Another friendly correction by me: its not cocaine leafs its coca leafs, the leaf itself is harmless it.has to go through a chemical process to.be turned into the drug, the leaf is used for candy and tea

Uber in Lima is not recommended at all! They have gotten a really bad reputation. American people usually recommend Uber because it's "sinonym of app taxi", but here in Lima, Uber drivers have starred news due to thefts to passengers. Better take Beat, Cabify or Taxi Satelital.

Summer is nice but Lima Peru was build in a desert, means summer is very hot and humid tops most of the time 100%, humidity, most of the houses don’t use A/C, only hotels , restaurants , malls etc. , radiation (UV), is real high, in summer, I recommend go to Peru in spring time November, lots of sunshine, Not that hot yet, airfare are cheaper , because is out of high season. 1)Just get a prepaid chip for your phone for 10 dollars you get a month of some data and calls, and you can top it up for really cheap.
    2) Most restaurants, ,malls and businesses do open on sundays, only really small clothing or shoe stores might be closed.
    3) Obviously pisco is like whisky or vodka. Beer comes from similar ingredients of whisky, that doesn't mean they will have the same alcohol %
    4) Lima doesn't have extreme temperatures. Winter can be as low as 13 or 14 celsius at night and 28 at summer, so A/C is not that common because people get by with a jacket or a sweater at most.

Good Video! and just to mention:
To come to Peru best season is between April - September, despite coldest in Lima during this time (coast), because people also regularly wants to visit Cusco region and Machu Picchu and during these months is dry season (not rainy) in the Andes so is the best time to visit Peru.
Remember not everyone can visit Peru 2 times :)
Note 1: another mistake is keep visiting only fancy neighborhoods. You cant feel the real Lima and you can lose the chance to visit some famous and delicious "huariques"
Note 2: perfect months to visit Peru: April (still nice weather in Lima (coast) and ending the rainy season in Cusco (andes) or September/October (rainy season has not started yet and cheaper than other months) .

Best time to visit Lima is in summer from January to March, specially in February, the sun is always on and is diferent and there are so much activities in the coast, is more vibrant. Unfortunatelly our winter is gray and foggy all the time, but I think has charm too. You should have visited other parts of the city as the zoo, or pre-Inca ruins.

    • @PeruchoPastrulo
      @PeruchoPastrulo 5 років тому +3

The problem of going during the Southern summer is that is rainy season in the Andes and makes it extremely dangerous to visit Machu Picchu because of flash floods and landslides. Tourists have gotten trapped in Aguascalientes after a flood years ago. Train service was suspended and they had to be rescued by choppers.
I would say best time to go to Peru altogether is end of March-April or November-beginning of December. Weather is much better in fall and spring rather than summer or winter.

Another thing is to avoid carrying lots of cash in your pockets. Peru is a beautiful country but also they are many thieves (pickpocket). And this accidents happen in the day and night. Try to just take with you a decent amount of money that you might be considering spending the day..
This is what I do. Every time I visit Peru and I’m planning to go shopping, I just take around 300-400 soles in cash( 200 dollars). Because there is a risk someone with a knife or gun can stop me and steal everything that I have with me ( this is true, unfortunately)
That’s why I prefer taking just a few amount of cash that can cover my ride to and from the shopping mall, food , and the things I will be buying at the shopping mall(souvenirs, clothes, etc). And if I really like something else, and I’m out of cash, I can come back again, maybe the same day or the next day to go and get it..
It’s not a good idea to be wandering in the streets of Lima with lots of shopping bags, that can attract these “muggers”. It’s always better to have a ride ready as soon as you leave (in this case exiting the mall with your shopping bags) so you can go straight to your ride and be safe.
***If unfortunately you become a victim, DONT fight back, or Refuse to give your belonging, these people have guns and they will do everything to obtain their purpose.

6:40 only if you feel like you were treated very well (verbally) and carefully (gentle placement of dishes and revision of dishes) you give what you feel is proper. It could be 1 sol or 100, but there is no law that imposes you to give an exact number for the tip. This is why the culture of Peru is known for not giving tips to the waiters, everybody supposes that everything is included in the price.
If you were imposed to pay for the 10% of tip they are just trying to impose what apparently comes from the american culture in their restaurant, thinking that you come from there. You can report this action in the "book of complaints" that every restaurant, clinic and business shop have by law.
There is a % extra that expensive restaurants ask called a payment for "cubierto" , which really is 10% but for the restaurant not a tip for the waiters. This is for the fine bread, sauces, fine cloth to clean the mouth (instead of paper), hygiene. Even if you don't want these accessories, you still receive it cause you will have to pay it. But it has to be written in the advertisement of the restaurant (oftentimes written very tiny so that you see blurry).

Hi guys. I'm from Lima and that hole on the windows or walls is not a common thing here in Peru. That was very strange to see even for me. And yes, we do not have air conditioning in our houses. We freeze during winter, especially if you live in Miraflores and other districts that are by the sea. The closest you are to the sea, the colder and wetter it is. Lima has many microclimates and that makes it very difficult to know what to wear, even during summer. So be prepared for every weather.

I love you guys so much! ❤ Your point of view is so refreshing and its so entertaining that you present your mistakes as learning and teaching moments and just really so relatable. I'm planning a trip to Peru next year after only having traveled to Europe and the UK so thanks so much for this info. Much love and luck on your continued travels. ✌❤🤗✈

Pero que hermosa vista atrás. Con una música de fondo sería chevere.
Ps: debería visitar Puno, Arequipa, el lago Titicaca y cuzco. Buenazos

Good tips, the traffic is one of the surprises here.
Just a comment: It is nice to visit Lima during the summer (Dec/Jan), but you may find some difficulties to visit Macchu Pichu or mountains, because it is the rainy season there.

Good point. I'm from Chiclayo, where weather is hot almost all year and winter is cold but lasts only two months. I'm actually living in the San Isidro district of Lima and the weather in June is really cold, however I went to Cusco and Machu Picchu in June and while Cusco was very cold and a little frosty with under-zero temperatures at night, Machu Picchu was hot.

Guys. Come stay in Peru. It’s the number one destination for youtubers, there are a lot of things to see in Peru, not only in Lima
