This game was my childhood, and I come back to it with nostalgia on occasion. This is just purely impressive. Love seeing something so great done with such great skill.

May not be world record anymore but I'm still blown away! This is amazing!
I hope it made you happy :) PS2 world record is now 7:08 (2 way tie between me and IN), but PS3 has since been found to be quicker due to loads, despite having access to less tech. Maybe worth checking out some other categories!
Speedrunners really are something else and i don't understand 99% of whatever the fuck is happening but i'm intrigued for sure

I started speedrunning in November of 2017, and I have largely played just this game since then. So more than 6 years :)
Also i want to share something (idk if it's useful probably not and already known but in case)
On snivelak, against the giganto mech, if i quickly chargeboots at the center of his 2 foots as soon as the start begins, the robot become glitchy and don't do nothing (he don't even shoot himself) ; like it's look like he is trying to fly like he usually do when you come this close from him, but he likely can't and he struggle.
I don't master everything with this glitch, what i mean is he have a leg up and a leg that stay on the ground (most of the times) and he do rotations on himself but i don't master his rotations (which is annoying bc my goal is to poke him with the tetrabomber), in fact It's look like he do turn according to my camera or ratchet angle (idk i don't really understand how it's work)
I tried to record it so i have a video of me beating him in around 23sec starting from the checkpoint, with a bad luck (i struggle to poke him on the video and i try to avoid him to rotate but it's hard) but for a non speedrunner i still happy beating him in 23sec,
And, since i don't know if it work not from the checkpoint (because that would mean you have to suicide before and comeback which is slower), maybe if it work and you can do it as soon as you triggered the cutscene, you can avoid doing proxys / setup and so beating him a bit faster with this ? Idk

@@squd322 I realise this is an extremely late response but I did actually end up looking into this. Stunlock is consistent, but a stunlock where you can then poke isn't consistent enough. As he can't shoot himself however you end up losing some time. Doing a setup like this is about the same as poking with jump-pad route, but the proxy route I use is roughly 5 seconds faster. So essentially, that stunlock is rougly 5s slower. Nice idea though.

Can someone explain why so many of these NG+ speedruns don't start at the beginning of the game?
We use a trick called IMG (Insomniac Museum Glitch). Every version of the game has a method of doing it, but on the ps2, American Black Label version, its as simple as visiting the insomniac museum from the specials mene and then leaving. As you picked up on, it skips about 2/3 of the game. If you want to watch an NG+ run with that part of the game, look at ng+ no IMG.
Momentum storage with cutscenes doesn't work on rac 2?
I don't entirely know what you're talking about, but if you mean neutral speed, then yeah in most cases it doesn't work, due to the length of the cutscenes. It does work in some niche examples, like the 'break glass' cutscene on tabora. It also does work on ps3 where loads are faster, but this is ps2.
@@feargames4270 I think this is neutral speed but i'm not sure so i'll explain better ;
On RaC 1, you can punch with the walloper, then pause when you're at max speed, go to the goodies menu, play a cutscene and directly double tap start to skip and close the pause menu, so in game you will keep the momentum from the punch but you can do sideflips and jump / long jumps to preserve it and so to move faster. (I believe this is that, I hope you know what i'm talking about)
In RaC 2, from what i understood, chargeboots directly reach the max cap speed, and you can do neutrals and things like that directly from chargeboots speed, but, for others categories like any%, APB, 100% etc where you don't have, or not directly the chargeboots, but just clank packs instead, can't you do that momentum storage thing to go faster ? I never see this in Rac 2 runs that's why i ask
I don't know if there is cutscenes playables in the menu in ng0 but I believe you can press select to open the map and then press circle to play infobot cutscene (idk if this is useful, i asked if infobot cutscene is useful in Rac 1 to do momentum storage and it's apparently not)
And also, why runners in Rac 2 don't do tricks from RAC 1 ? Like doing a first long jump, then neutral then chains to build speed? Or mid air long jump ? (Not sure about this one, i believe I saw it but not sure) it's look like a lot of mouvement tech from RAC 1 isn't realised on Rac 2 runs, on any% for exemple
(And what cutscene length or load speed have to do with all of this?)

Ah okay you were talking about a different thing i see. Walloper tech, or any form of pausing and/or playing videos to preserve speed does not work in rac2. As for chaining longjumps, unlike rac1 where chaining together several longjumps/midairs is easy, in rac2 chaining longjumps is frame perfect (1/60 second) and gains less speed. You can chain sideflips in the same way, but again its less effective, and only faster than just thruster pack in very specific situations. Rac2 also has less 'free' midairs, in that you dont get as much height, or speed from them, and they can't turn you as far. All of these things make the meta for rac2 completely different. Hope that clears it up :)
Oh also to further expand, yeah chargeboots take you to max speed instantly, so even with clank you're still better off just charging in straight lines where possible.

A lot of them work, but you have to do then a little differently. Anything in the air doesn't work unfortunately. Ps3 is a significantly patched version, but also has its own unique glitches. I would recommend checking out Emeralve's ps3 runs to see whats possible!

Not at all, this run you watched is completely unmodded! Just an ntsc-u ps2 with a black label game. Completely stock standard!

How did you get access to the Swingshot?
Swingshot storage is a design oversight in which when you defeat protopet to enter challenge mode, whatever weapon/gadget was your secondary at that time remains into the ng+ file. This way, you can keep and use swingshot in a new file.

Insomniac museum glitch. Theres a way to do it on every version of the game, but for this version (black label, ntsc-u, ps2) all you need to do is go to the museum through shortcuts and then leave. Thats literally it lmao. Watch my NG+ no IMG world record if you're curious how the run looks without this glitch

Why You start on insomniac muséum
I dont, I start on the regular starting planet, and then I go to insomniac museum straight away. On this version of the game, all I have to do then is leave and it skips 2/3 of the game.
