I tried the same setup, Triax 1.28, confi 1.25 all at 48lb in Vcore 97. It’s been around 5h of play already. I found this hybrid is powerful. Sometimes too powerful. I definitely can see how shaped cross cofi cuts through soft Triax like a knife through butter.
Interesting review. I was a long time Hyper G user, went to Confidential as I find it more predictable, but I have started playing with a quite open 16x19 (Angell TC95) and neither offer a decent longevity, as the aggressive edges of those strings dig into the mains and make them snap between 4 and 6 hours of play. So I went to a round poly instead, 4G Soft, which increases the life to 8+ hours and has plenty of control and spin. Now, the issue is that 4G Soft is not really soft, and is a tad uncomfortable in a full bed, so I am looking for a softer cross to gain some comfort and feel. I've just bought some Triax that I will put in the crosses. Normally, in a full bed of 4G Soft, I string 50 mains / 48 crosses, but in this hybrid I will go 4G Soft in mains at 50 and Triax crosses at 52. I'm quite keen to see how it plays. Thoughts?
Johnny Guitar… are you a Johnny “Guitar” Watson fan by chance? Interesting you want to put 4G Soft in the mains, Triax will bite the ball but not as much if you put 4G Soft in the cross. Honestly, I have never hit with 4G Soft… now I will have to order some “Element” and 4G sets in the future. I am glad you found the review interesting. Feel free to check out our other string and tennis ball reviews 😀🎾
@@thetennisjones3728 Johnny Guitar is a reference to an old Western. But yes, I like Johnny Guitar Watson. Regarding Triax in mains vs. cross, I come from a full bed of poly, so I think it is a more progressive approach to have Triax in the crosses, to keep the spin and control of 4G Soft, but making the overall bed a tad less stiff and a bit more responsive. Plus, doing the other way around, I'm pretty sure the harder poly would quickly eat into the multifilament.
@@thetennisjones3728 i am trying hyper g and hyper g soft as the tennis warehouse ratings have it at a lower stiffness than confidential.lets see. Thanks for the advice.
@randeep… I would advise you stay away from Hyper - G Soft… it’s not so soft! We have covered this feel free to check out “My Thoughts on Hyper - G Soft” video… it is in our archive.
Hello thank you for the video. I’m about to try a hybrid set up for the first time with solinco confidential and technifibre x-one biphase. Have you tried this combo before, and if you haven’t, what would you expect hitting with this hybrid combo? Thanks again
Aaron… X-One Biphase is a lively string. I have never tried a hybrid with X-One Biphase… that being said you should string X-One Biphase at 24kgs in the mains and Confidential at 22 kgs in the cross strings.
Hi Aaron, interesting to hybrid x1 biphase with solinco confidential. How did you find the setup? What tensions did you string the mains and crosses and what racket do you use?
Marco... honestly the Confidential mutes some of the power from Triax... AND THAT IS A GOOD THING! You want the bite of Confidential when you are hitting with spin. Triax on its own is fine as well... I suggest stringing at either 24 or 25 kilos.
@@thetennisjones3728 thanks. So it reduces power and helps with spin generation? I really like full bed Triax in my tf40 at 24kg, will try your hybrid setup next
@@marcorenato1814… when you do this cocktail of Triax & Confidential string Triax (mains)@ 24 kgs and Confidential in the cross at 22.5 kgs… 23 kgs is ok as well
Can you compare confidential in mains n triax cross? Is it still easy on the arm??? I have arm problems when using full poly but the ball has high launch angle with full multi setup.
Oz Turk... Triax is very easy on the arm. I could easily compete with a full bed of Triax... you want a poly to hybrid with for more bite on the ball. I found Confidential to be comfortable... not as hard as other people have said. Honestly, for power you want the Multifilament in the mains. Of course you could string a polyester in the mains... you would also feel more shock as well. Stick to a tried and true multi in the mains and poly in the cross 😄🎾
@@thetennisjones3728 ok. The crosses doesnt create the spin so should i just put in a cheap soft round poly in the crosses to lower launch angle? I had the setup for two weeks. I didn’t notice any wear on the Triax portion of the stringbed. The tension maintenance was quite good. I enjoyed the feel very much 😄🎾
Cool! Did you find triax to move out of place especially after 2 weeks? Im hoping this would be a good alternative to gut/poly hybrid. What tension did you use for the playtest? Many thanks for the review
@@djblackwing737... for me the Triax hardly moved... that being said I think the more spin you hit the more the string would move. Tecnifibre does put a special coating on Triax to allow it to snap back... as the string life endures its ability to snap back decreases.
I've got this string set up coming for a blade v7 18x20 but I only play 4 or 5 hours a week so my question is In that 2 week time frame how many hours do you think you played with this hybrid?
I think Triax is a string engineering disaster. No feel. No spin. Dead. Confidential is great though. Predictable. Let's you swing with confidence. If you feel it's a little stiff, a surprisingly nice and affordable cross is Wilson Syn Gut Power 16g. I would have never thought of using it, but bought another string and the seller threw in a set of syn gut power, so I tried it and was happily surprised. It works well with both smooth and shaped poly mains and at 16g, it holds up well and is slick enough to let the mains snap back for increased spin. Give it a shot. A good, budget poly main is msv focus hex 1.27. It can be found under $10 and works great full bed or crossed with the Wilson syn gut power.
Hello James 😊 I do not share your view of Triax… that is what makes our 🌍 go around. We have reviewed many strings and I encourage you to go through our archive. Really like solinco confidential. Amazing control but using it in my rf97 has caused tennis elbow
@Randeep… you need to drop your tension at least 1.5 kilos… if you have customized your racquet you need to decrease some of that weight as well.
