    The note on fuel door at 2:34 recommends 98 RON and you fuelled up with 91. While it'll detune itself and run fine on 91, perhaps the trip computer doesnt factor in people not heeding this advice.

    i tow a 3500kg off road tandem caravan with a 2022 y62- i get 22l per 100 average all over australia--- its amazing as a tow rig--- way better than my 2oo series that uses 25l per 100 towing, ill never sell the v8 petrol--- its awesome

      If you were getting 25L/100km in your 200, you were doing something wrong.
      Either you had bigger tires, carrying a heavier load or you had injector issues.
      I get 19.5L/100km towing our 22'6" triple Bunk offroad van. Given I have a lockup kit and an engine tune on the 200 which changes outputs to 200Kw and 775Nm at the wheels on 33" mud tyres.

    Based on my own experience with my 2022 Patrol you are pretty much on the money. I did a trip from Canberra to Melbourne return with one passenger cruising at 110k and ended up with 12/100. I have a 2 inch lift, 35s, front bar. Also just completed a full lap around Oz pulling a 21.5ft 3.2 tonne van and averaged 23/100. All calculated on a spreadsheet. Overall pretty happy with result.

    With factory tyres a 2”lift, bullbar, spotlights, winch, rear bar and cargo drawer system including a fridge and 350amps of battery storage I can sit on 100 odometer speed (93 real speed) and average 11.6 on 98 octane. Fit my 34” x-at tyres and it averages 13.8. Hard driving in the high country and it gets much much thirstier. Towing a 2t hybrid camper averaged 17.1 with factory tyre size.

    13.4 km/100
    Sitting on 118km/h (GPS), 124 (speedo)

    The most important thing you didn't mention is which octave fuel you used. Nissan recommends 98 octane fuel. From what I could tell you was not using 98 octane. Also I don't recall you mentioning your cruising speed. There are a lot of variables. I have owned mine new with no modifications since 2021 and these car can easily achieve between 10 to 11 l/100km. I always use 98 octane fuel.

    Fairly deep into the Outback is still only 250km between bowsers. It’s not really a problem. Anything with more than 500km of range is fine. Sure, do the Nullarbor by beach only and you’ll pucker a bit but for what you did, highway work, 500km is more than enough range, over 1000 is minty.

    • @robertjohnston3658
      @robertjohnston3658 11 днів тому +5

      Bullshit!
      There are many remote area roads that need a range of 600klms to travel safely and often a bit more and if you go off-road or have the vehicle loaded with holiday/travel essentials then consumption goes up by 30-50% and if you are towing even a camper van the add another 10%.
      The real world is different from road travel in easy formed road drives

      You’re correct. All these guys saying they can do 10-11l/100km sitting at 110km/h, or in real world conditions are just kidding themselves of incorrectly calculating. Consumption figures are so dependant on so many variables. I’ve had my MY22 Y62 since new and tell everyone to expect 11-13l/100km highway and 18-20l/100km city on a stock standard patrol with no excessive load. That’s been my experience.

    Amigo ! I do not see any sense in buying a big 6l petrol SUV to drive on highways. Idiotic.
    We had one in Phoenix/AZ for 5 weeks.....while the F-250 6.7's (3 of them) used around 14 l Diesel /100 km, the Nisson boy drunk in our convoy somewhere around 22 l/100 km....AZ has some 'little' mountains....
    The 4 picks were rented, unfortunately the renting company had all other diesels out, so we had to take that Nissan...!
    A Y61 with Diesel, would have been an agreeable choice....but Nissan trashed that in the 90's...

      Yeh, the cost of fuel is high but why do you blame the fuel producers for the fuel consumption of your particular vehicle? Do you think there is some covert conspiracy between all car manufacturers and fuel producers to “doctor” the mandated fuel consumption figures of vehicles?

  • @marh5952
    @marh5952 9 днів тому

    The variables I see is the first click and the temperature difference of the fuel when refilling (amount of froth), you should have brimmed it.

      When I started working at Wheels our policy was to brim tanks until fuel was visible and stable in the filler neck, but there were certain vehicles where doing so was pretty much impossible as the necks were plumbed to the charcoal canister/evap system in such a way that they'd drain the overfill before we'd ever see the fuel. Besides ruining the fuel calc it's obviously not great for the emissions system either, so the policy changed to run the pump first click. I hope that explains the methodology a little better.

    • @johncanalese588
      @johncanalese588 5 днів тому +1

      If you actually own a Y62, like I do you will have to deal with the dual tanks issue that plagues the car. The 140l tank is actually comprised of two separate but inter-connected tanks of 100l and 40l capacity. When you fill up, fuel goes only into one tank and then siphons over to the other tank. If you’re at close to 1/4 of a tank, when you fill up to “full” you never get full capacity. You can literally go back the next day and put another 10-13l in the “tank”, as the fuel has had time to fully siphon over-night! I fill up my Y62 to when clicks of pump stop, then give the car a good shake and you can hear the loud gurgling in the filler neck and then get a couple more litres in.

    • @ameetnarayan9219
      @ameetnarayan9219 5 днів тому

      @@johncanalese588 yeah every single time. You think it's empty but it's actually not empty because the Y62 fuel tank CAL is incorrect. There is still about 30 or so litres of fuel left when the light comes on. Bloody annoying as shit. My dealer ship told me when you fill up make sure you don't insert the fuel nozzle all the way in to make sure you get maximum fuel in the tank. It sort of works and not work actually. I drive it until the range is 00 kms of range left and drive another 80 kms. When I went to fill and it still only took 125 litres. It's a shit tank design with an even crappier calibration

      What can confound these tests in a Patrol is the well known issue of airlock between the main and sub fuel tanks. This means that "full"is not actually full and may not be consistent from one tank to the next which will skew the calculations. There's a mod to fix it.
