As always your skill with this sort of musical sound design really shows, the soundscapes you create with this are beautiful. This really makes me want to come back to music and modular synthesis. Make Noise should make this a standard system you can just get as a whole! It seems like a lot of fun.

Great sounds. But yea anything running through QPAS and mimieophon will sound magical. Those two help this module immensely. I’ve been messing with my spectraphon for a few weeks now, and jury is still out. Yes it’s an incredibly interesting concept using the spectral arrays as “waveforms”. But everything through it has that brassy, sizzling digital artifact resonator sound. Super interesting, but everything ends up having that same “flavor” to it.

If you are interested in playing with FFT and don't have a zillion dollars, Plogue Bidule is a great ~$100 modular software that will let you do all kinds of awful things with it. It will let you take apart frequency and amplitude data and play with them separately. It's a great way to learn how this technology works - really useful to know because it's in EVERYTHING.

I don’t have to make a decision on this for six months or so, and I’ll use the time to absorb various approaches to it in as many demos as possible. This is the best use I’ve seen of it so far (I’ve not watched Robert’s yet) and I’m sure I could have fun with this. However, it’s clear that it’s not something one should go at like a bull at a gate- I’m sure it rewards patience.

You make it sound gorgeous. The Spectraphon is definitely another of Make Noise's modules on my "if I had money to spend on music gear" list. (The Mimeophon, Maths, and Wogglebug are already high on that list, as is the ∅-Control.)
I need to get back to my DIY Wogglebug design (it's based on Erica's open-source Swamp), and then build a Benjolin, because I kept getting distracted thinking about what the sound of those two feeding back into each other would be. Rungling woggles or woggling runglers? Hmmm.

I'm really tempted to get one, though it seems i would need to use the VCO capability to really make it worth it. I use just external sound sources and Eurorack as a processor, so would want a way to generate a V/O signal from those to play and mangle them in realtime. Hmm.
