@@ShiftingMetal K20 Series engines are actually the peak of 4 cylinder engine technology. So engine technology actually peaked in the late 1990's... Certainly as far as BHP per CC and reliability combined. People turbo them up to about 400BHP with stock engines and they can run for years like that with no problem.
Can you think of another 2.0L 4 Cylinder engine built in the last 25 years that is better than the K20 series? .. I can't..
& That means that the 4 cylinder petrol engine has not advanced at all in the last 25 years.

The Type R's K20 engines are overbuilt to handle a lot more power than the stock 198BHP.
I've seen plenty of examples of Turbo'd or Super Charged K20's safely running 350 - 400BHP with stock engines for years. There's not many engines can handle x2 Power reliably without internal mods. The K20 series is I will claim the Best Stock 2.0L 4 Cylinder Engine ever produced & I doubt many people would argue with that.

The brakes on all Civics are a bit wooden, I've owned civics for about 12 years now and sadly won't get another. The 8G you're driving has fantastic quality interior, the 9G, the accountants took over at Honda and the quality was naff and the 10G has some amount of Squeaks and rattles on the early ones. And if you have the 1.0L 10G and haven't had the Cam Belt done yet, be prepared for a shock on the price to do it. Honda want upwards of £1600 to do it.
