Add me to the list of folks who blame/ thank you for encouraging a visit to Mazatlán. Actually, no blame - just thanks. We were very happy that we visited in June when the snowbirds had flown home. As you know, I am partial to the Oaxaca Coast - but I thought Mazatlán was a lot of fun - and I loved the Panama restaurant!
We're happy yourself and Biff Mister gave Mazatlán a well-deserved chance. We fell in love with Mazatlán back in 2013 and we remain under its spell. It makes us happy to know other folk have fallen for its charms too.

Huaca Pucllana is not the only Huaca in Lima City. Actually according to Minister of Culture, there are registered more than 400 HUACAS ONLY in LIMA, Imagine in the rest of the country ! But unfortunely, many of them are abandoned, due to the lack of management of the Gouverment, the same corruption of the Local Authorities like the Mayors. I live to 3kms of distance from the Historical Center of Lima Downtown and in my Neighborhood there are 2 Huacas, and there are not like "touristic" as PUCLLANA is, because Pucllana is in MIRAFLORES or PACHACAMAC but even we as neighbors can´t do much to preserve it with no support of the Politians and authorities. This week there were discovered 5 mommies in a Huaca in RIMAC DISTRICT, which is in front of the Historical Center, crossing the Rimac River. There are many things below Lima that it has not been dicovered yet.
You are correct. The huge issues in Peru are that the authorities are very corrupted and useless for not taking care of the old Incas' monument. This problem is not just in Lima City but all around the country, and many of them have been illegally invaded and destroyed without any care from the government (corruption) anyway, glad you enjoyed your stay in Peru👍

Cajamarca's Carnival celebration is legendary! We planned to visit Cajamarca, then head to Chachapoyas to see Kuelap. Sadly, Kuelap was closed at the time for restoration work. Our plan was to go from Cajamarca to Celendín, then to Chachapoyas - this is meant to be a very scenic route. Because Kuelap was closed, we decided we'd leave Cajamarca [and Kuelap] for our next visit to Peru.

We just read a story yesterday about the number of huacas within Lima, and of the recent discovery of the mummies beneath Rimac.
