  • The 2025 Nissan Patrol Y63 is one of the most anticipated new models that's yet to be revealed. That said, there are plenty of clues as to what the seventh-generation upper-large SUV has in store for buyers and fans alike thanks to the mechanically Infiniti QX80 that made its debut in April 2024.
To that end, the big news is what is, or rather isn't, under the bonnet: a 5.6-litre naturally aspirated petrol V8 engine. Instead, in a sign of the times, a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 takes its place, albeit upping power from 298kW to 336kW, and torque from 560Nm to 698Nm. The seven-speed torque-converter automatic transmissions upgrades to a nine-speed unit, too.
But, of course, there's a lot more to the new Patrol Y63 than just its powertrain. In this news video, CarsGuide Managing Editor Tim Nicholson is joined by Deputy News Editor John Law and Contributing Journalist Andrew Chesterton to discuss everything else that we know so far.

V8 is a basic engine, thats the reason its excellent. Crack fueled, strung out v6 twin turbo is a very different beast to repair, just ask Toyota

Eagerly waiting for y63. N with new QX80, hopes are high, n the squared off, toned down styling fr patrol will look better than its luxurious cousin.
If they can keep the prices right, considering Nissan doesn't hv the luxury of having 3 offroading SUVs like Toyota, to cater fr broader audience, it will do well.

wish we had more LC models in the U.S. love a utilitarian 70 series troopy or just a basic LC300 would be nice

That centre gear consol is so large it’s going to take away so much of that sense of space. Shame, I was gonna hold out for this.

I really hope the USA version is not neutered. The armada in the USA has no rear locker and absolutely horrific approach and departure angles. The beauty of the LC200 is that it is perfectly capable right out of the box. The armada was very much catered towards American soccer moms and Nissan cut away a lot of the capability.

wish we had the ' patrol' name in the U.S. we have the lame armada name. not many buy the V8 gas hog, it was a better value than the LC200 was

$100k AUZ $ is about $67k U.S. that reasonable we pay $96k U.S. for a bronco raptor if we can get one for msrp, QX80 its close to $100k U.S. we don't buy many of them

What are you talking about people love Diesel that’s why LC300 kills it in sales if the Patrol had a diesel it would be a sales leader

Mate your wrong. More of us are switching over to petrol. No more DPF EGR AdBlue garbage to deal with I went a y62 over a LC300 for that reason. When it is Off road towing. Its by far the best all round car we have owned. Also my mates have sold LC200s went into petrol yank tanks. Diesels days are numbered.
