Astounding! I have visited Schubert’s modest home near Vienna and stood at his grave next to Beethoven’s. If only he could have heard this piece performed in such a glorious way on a modern concert grand. I only hope he had some idea of the immortality of his music.

I really hope the Jussen brothers read my msg. I am a nurse who is fighting with COVID-19 since Jan 2020. We have a long 12hrs shift. I listen to this music when I take a break. I never enjoyed the full music because I still get lots of phone calls or I need to go back to work due to emergency situations. I feel so happy and peaceful with this master piece of Schbert.
Darling, you are a hero. Hope you will get some comfort from music. My dad in a nursing home does. So I hope you and your colleagues make music of all tasts, classic, pop, jazz available in nursing homes. Beauty eases pain.

Love how they move their heads in sync, it’s as if they feel the emotions and tension synonymously. Shows how in tune you have to be with your partner to pull off a piece such as this

Probably 500,000 views of this piece are mine..I’m trying to play it myself with a friend and we come back to this over and over again because it’s such a beautiful piece of music. Schubert did himself proud. I tend to listen rather than watch. Thanks Arthur and Lucas.

Probably the finest version of this piece that I’ve heard. The dynamics are wonderful.
Andras Schiff - Imre Rohmann is my reference performance. But This brothers are also Sublime !
Kissin and Levine are also great together playing this composition, but I agree, this is exquisite. They’re like one soul playing.
Kudos to the sound engineer on this. The recording I listen to most is by Murray Perahia and Radu Lupu.
Perahia and Lupu is my favourite, more balanced.

Thank God this was recorded. This performance is one those highwater marks. Never to be repeated... on earth. The truth is self-evident.
By far the most extraordinary rendering I've ever heard of this very special Schubert masterpiece. Lucas and Arthur play with four hands and one soul, which seems to be in direct contact with the composer.
Schubert was the absolute Master of 'saudade', where sadness and joy mysteriously entertwine, and the central melody in this Fantasy is one his most heartwrenching tunes.
These guys play with a simplicity, depth, clarity, and respect for the text that evokes Masters like Lipatti or Michelangeli.
What a unique moment you offer us mortals... thank you angels ! I sure hope there's WiFi in the Composers' Paradise so that Franz can listen to you too.

Years ago there was a pair of brothers, Richard and John Contiguglia, who also recorded this masterpiece. Their recording (on vinyl) seems to have disappeared from the catalog. So, I am particularly delighted to have this recording available from this particularly delightsome pair of brothers. Thank you, Arthur and Lucas, and thank you, Steinway, for creating the magnificently beautiful pianos these superb artists use.

Some of what they play is quite virtuosic.

Schubert bought his first piano just before he passed away so early at his 31. And still this 4hands Fantasia knocks very heart of millions.

Masterwork performed by two young, dedicated and soulful pianists. What maturity they show in understanding this demanding work. .... And all from memory! These boys bring a new meaning to the word 'prodigies'. Listen to the ensemble playing, the varied tone, the beautiful phrasing, and be in awe! They never allow youthful impetuosity to get out of hand. The audience are so caught up in the entire performance there is not a movement until the piece is over, and then they gradually return to earth to show their appreciation.

How lovely to hear this played from memory! I am used to reading from a score when playing four-hand music. But when two players have so deeply internalized the music that they think as one, there is a very special magic. And one that reveals a deep understanding of Schubert.

Насправді, невідомо, коли буде все Ок, бо війна триває і несе з собою багато горя.
Я багато плакала за весь цей час.
Ця музика тоді, у березні 2022, ще довго звучала у моїй голові, як нав'язливі спомини. Аж змучила мене. Тепер вона сприймається мною наче символ тих днів. Навіть боюся вмикати, щоби знову послухати, бо знову вона може прив'язатися до мене. А я маю берегти свої сили.

Marvellous piece, and the brothers are so in harmony with each other. Wonderful to listen and to watch them too. As a side remark, notice how the Korean public is cultivated. They wait until the piece really finishes, the piano vibrations fade, there's a moment of respectful silence and only then do they start applauding.

De toutes les versions présentes sur UA-cam, ce sont les seuls à jouer sans partition, avec une clarté de son sans équivalent. Cette oeuvre est un chef d'oeuvre absolu, joué par deux virtuoses magnifiques. Moi non plus je ne m'en lasse pas. Au bureau, je les écoute en boucle quand je dois rédiger de longs documents.

Lucas & Arthur made this music even more beautiful than it is.
Being brothers and playing together for years apparently gives them an attunement that even great pianists like Argerich and Delgado cannot achieve when playing this together.
Listening to the perfection of this piece, one could well believe it was being played by a single, freak four-handed piano genius.

Sorry, but those concerts Argerich gave with Delgado were just ridiculous, because he simply doesn't practice and he isn't on her level. I guess she only played with him because he helped her during her cancer treatment in California (see her French biography). I don't see any other reason.

It has something to do with the blood. The mediclorian rapport. The Everely Brothers had it. I could name a couple of other brothers who had it too. Nevertheless, this recording is proof of this kind of psychic rapport. The truth is self-evident. What a performance this was. !!!! Herr Schubert's music still lives. "Perfection...." indeed!

Schubert was so in love with one of his felme students from a very wealthy family. HE wrote this for her, so he could be close to her to perform this with her. The is a passage where he has to reach over and for a nano second touch her wrist. This is one of the supreme pices od Music for Piano . These brothers perfume it superbly .

Such a pleasure to listen and to watch these 2 brothers play in such harmony, and by heart, this beautiful piece, putting all their heart and soul on it. One can just imagine how many dozens or probably hundreds of times they rehearsed it together. I'm sure Schubert is smiling in Heaven.

Конечно же у братьев лучшее исполнение! У них особое чувство к друг другу...и родство их душ очень чувствуется... профессионально они достаточно подкованны
И мне кажется, такая деятельность связывает братьев еще сильнее друг с другом, помимо кровного родства, которое есть по умолчанию, они развивают еще и душевное. Это так прекрасно! Чистая, возвышающая близость душ.

This is one of my favorite pieces. I like Lang Lang and Marc Yu, Lang Lang and Christoph Eschenbach. But this is miraculous.
Just wish there was better audio, there's a lot of clipping. Even my Bose with sub-woofer detect this and upon downloading the audio and opening it up in Audacity, it's very apparent that the microphones do in fact clip out. Maybe they are using Microphones that were made in china? Bargain Hunt?

these boys make magic together! Surely this is the most beautiful performance of this piece I have ever heard! They play as one and, even at the forte passages - which are quite extended - there is never a forced or percussive sound. They make the piano sing!
You are exactly right. They have a warm but clear sonority that isn't harsh like so many contemporary pianists.

The Jussens, the Dutch boys break my heart. In my opinion, this is most outstanding Schubers' fantasy in F minor D 450. I feel Schubert's sadness toward his love and end of his life. Very well played. Being brothers, practice thousand hours together..I am very impressed. I hope they visit US in the near future.
