in Annapolis this past weekend on my way back from the beach. Beautiful spot on a bridge above the Severn river next to the city and naval academy. It was a perfect day and the water was clear enough that I could see a few feet underwater for over a hundred yards out (a privlidged position). I cast far out with a variety of lures and noticed "snakes" following my lure every time about three feet behind.: sometimes one or two, sometimes as many as five. After one turned sideways, I realized they were striped bass! They wouldn't hit the lure. I spent an hour and a half like this; in retrospect, I think the sun being so bright, they felt exposed and wouldn't take the lure. I tried everything, stopping my lure cold as if it was having a heart attack and let it sink to the bottom, twitched it, skipped it, etc. Absolutely nothing would make them hit the lure. I will go back this weekend and try it at night. I know they are there.

    Wondering if a live eel would cooperate. However, it does appear that the common knowledge of stripers being line shy (or shy in general) is more solidified by this documentation video. Another great upload.

    • @wokandwoll4lyfe
      @wokandwoll4lyfe 9 років тому +1

      tolpacourt not sure what you mean. People use live eels all the time for more than just trolling. . As long as you have a pretty steady current you can use live eels quite successfully in a drift. I usually like to keep them on ice to subdue them for a little so theyre less likley to knot the line up., but as long as the current is moving at a decent pace it will keep them straightened out. Ive caught pretty much all my 40+ lbers using live eels drifting.

    Going to try this out in Cali. Quick question tho: The gulp worm; is it just nosed hooked on the tube? Thanks!
    About the WaterWolf; when trolling do you use any of the weights or weightless?

    I think a lightweight diamond jig tipped with the worm would be better.

      +Fish on I do. For whatever reason, despite how stupid it looks, tube and worm produces a lot of bass, including the big ones, right in the middle of the day.
