Absolute magnificent! Sooyun Kim's performance, mentioned by someone, is very good indeed, but Bouriakov is even better. He is the supreme master of the flute.
I agree that it is one of the hardest flute pieces ---- but there are others more accomplished, such as the Introduction and Rondo Capriccio by Saint-Saens. Then there is the incredibly difficult piece by Katchaturian. Both Jasmine Choi and Denis play them. Worth listening to.
I love Bouriakov's playing! He is so technically brilliant, it's astounding. I agree that this piece is one of those pieces that sound harder than it is, though. Still, he's hands down a fantastic technical flutist. I just wish he was more musical. Sometimes the things he plays leave me scratching my head -- especially his playing in the Met.
Have you heard him playing the Met? I live in Texas so I never got the chance to, can you tell me what you mean? I play flute too and I really want to learn more about it
He is fantastique, but still... this is a wonderful piece of work and his playing makes it no fun... like practicing. Especially start from 8:08... I personally think it is the most difficult part of this piece :)
@@chrisnikolov2152 Agreed. Although he doesn't need to move much. There is no right or wrong way to move while playing. Literally everyone is different.
I agree. His interpretations tend to be extremely straightforward. However, his execution is always so impressive that many overlook that fact, including me lol. I'm going to experiment with my embochure on the side in a similar way to his. I've been striving to get an even darker tone on the low notes but I can't seem to get my embochure focused enough to get a "bite" in the sound
Could some folk put up a few examples as much good advice is probably lost by lack of demonstration. All these guys are so good and could defend their respective positions by word and demonstration.
it's so so great! and this is one of my fav pieces of all time, it's so wonderful! i just wished (and pardon me - i don't mean to sound like one of those incredibly irritating besserwissers out there, just.. well) that your angle was a bit straigter.. that would be kind of more relaxing to watch. but, oh well, you're of course fantastic!!
hello maestro, this flute seems to have no resistance or heaviness, is this the original mouthpiece from Altus ps? this instrument seems to allow all acrobatics and thus defies all intervals. I saw that on Sankyo also with the rz mouthpiece I think... what do you say? thank you
I agree. I'm going to play from the left side of embouchure as an experiment. I see many professional flutists doing this. Rampal, I understand ---- he had a "split upper lip".
@ryodoru That may be true, but most flutists don't have the brilliance of range that Bouriakov and Bennett have. Playing scales is easy enough, but maintaining such bravado of tone throughout all the registers of the flute is not easy, as evidenced by the overabundance of flutists who can't do so. I find this this performance straightforward yet inspired, facile yet solid.
I agree. Galway has made enough money with his b.s. "cross-over" pop music: "Annie's Song", etc. That's so he could sell a million albums to people who wouldn't know a flute if it bit them in the ####. Pahud is a Galway wannabe. Denis is the best flutist I've heard in the 35 years I've been a flute fan. I think he IS the best.
All these guys Are so damn good..not all in the same way and one can have a preference ...but I would not say better...I have a leaning for Jimmy myself..after 60 years of listening...but I did not like his Bach as much as some others such as W illiam Bennett...Moyse had a wonderful wild expression at times...Hyde mith could do a great Handel
This man was playing freelance Principal flute in many Russian orchestras when he was _fifteen years old._
Only the person who made the modern flute could write a piece like this.
And what better advertisement for his instrument. Great marketing campaign.
Such crisp and beautiful playing. BRILLIANT!!! OMG!!
As an old and retired flutist I have admired this flutist. He is a real genie
Most Beautiful. I am overwhelmed, must catch my breath.
Its scary how some musicians are so good .His playing is amazing
Elegant, precise, full, rich, nuanced, stylistically perfect--a tour de force played by a master. Bravo!!!
Fantastic!
I don't think that is possible to play better and nicer this music.(This is life recording, sic) Absolutely the best!
Chapeau, Mr. Denis Buriakov
Amazing.. I will listen to this whenever I feel like I am already good at playing the flute. :D
beautiful sound, impeccable taste and finest technique. bravo!
BRILLIANT. I also LOVE watching his finger dexterity.
Brilliant sound tongue technique a stunning performance !!!
Absolute magnificent! Sooyun Kim's performance, mentioned by someone, is very good indeed, but Bouriakov is even better. He is the supreme master of the flute.
Bravissimo, un flautista fantastico!!!
This fellow can play the flute so well!
That was........ Just.... TOTAL CRAZINESS! !!
your technique and releases are pretty much perfect and i love your tone! great job. i really like this piece too
Impresionante.
Thank you for the inspiring performance!
its fabulous to see the flute invention became that
Amazing performance!!! Ad majora Denis!
Thank you for sharing....wot an amazing piece of music. just so beautiful. and of course performed brilliantly...i loved it. I want to play like you!
Bravo !! so amazing ! what an incredible technic & brilliant sound !! it probably one of the most hardest flute piece of the world!
Nope.
Wow beautiful sound!!!♡
Stellar in every respect.
This guy is the new Galway and pahud!! William Bennett did teach him but I believe that James had an interest in his earlier years.
He provides an object lesson in how to perform this demanding piece
Move over, Galway and Pahud. A new flute god is in the making.
You are so great
I like how straightforward the technique is though. It's not crazy modernism, so it's quicker to learn. It's very enjoyable to play.
just amazing
Bravissimo!
Fabulous!
It's a tricky piece, especially to pull off so well. But certainly not one of the most difficult, not by a long way.
That was beautiful! :)
fantastic perfprmer!!!
Thanks for pointing it out. I'm sure he'd never have noticed otherwise!

BRAVO!!!!!!!
very good!

He doesn't move much but his playing is beyond amazing
@@chrisnikolov2152 Agreed. Although he doesn't need to move much. There is no right or wrong way to move while playing. Literally everyone is different.
Must listen to Sooyun Kim's performance of this it is absolutely incredible
helix949 this is the best though
bonitas escalas Denis!

Alex Mason, try upside down smile and see what happens.
@sylvieschel my favorite version is played by william bennett ^ . ^
Well said !!!! Many Brilliant players. But some are musicians .
I don't understand "more musical". Could you explicate further. Thanks.
Could some folk put up a few examples as much good advice is probably lost by lack of demonstration. All these guys are so good and could defend their respective positions by word and demonstration.
good job
I don't care how long it will take, but I will watch all your videos :D amazing as always :)
maybe you're teaching somewhere? :P
Thank you. Please reset the sheet music
For you 20 "dislikes" ----- do you play better than he? Or can you tell us who plays better.?
James Millen maybe Pahud or Galway
James Millen you are right so I just added a "like".
bravo.
Come here to hear what is going to be my new suffering with this piece 😪 beautiful but so dificult
aww. he's mine too :)
yeah!
omg Is it X2 speed version?? He is so fast!
yes i do think is good~~!!high tecnolegic
it's so so great! and this is one of my fav pieces of all time, it's so wonderful! i just wished (and pardon me - i don't mean to sound like one of those incredibly irritating besserwissers out there, just.. well) that your angle was a bit straigter.. that would be kind of more relaxing to watch. but, oh well, you're of course fantastic!!

What a tempo !!
lol
difficulty level: RUSSIAN
Sooyun Kim has the best interpretation of this out there, but still good. it's a tough piece
i LOVE you. you are soooo talented.
can i please be you? :]

Singing birds
7:58
Jim Millen is so arrogant. Denis is of course one of the Superplayer. But not yet better than Emmanuel Pahud
I'm sorry but this piece is hard as shit to play. Great job... the technique behind this takes years and years of practice
Well said...

This has to be one of the most nauseatingly insipid pieces of music ever written. Well played, but seriously... why?!
