  • Sometimes it’s fun to take advantage of all the many control voltage sources in a modular synth and run them all over the place, controlling all kinds of things. But, as an experiment, what if we take just one control voltage source, and patch it to as many parameters as we possibly can?

    Maths was one of the first modules I ever owned, and I did something that was reminiscent of this because I had so few modulation sources... I keep thinking I need to experiment with these kinds of sounds again, as it's really easy to make "traditional" voices now... Thanks for the reminder to try different things!

    i just got my qpas the other day and have been doing similar things with it! I use a sloths and then mult it, attenuate it, feed it to an ASR along with the morphagene cv out that was clocked with the morphagene EOSG pulse output and then feed that back into the qpas, mimeophon and morphagene. weird kinda feedback loopy cv experiements that kind of does it's own thing and was really chill to just sit with for a while.

It does show me when it is live, but then it disappears again. Since these are prerecorded, maybe you should just upload them normally instead of hyping it like this. I still love your products!

      Hello, thanks for your feedback. I apologize for the inconvenience. There are a couple reasons we use the Premiere format:
      1. We can chat with folks during the Premiere and get excited together about theory and technique.
      2. We particularly like doing this at the same time every week if possible.
      3. On a more practical note, UA-cam's algorithm decides how much to suggest a video based on how many views it gets in the first hour. So if we want to grow the channel (which we do), we are more or less forced to do it this way. LUCKILY, we almost never take videos down. The MAIN reason for their existence remains to be a resource for our customers and others. At any time you can go to our channel, click the Video tab, and see the releases in reverse chronological order to make sure you didn't miss anything. Thanks for watching!

But alas my rack is small and lacking in modulation sources and utilities, guess I'll have to buy more gear!

  • @CinematicLaboratory
    @CinematicLaboratory 4 роки тому

    Hey Walker, could you please explain why the EOC remains high when the cycle is running? I think it's because 'fall' is completely CCW, so is it really an EOF?

    • @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC
      @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC  4 роки тому

      EOR and EOC are exact logical inversions of each other. On the Function module you can see this more obviously because it has both outputs on a single channel. If one is high, the other is low, and vice versa. EOR is high only during the Fall stage. EOC is high during the Rise stage and when the circuit is idle. Does that make sense?

    • @CinematicLaboratory
      @CinematicLaboratory 4 роки тому

      Yes, thank you. It was not how I expected it to work, though. I was expecting EOC at the end of a full cycle set by rise/fall on channel 4.

    • @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC
      @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC  4 роки тому

      @@CinematicLaboratory The EOC does go high at the end - the moment the Fall stage is over. And stays high until the next Fall stage.

    So as I mentioned in a previous comment, this is how you should start every song. So I made a song, and patched a very similar patch to create a cool intro. I used another complex VCO (don't have the DPO sadly..) and used its final output. Then I also used a STO to create a similar voice, hard panned to the other channel. It created a really huge, wide field. Great for a intro.
    Have a listen ;)

    This ramp sound caused me so much anxiety that I had to stop the video before I had a full-blown PANIC ATTACK ! I'm extremely sensitive to sound, that's probably why I am a musician as well as other people who have strong reactions to sound. This over-sensitive reaction which occurred during this video was rather odd...💥👀💦

    Just out of curiosity do you all recommend the use of banana/stackable cables with your systems?

    • @d_imil9132
      @d_imil9132 4 роки тому

      Stackable cables are absolutely fine with most any eurorack (though for audio you probably want a buffered mult), you can stack multiple times even. However, banana cables are not compatible with eurorack, those are for Buchla systems I believe, possibly others as well. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here on that.

    • @timnordberg7204
      @timnordberg7204 4 роки тому

      i've used "stackables" with MN modules for years with no problems. but I'd caution against stacking very high, especially if your synth is set up in a vertical orientation. a four-high stacked jack might eventually wear out the square-wave output jack of your LFO, for example, and cause a loose connection in the future. I'd recommend stacking end-to-end instead, across your system.

    • @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC
      @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC  4 роки тому +1

      The 0-CTRL comes with stacking cables, otherwise we usually put in a Mult or CV Bus. It's ultimately a matter of preference. As others have said you should definitely patch end-to-end instead of making a big tower, and I also usually connect the cables together before putting them in the jack.

    • @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC
      @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC  4 роки тому

      Oh and yes, banana cables are a whole different format that will not work with our modules.
