he is right!, dont you remember that episode where the galactic empire or whatever used that big weapon on earth to destroy all life but pants?
he who controls the pants controls the galaxy!
Yelled Morty in Jerry's work place.
"He"......or 'She'?
This is actually one of the few instances where the "them or me" choice actually isn't a dick move considering everything Rick's done.
Almost everything Jerry does is a dick move, including this, because Rick saved the galaxy from an oppressive regime and Jerry actually liked the oppressive regime.
You're up your own ass if you think you have any right to determine what is right or wrong here. This is called an ultimatum. Jerry said he was not willing to live with Rick. Beth said she is not willing to live without Rick. Jerry proceeded to not love with Rick. What a 'dick move' right
"them or me" is always a dick move, there's no attempt at compromising, no attempt to find a solution. You're forcing someone into making a choice they don't want to have to make. He should have went with something milder like asking for some rules, like keeping aliens and inventions limited to the garage.
Not to mention that this entire situation has nothing to do with where on earth Rick lives, it's literally just Jerry trying to use an opportunity to get rid of Rick.

It just goes to show you: even if you manage to unite the entire galaxy under one currency and one flag...you gotta keep it that way, because even the smallest disturbance could bring the whole system crashing down.
that's why you don't centralize... You decentralize. Ironically, you grow more powerful if you let autonomy within your empire be the rule.

Damn. Rick and Morty might actually predict what will happen to Russian's currency.
“It’s him or me” like it’s a hard choice JERRY
Yeah like who in their right minds would ACTUALLY want Rick around considering what he does to them
For anyone wonder, when rick put the value from 1 to 0, it mean all money in the intergalactic federation system multiply by 0. for example: you are busineesman in intergalactic federation with total balance in their bank 100.000$ (i know they probably don't use dollar but lets just assume it), when rick change the value from 1 to 0 that mean your balance in bank's system get multiply by 0 so your account have 0$ balance. now even if they still use physical money they still have massive lost, the money still in bank but they doesn't know who own how much , their system already set all account to 0$ so even if they turn it back to 1 the system only multiply the current balance (0$) to 1 and still end up with 0$. And from their response, they didn't have any backup procedure for that (probably a superior complex where they think it's not even worth to backup the system where you have the most advanced techonlogy in many galaxies and also it's huge data to backup). and that's just on bank, many other transaction recorded from other source in their system because it is single centralized, all transaction in their federation goes to their system.

I think even a crazy antifa terrorist would care if a black man hiding in a sewer made aliens leave. Its so unrealistic which is the entire point. What a dumbass move.
It’s pretty dumb that jerry did that
To be fair to Jerry, Rick was the reason the Federation got Earth and its collapse. And the many, MANY disruptions that occured in the family from destroying Morty's home dimension to mass slaughter of xeno lifeforms. So in theory Jerry was justified in making that move. Though I agree with you that it's a dumbass move since Jerry has no leverage to compel Beth to choose him; he doesn't even own the house they are living in...

I love the delay of the president bugs goo falling after he shoots himself in the head.
Says he’s going to change a 1 to a 0 but accidentally adds a 0 digit to the 1 to make a 10.
Then loads of people become lazy as the average yearly amount of around 10,000 becomes 100,000 so and that 1.00 is now 10.00 so you could buy a new video game for basically 5.29 so everyone just buys up everything and stops working and everything crashes and have to go through depression.

Would work for like 1 paycheck but then everyone would just x10 the prices wouldn't they

"He who speaks first, loses the negotiation".
On a side note, I thought it was very inconsiderate of Gerry to rearrange Rick's flies.
His name is jerry
Garry?
Who are we talking about again
I guess this is why Michael Reeves decided to invent at a garage, because as Rick said "What the f**k! Not cool Jerry! A man's garrage is his castle"
I think the best part is how martial law 100% would have worked fine. You pay the soldiers in hard currency that they can exchange at the commissary that you control and force to take the hard currency. Honestly, what I get from this is computerized transactions would be the only thing affected by this.
If you look closely you can see Jerry's heart turn to dust
Wait so from an economists point of view how does this work? How do you change the value of currency by turning a 1 to a 0 on a computer?
There’s no standard economics involved here. Currencies typically have value relative to something else. So you can compare how many dollars equal a euro, for example. Or how many dollars equal a Big Mac.
But here it’s comparing itself to itself. It’s totally ridiculous that they would even have this on a system, or that they would ever listen to the computer. I suppose you could make a case that it demonstrates that currency typically only has a perceived value and no intrinsic value.
I guess a possible equivalent in real life would be if every newspaper and website suddenly declared that US dollars were worthless... they’d be chaos. You’d want to buy gold, food, property... anything that has real demonstrable value. But nobody would sell because they would no longer trust that the pieces of paper with $10 written on it are actually worth anything.
The scenario in the vid is ridiculous because they’ve just accepted the computer’s assessment rather than dismissing it as a glitch or trying to rectify the situation as any real government would do.
@@fenhen so more like they believed fake news published by some government computer that their money has no value.
@@zabers5818 Economically speaking various currencies have two main ways of determining their value. One is based on a wealth amount the country already has, the main one usually being gold since that's how currency first began but has more recently began to go out of fashion.
The other is something like the US where they don't have a material to back-up how much the money is worth, instead it just being decided on by how much everyone thinks its worth.
As long as people believe that the Dollar has power, it has power. If everyone in the entire United States tomorrow decided they don't like the currency anymore they could in theory do what Rick did in the episode and make it worthless overnight. Obviously that won't happen, but it gives an idea.
As far as I can tell this galactic government was in a weird space between these two policies where it determined the value of the currency by the value of the currency without anything else to compare it off of due to like they said, it being their sole currency. In theory what Rick did could be undone by them then switching over to the second system where people just believe that it has worth and therefore it would have worth. Instead they believed their money didn't have worth, therefore it didn't have worth and their government collapsed.
That's the best way I could really explain this, by all means it wouldn't work like this but it kind of does if their currency doesn't have anything to compare itself to on stand-by other than itself. FYI I'm not an economist, just saying stuff from memory.
@@grimms8783 makes sense. So theoretically since the US dollar isn't worth anything other than the perception that it does means that something like what rick did can be done.
@@zabers5818 True, it'd just be nigh impossible due to you having to not only convince the entire population of the US that their money isn't worth anything which is hard enough, but also convince any form of international businesses or even countries that the dollar isn't worth trading with.
A man’s garage is his Castle, but man’s house is his universe.
There’s no way the president wasn’t going through some shit…
In all reality, the value of a currency isn't so immediately objective that a change in value significantly and instantly disrupts the economy that uses that one centralized currency. It will take some stretch of time before the people adapt to the currency's objective change in value.
I mean... i think making a currency worth 0 of itself would take longer, but it's a comedy cartoon so I'll give it a pass
