About Rick and Morty:
Rick and Morty is Adult Swim's most scientifically accurate animated comedy. Created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, it catalogues the bizarre misadventures of a bored scientific genius/drunkard and his socially awkward grandson, Morty. Their exploits tend to have unintended consequences for Morty's dysfunctional family, especially his unfailingly mediocre father, Jerry. Watch Rick and Morty battle everything from interdimensional customs agents to Cronenberg monsters now, only at AdultSwim.com.

I love how the judge is the one who first brings up "butt boys"

rory g i just imagine that i can hear a record scratch and everybody stops talking
Big butts
Many judges are just emotional little men.
Knuckle tattoo idea unlocked
The stenographer was probably holding back tears.
the animation makes it so much funnier with the stenographer just looking like a deer in the headlights
At the end the judge says 'I know everybody in the courtroom has (enjoyed this)'
I bet there was a lot of laughter.
The judge had tunnel vision and then I think that was the moment he realized
he himself was in teouble.
Like in Better Call Saul when his highly respected brother forgets he is in court and is airing
decades old grievances about Saul and then notices people with jaws dropped
at his behavior.

Not a Rick and Morty fan, but I HAD to hear it. No regrets. It was hilarious 😂😂😂
It's amazing how much the transcripts resemble an actual Rick and Morty episode.
I could honestly imagine this being something that happened in the Citadel of Ricks at some point.
Indeed, haha

Well they do like to improv...
These are the real transcripts? Nothing changed or embellished?
"Y-you have the right to an attorney. You don't have the right to a specific attorney." That was sorta hilarious.
I mean, it's kinda true.
@@darylchurch2115 I don’t know. Rich people get the right to a specific attorney. Imagine you were a poor person with your freedom on the line and you were handed an attorney that didn’t do their best for you. It might be the difference between spending years in prison and being free.
@@ownagebutter happens everyday in courtrooms around America. The term is called "Public Pretender" although I'm not sure how it works if the appointed court lawyer does in fact do something that harms you. Here this lawyer should have stopped them from talking at the very least...
Pretty sure Gideon v. Wainwright actually made it so you do have a right to choose your attorney. Though I may be mistaken.
@@noahhertzman3386 No, you just get the right to get an attorney provided to you. What the judge said is correct: you are not entitled to choose WHO you get provided to you.

On a serious note, his final sentence was 10 years for the crime, +100 years for this rant. Really.

@@Nashthedemi
Pretty much, although Life-Sentences rarely actually last that long.
It's expensive keeping people alive, so jails let people out early for good behavior. "Life-Sentences" usually only last about 40 years on average.

I love that the judge was dragged down to the level of a jail house crack head argument.
Provably fed up deaing with them.
Jude didn't expect him to just keep going when adding days LMFAO
Shows even the most respectful judges are human.
I mean, holding the defendant in contempt of court and providing an interim sentence is pretty standard when things get this bad. It's just the dude kept going even after the point when most belligerents would shut up that really caused things to get out of hand
He failed to heed Mark Twain's advice:
"Never argue with stupid people. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."
"A year!" "Your momma." "TEN YEARS!" XD
It seems a little broken that a judge can add that kind of time to a prison sentence over personal butthurt.
@@jflanagan9696 I'd say the entire freaking thing is "broken" XD
@@MegaFafnir Not unless you only get your news from the TV.
@@jflanagan9696 He can’t actually. You can’t get 10 years for cursing in court, that wasn’t a real sentence. The guy ended up getting life anyway cause he pled guilty to murder.
@Heroin Bob "Ten years for insulting the judge, sounds about fair"
"I hold myself in contempt" lost it
I’m sorry I had to like it. I brought it to 421
This is based on a REAL situation that happened in a Georgia courtroom, word for word. The reason they break character and laugh is because they can't believe what they are reading.
where is the original video
Nicole A
It's not a video, it was a court thing. You can't record it by law.
+Lily Valentine just a general info because you kept saying "they".
Both Rick and Morty are voiced by the same person.
"They" can be singular too
Actually i read the transcript from the courtroom and the laughs are there pointed out by the stenographer even the stutters, is amazing how Justin Roiland keeps up with it
The fact that this was a 100% real transcript from a courtroom is astonishing to me.
"You looked like a queer" 😂
I found out a few years after watching this and was absolutely astonished that it was real..
@@danielspencer1861 You must be a curious soul, like myself 😅
Yeah, the state of American politics and the prison system is just absolutely insane. Most criminals will use the constitution to hide behind. But I just love how crazy this case got, I watched the original video and the defendant really got under the judge's skin.

That judge was so epic to not gag the defendant but engage him at his level. Even Shakespeare couldn’t come up with this dialog.
This is glorious, even without animation.
Tiarawhy IS the one that animated this
It's better without animation
Definitely not.

im fucking dead over here, this shit escalated quick af. he basically got life in 8 mins
I mean this whole thing would have gotten the case either thrown out or retried
it was in trial yet. the threats against the judge and his family however would get allen potentially a lot of years in jail.
I'm serious the trial was real those threats were actually said, there isn't a recording of it but it was written by the clerk there.
+Mayor 826 we know it's real but it is not in a trial

sup pickleo
I love how him saying “your mama” gets him an extra 9 years
I mean, the judge did warn him that he’d get more time for everything he said.
How the hell is a four page indictment the only paper work they have for a murder trial that's happening in a week?!
I think that's why the defendant was upset and losing his temper.
This was a motion for the defendant to fire his attorney, not the murder trial.
Frankie Williams
actually the defendent clearly states i have not been given anything but a four page indictment/document for my murder trial, which was set for the next Monday, hence why he wanted a new attorney.
Courts do this a lot with poor and underclass defendants. It's a way of screwing them over which their underpaid, next to no resource appointed attorneys will not really do anything about, in order to score a slam dunk conviction or force a plea deal.
Mckenzie .Latham I know what the defendant states. It still was not the trial for murder. THAT would have been the appropriate time to bring such a thing up to try and get a mistrial. That was simply a hearing for a new attorney which you have no right for in Georgia unless he's deemed incompetent.
Frankie Williams
which was what the defendant was claiming.
He was claiming that they were going to trail on the following Monday, and aside from a four page indictment etc. he had not been given any other evidence etc. etc. and that therefore his lawyer was not only incompetent and not doing anything for him, but tried to solicited sex from him for a favorable performance in court.
I'll bet I've watched this once a year for the past seven years, and it NEVER grows old. It's just as hilariously obscene now as the first time I watched it. It's too bad there wasn't a camera in the courtroom where this immortal exchange took place. 😃
I used to work for a state hospital. This is so on point.
Both the judge and the defendant sound like such stereotypical people, Im pretty sure I can imagine what they both look like.
Like Steve Harvey vs Sug Knight.
@@Scorch428iirc , the skin tone of these two is can be determined from the text.
@@ilikemitchhedberg They are both White stupid.
I love when the judge asks "Is this a murder?" I don't know if they're supposed to know what the case is or not but it's just funny to me
I met a judge like this once, who didn't know her ass from her elbow, and believe me, it's not funny at all ;)
To be fair, this is just a hearing to set the actual court date. Judge probably wasn't expecting this
This is the preliminar hearing. A judge works on dozen of cases and can't read all the shit before. After the preliminar hearing where he can understand the basics will only then read the papers of the most difficult cases.

Best part is this all sounds like what Rick would say and do. Perfectly in character.

I guess rick is just a black dude with 160+ iq lol
The craziest part about this is that everything that Allen said in the first two or so minutes was completely valid. If you are being prosecuted in a murder trial and your attorney only gives you an indictment and nothing else from discovery like the coroner’s report, autopsy, or crime evidence, then the attorney is a joke and it’s grounds for mistrial.
That, plus him being correct about the judge smiling and laughing/calling him a queer showing conflict of interest and being more grounds for illegitimate trial. If he just didn’t go so hard in the second half with the expletives then he could have actually walked away from this scott-free.
The PD says he’s given the Fenton everything he has, which seems likely. Prosecutors are ridiculously slow (see the case of Kalief Browder) when it suits them.
Plus, in the first two minutes, DAF also says that his public defender said that he’d only do his job if DAF let him give him a BJ.
I think he was already in, when he killed a cellmate - like, it had just happened.
He was already in jail for terroristic threats. He killed his jail cellmate in their sleep by bashing in his head. He then bragged about killing said cellmate to other the other jailed individuals.
His initial arguments were competent and would be valid if indeed he was denied the information he requested.
Yeah, the Judge was being extremely unprofessional, and it makes me worry the result of the case may have been a false conviction. But without the full evidence, that is impossible to tell.
THIS IS KANGAROO COURT
The fact that he broke character and laughs twice honestly just kills me
He didn't, the laughs are in the court transcript.
@@vaakdemandante8772 The “Do you understand the English language?” is a real laugh. I don’t know if the Australian kangaroo court laugh is scripted though. I believe that one is a character break. Same with the laugh when Rick talks about bashing brains out with a hammer.

“I didn’t call you one, I said you looked like one!”
It’s not actual court. It’s kangaroo court!
