Thank you both for the helpful content, I have a question for you both, If hypothetically a person is fortunate enough to be able to max out isa contributions from year to year and they still have excess cash on hand outside of a Emergency Fund, Would it be in their best interest to prioritise a SIPP or General account? Any advice is appreciated.
@@Tyrell-Jemmott in general SIPP is way more tax efficient than a general account and if you are a higher rate tax payer it is amazing! Does that help!? We have a lot More on this in week8!! Thanks Tyrell
Can I ask what happens if you set up (say) a vanguard investment that requires £100 per month and you don't pay it after a bit, can you take breaks from regular investing?
@@bettywortley9425 of course you can. Set it up. Do it while you can and it will still continue to grow even if you aren’t paying into it. There is a term called coast FI. Where you contribute, stop and continue to work and then your investments grow in the back ground getting you to FI!
My guess is that the ethical investing has nothing tp do with trying to change a company 's behaviour but everything with 'what makes you sleep at night '. For example. Would you want to invest in companies that produce weapons. You not buying the stock doesn't change the world, but at least you can say you're not profiteering from other people being shot to pieces. Ethical investing can thus be incredibly important for the investor.
Really interesting thoughts. Thank you. You have inspired us! The story is that if you don’t ESG invest index funds then you are supporting arms companies. My feeling is that it is mainly to alcohol and oil companies that don’t get invested in. There is only one way to know. I don’t have a problem investing in alcohol companies! I don’t drink but people are going to buy alcohol no matter my thoughts and it is their right to choose! You have inspired us to look more closely at the exact things that get removed in ESG funds. Thank you for adding a thoughtful perspective!

Just an FYI - the 2015 NHS pension is a career average (still DB), not final salary pension.
It is interesting how they are changing it as they go! We are going to do a piece of work understanding all this stuff!
