I so love this piece and Sir Galway's interpretation. I had the complete piece on vinyl. Wish it had been performed here in its entirety. It is a really long piece though. BRILLIANT!

Did anyone notice what happened at 1:55? And then his eye movements at the end of the phrase? Anyway, I'm nit-picking - it's an absolutely beautiful performance of the adagio - I'd give anything to play it 1/4 as well as Sir James. It kinda makes him seem more human - even the greatest can split a note.
The breathing technique is actually very similar if not the same (I’m a singer), and good breathing is half the battle :) His breathing is obviously supreme.

He's so great that every time I see a split I think it is part of the song, and I find it even more pleasant don't know why!
