Most likely the greatest flutist of our time. Exceeds Galway and Pahud. Incredible articulation, tone, sonority. In my 35 years of playing the flute ---- and listening to other flutist --- he stands, IMO, as the best. What marvelous talent.

I’ve always loved this piece and, after about 25 years of not playing flute or piano, I decided to start playing again. I have the flute solo and piano solo version of this beautiful piece. Once I have my flute re-padded, I’ll start on it... right now I’m learning the piano solo version... and it’s HARD!!!

His sound, harmonics, vibrato, intensive expresion, strong low scales, perfection tune...I love Rampal, Galway and Nicolet, but Bouriakov is the best in all the time: past and present. Nobody plays like he, is a insane beauty. He is my inspiration, too.
I often wonder why a flutist of Bouriakov's talent chose to perform with the Met Orchestra, where the flute is often "lost" among other musicians, when he is perfect as a recording/recital artist? He should be the principal flutist of a world class orchestra.

The rusian flutist have a more powerful sond in the low notes, more clarity and perfect sound projection, perfect tune and more expressive vibrato. He is a human miracle, his technique is miracle. I play flute and never hear something like Bouriakov in all the records, in all the time. This guy did transcrive and record the extremly difficult Sibelius violin concerto, is not human! And the result was magnifique. jasmin Choi a virtuose player, I like so much her performances, but Bouriakov is not "human': Nicolet, Rampal and galway maybe wasn'ts so good like a Bouriakov. Altus flutes must make the best, after listening Denis' C1 register. The lower register sounds like a trumpet. Would like to know what model Altus flute he plays. JIM

Galway never was the best. He is/was the most popular flutist. But this doesn't mean, that he has the best technique/tone/etc. He has rubbish tone, ugly vibrato. But his fingering is good (this is why he got popular)
I would disagree. She has some interesting moments, but Bouriakov's technique is at such higher level that it becomes sort of hard to compare. This piece isn't made for the flute, and to be able to play this approximately as on a violin demands a higher level of technique than what Jasmine is capable of, unfortunately. Also, Jasmine didn't pass her trial year in the Vienna Philharmonic
