Easy AOTY contender for me, everything about this album is so damn good. The Darkest Part hook sounds straight out of the 70’s, kinda reminds me of Dark Fantasy also. Aquamarine is a SOTY contender for me, so beautiful. And Strangers is so fucking hard.

Haven't been this blown away by a rap record since Madvillainy (18 damn years ago now)

It was originally going to be called 'Dangerous Thoughts' when the project first began production before it was shelved in the mid to late 2000's.

The album is pure fire!! One of my favorite albums of 2022 with Kendrick's and Joey's albums! The early 1970s psychedelic rock, soul, funk and jazz instrumentals is what stands out for me on top of the lyrics!!

absolutely didnt think this would be that good, but tbh and as a HUGE joey and denzel fan, i'm starting to believe that CHEAT CODES is above MMESYF and 2000 in the AOTY conversation

Cheat Codes is great, but MMESYF is more versatile imo. But this project is up there.

@@ryanbarber2945 I’ll give it the rapping aspect, but there are plenty of projects with production that sound just like this. This is Thoughts bread and butter, as for Denzel, he manages to change and mature his sound on this album. The variety of production and performances on melt makes it superior, but that’s my OPINION tho.

Probably my favorite of the year. Sounds like nothing else in Hip Hop right now. I could see dangermouse becoming the biggest producer in hiphop over the coming years if thats what he chooses to do.

I struggle with health anxiety too. I think a lot of it stems from having epilepsy as a kid and being in and out of the hospital all the time. Anyway, thanks for grinding out the content for us when you're feeling like shit man I'm really happy you reacted to this.

Any time I have that feeling that you described, that's usually a good barometer if an album or a song is an instant classic: it sort of overwhelms you on all levels - lyrically, musically, production, rhymes, beats, etc. It's both foreign but also it ties into something that you recognize and you have to continually go back to the well and re-experience it.
