    Sometimes xotic sp could be misunderstood !
    Despite It have just 3 buttons, inside there are 4 switches and it could be a little dificult to arrange all controls !!
    I had the same problem ! Last year i had a SP but sold it because i did not like it ! After i start to understand compressors and how to use it i bought a Mad Professor Forest Green ( fantastic compressor ) and i decide to give another chance to SP !
    So, i tried so emulate Forest Green sound ( sustain and comp kind of sound ) , and after working with all these buttons i found that it could have the same great sound of Mad Professor !! So, the tip is : insise, leave all the 3 first switches down and the last up !! On the outside controls , forget the mid sustain option ! Use only the lo and hi options , and leave the blend knob at 11 o' clock . Using the low option you will have a beautiful clean enhance kind of sound to leave always on !! And when you need to have a more compressed soun for funk/ boost , use hi option!

      Weirdly I too looked at both the forest green and the sp.. Bought the forest green and now two years later got the sp too... will most definitely try your settings so thanks for sharing 👍 Does that setting work for single coil and humbuckers? Or just one or the other...

    I have SP and Cali76CD ( the best Compressor)
    The factory default SP settings is good but not the best ! It can be more transparent and better if you switch the second internal button to UP position and the third button to down position ( less atack and more highs ) It will become one of the best Compressors ever !

    to anyone curious if this pedal is good for bass, it is great for bass! the blend knob allows you to retain a very strong low end while allowing a lot of extra sustain to shine through.

    This is a really good compressor and I love Xotic pedals. My EP boost stays on all the time. Check out the new Pigtronix micro Philosopher's Tone demo Mike does, it is an optical circuit compressor w internal 18v power rails, utterly noiseless. Either one is a great compressor but given a choice go with the optical circuit.

    You said some comps don't work well with drive pedals, what do you mean by that? I have mine in the front of my chain, and in a true bypass looper, and for some reason when I pair it up with pedals, the amount of drive goes down so the way I fix it is by upping the volume, but then when I use it with no pedals it's really loud. Any fixes?

    • @santiago0528
      @santiago0528 8 років тому

      +Ryan Burton It's probably the circuitry that your drives and compressor are built with; some drives (depending on the wiring used) are really compatible with a compressor (and vice-versa). What compressor are you running before your drives; and what drives are you running in front of your compressor?

    I tell them that my setup is the mesa boogie head + an electric guitar with EMG 85 81 + tc electronic g major 2 (connected by the effect input: send / return) my idea is to have a more sustein sound and balance. .. I await your response, accept criticisms and comments (the genre in which it ventured classic heavy, hard rock, progressive heavy metal) by ROMEO

    hello ... how are you ..? I tell them I bought the compressor sp Xotic is a great article ... I'm from Argentina, Buenos Aires ... these products from Xotic are hard to find in my country ... but making an effort to acquire money I could ... My idea is to use a head co Mesa Boogie Dual 2010, using distortion. Question: Do you think I can get more sustain and a round sound with little noise? Where do you think is best to connect the Xotic sp: guitar imput the head, or the effect input ...?
