"I love you baby, you are so insane and so stupid" What sort of weird ass reaction is that to hearing your fiance admit to double murder.
No one except someone who knows their bf is confessing to save them would say that.
"...and I hate you for screwing it up"
You were sloppy, babe. I could have done better.
Another Sociopath. Proven FACT; 'Likeness Attracts Likeness' Very rarely do 'Opposites Attract'
Well said
I'm sorry to inform you that if you are able to turn your back to someone you love as soon as you hear they did something bad, almost as if you're turning off a switch, YOU ARE THE SOCIOPATH
I could never imagine having a wedding, 2 plays, and a double murder in the same week.
I'd be so freaking stressed.
Yeah, I can't even do a 15 minute conversation with someone without having to take a nap and recharge myself
Yeah, maybe if they hired a professional wedding planner this wouldn't have happened.

Right?? He ACTUALLY thought they were going to let him go if he just told the truth.
Rachel is rotten in her core. Dan is pathetic. I certainly wish Sam and Julie had never met them either.
What kind of evidence is there to prove our suspicions that Rachel knew exactly what was going to happen?
Personally, I believe she knew (maybe helped plan it) because she said she was mad he "screwed it up".
There are only rumors and speculation. We cannot convict on speculation.
So now what? She goes through life doing her thing? Not acceptable.
Dan is mad delulu. to tell the detectives that you saw a dead body and helped with the getaway AND STILL think you're going to your wedding on Friday. incredible

I feel so bad for the Herr and Kibuishi families.
Sam's dad is so amazing. A man of good character.
He did not hesitate to call for help, even though his son looked really guilty.
I am just so sorry for their loss and cannot imagine their pain. I am so sorry.
Good point. His son did look really guilty.
I'd like to think that would be most of us, but who knows...
You made the kindest comment, thank you for being a wonderful person
If we’re being honest, the horrific acting in the play deserves its own charge.
It's horrific I'll never be the same again that's for sure, I use to have hope and enjoy life now I'm just wondering around in the darkness I feel so alone 😢
I sat through 3 hours of so-called acting and the kiss was the only convincing moment in it!
The absolute state of the performing arts in our world and the delusional people in its orbit is a state of affairs that breaks my heart... it also fills me a motivational rage to find the few not insane people and do something about it... And doing something about it we are. Finally.
Wasn't easy to find some folks who weren't totally insane narcissists though, or had been driven to the edge of reason by these totally insane actors steering the ship into the rocks. The industry has been rotten to the core for thirty years and it's heartbreaking to people who love the expression of fine arts performed by exceptional individuals in an outstanding team. The sometimes brutally honest art of qualitative distinction, selecting and judging high quality individuals, has been poisoned by bad ideas such as inclusivity, accessibility (which has its place when kept in check) the pure toxicity identity politics injected into the ability to judge people by their individual qualities.
This gets real political, real fast, especially where I live in Australia... All we want to do is put the huge waste of relatively limited but very expensive resources, back into the highly skilled and disciplined who performers who have clearly earned it, and have it organised by teams of highly disciplined and effective executives who can unapologetically sort the treasures from the flukes.
I don't think that's too much to ask and the public is craving it. After years of being spoon fed what we're told is chocolate ice cream, which sometimes even looks like chocolate ice cream, but upon consumption obviously tastes like a big bowl of shit to almost everyone who's not fucking crazy... The gaslighting has worn off and regular people, (who aren't as stupid as the Industry insiders think) take one look at what passes for art and say to those delusional industry insiders "sooo... this is a joke right?"
But nope, they seriously expect you to swallow it, have it paid for by your tax dollars and if you don't like it, well they'll just tell themselves you're probably just too stupid to understand it.
They are great, all their work is of the highest standards and if its not well received by the sane people, then its your fault their companies are floundering and you need to cough up so they can put on the next thing nobody cares about or ever will.
Ahem... Sorry, that may have been a rant. It hit a little close to home there. But I'll add a few words from the wise: never ever date actors, especially good ones. They are almost always disordered narcissistic psychos, and they can suck even those who know into their delusional self entitled games.
They can usually turn it on and off at will, which if it didn't make them such dangerous people to involve in your life, would be a fascinatingly uncanny human ability to observe.
But self untitled delusional narcissistic bullies they almost always are, whenever you work with them, someone with authority needs to have them on a very short leash.
I am not that guy, as I learnt the hard way... Twice. The second woman was far better at it and it took me years to stop seeing her. She could go from being almost in tears in bed, saying"I love you so much, you're the best thing in my life" and as soon as you spot the games, or fail to give them what they want, it instantly goes to "I will ruin you, I know all your secrets and how to hurt you."
She tried to ruin me, thankfully nobody was buying her BS anymore... But I often think, there was a period time after I called her out, that she was so driven by paranoia to protect her persona and public reputation, that I fully believe that if she could have killed me, or found someone she could convince to kill me, she would have killed me. She would have been totally okay with it, her secrets would be safe and it wouldn't cross her mind again... unless she got caught of course, oh she'd turn it on then and attempt a performance to rationalise any action she felt justified in.
I didn't tell anyone else about what happened in private between us, or even let anyone outside of our social circle, who already knew, that we quietly dated for years and towards the end it was a living hell.
Sorry that was an additional rant. But seriously don't date actors, essentially good ones. It allows looks like you've hit the jackpot at the start, it's unbelievable how they're interested in you, but then you realise that winning the lottery is almost always a curse, an illusion that will consume you if you don't see reason. If a person who you know cares about you and gives wise advice with your interests at heart tells you that you need to cut a person in your life off now and do what's necessary to protect yourself immediately... don't ignore them, you already know they're right, so don't walk away, RUN!
If I can save just one sane human being from the maddening drama of such potentially dangerous narcissistic psychos, such as the ones in the video and in my life.... well my rant here was worth it.
I'm still working on moving on from the madness, it's getting easier and she's getting worse. But thankfully, court ordered to be nowhere near me.
I've gotta copy that, got my journal entry for the day, Christmas day here, all done
Putting it there is slightly embarassing, but delete it I will not. I stand by every word.
Glad I didn’t have to say it, ty
Death sentence for the play alone
Brutally killing two friends so he could go on a honeymoon cruise he couldn't afford and thinking you're such a gifted actor you'll get away with it. Dan is possibly the most narcissistic killer I've ever heard of. I really feel for Sam's father having to go through all the emotional turmoil, his son being hunted as an armed and dangerous killer when all the while he's a victim. Poor Sam, he was dead as soon as Dan found out he had 60 thousand in savings. That he worked for. I don't believe Dan's claims of being crazy, it was just another bad act by a selfish, irresponsible monster. Rachel is just a really awful, selfish and zero compassion.
Wow, very well said!!
As much as we think we know and trust other people, do we really? Poor Sam just thought he was talking with a friend of his, but Dan and Rachel were so self-centered that they couldn’t understand why Sam had something they didn’t have.
Damn
Hmm kill two friends for 60 grand or rob a bank and get double or triple that and not have to kill anyone. Hmm, decisions decisions. Either way, I'm unemployed, deeply in debt, and about to go on a wild honeymoon. They'll never figure it out, either way I get the cash to make my honeymoon special.
His literal claim "I'm crazy"
Welp, that's believable! Sure, go for the insanity defense, tell the jury the same thing, they'll take your word for it! Cuz that's how this works.
Substitute stupid for crazy and it all makes sense...

@@Max-px5ymit’s funny in the way that it’s ridiculous that someone lacks the common sense to know that throwing evidence over a fence doesn’t do anything. The fact that two ppl died isn’t funny, but the fact that someone could be that dense IS funny, if that makes sense.
Rachel said "i love you" "you're insane" "i hate you for it" in almost a weird playful way as if he just played a joke on her.
Or as if she already knew about it.
She was sooooo involved.. like she was so calm when she asked him what he did.. and she was like ur insane and I love u.. ummmm he murdered 2 people and was eating sushi with ur family.. that would make an innocent wife to be freak the heck out, not say ur insane and I love u..
That's easy to say when you're observing as an outsider. She was literally gonna marry this guy, this wasn't just some boyfriend, and emotions usually run deep and can't be changed quickly even if logic says they should. Also, she seemed pretty ignorant about the evidence Tim had, was adamant about it being shown, and seemed to be in shock at the end of that call.

Imagine murdering two of your "friends" and then going on to do a musical as if nothing happened. Sociopath behavior. Rachel was likely involved here too.
That was the weirdest part to me too. I can barely imagine the kind of person who would do that. How could that person be a functional adult and be in polite society and also be capable of that.

It was the victims boyfriends father who was also a victim
It was Sam’s dad.
His victim impact statement at the end was pretty intense, and fair play that he'd want to kill Dan himself.
It must be so traumatic as a father to find a murdered body in their home…
Not only from witnessing the body, but from the fact you can only think of one person who could be able to do it: your son
Which must hurt enotmously. To have to call 911 for your son having done a murder, wondering what you did wrong as a father for that to happen(even if he was a perfect dad, as a parent, if our children does something bad, it still makes us question ourself)
The trauma the father must been in during the investigation, only to find out that sam wasnt a murderer on the run, but another victim of a murder from a serial killer, who attempted to hide sam while leaving julie to try to frame sam as the murderer
@@jesush.tap-dancingchrist7328 I wish they'd allow that instead of wasting our tax dollars to keep monsters fed and clothed for the rest of their lives. Let God sort them out. 🤷♂️
What's even more disturbing is, the play was about a dead body inside a hope chest in the middle of the room, that everyone in the room knows about, and is trying to distract the detective away from (comedy-wise).

Even a murderer gotta sleep and eat at some point. Perhaps he thought if he drowned out his thoughts by doing what he loved could help detour his inner demons.
There was a reason for them to kill Sam--the money--but there was absolutely no reason for them to kill Julie. She was not involved with this whatsoever and was basically just a totally pointless murder. There being a reason doesn't make the murder of Sam any better but there being no real reason to have even involved, never mind murder Julie...is some next level depravity.
It would have been one thing if they made it seem like Sam killed her and then killed himself but they did nothing of the sort--they seemingly decapattacked him which really could never lend itself to any kind of murder-suicide insinuation or presumption by police.
And by they I mean Dan *and* Rachel--she was clearly involved and got off far too easily/lightly unfortunately.
When I heard Rachael say "I love you" when he said he killed them I immediately knew she had some involvement... How could you said that to a murder?????? 😵

To an innocent person, the immediate response would more likely be, "Why? Why did you do that!?" in gesture about the person killed and why he thought that was ok. To a guilty party, they would know the death was coming, and killing someone in response to the question would be more about others, a witness or the disconnect, "how did no one hear the gun?" as a means to wonder about in the moment for "get away" questions.

Did the video mention the victims corpse was backstage at the theater he was performing? I saw this on tv and wasn't sure if they mentioned that, too. Thanks a lot, Gavin, for not putting this monster to death.
The scariest part of this case is that his girlfriend got less than 3 years in prison. Her reaction alone to him telling her about murdering two people in cold blood should’ve gotten her more time. She’ll be responsible for more lives taken in the future in my opinion, because she’s just as sick as he is.
I remember when That Chapter covered this case, and cringing at Dan's theatrical laughing to portray himself as crazy. This was horrible. They planned it to sound like She had nothing to do with it, and Dan being the narcissist fool, probably wrote it and thought irt was great.

Wow.

This presentation is off the hook.
Brilliant.
This is definitely one of the most disturbing interrogations I have ever seen. I can’t believe he killed his friend like that…Literally dismembered his body for a couple hundred. And let’s not get started on his pathetic fiancé. She has zero remorse for the innocent people who died.
SnapszDuhh heres a story that happen to a friend of mine, he had a beautiful wife a center fold, he was this short chubby guy, they had a scam going at local bars, they would go in he would set up at the counter her at a table alone looking seductive men would see her and think i would like some of that and send a bottle of bud or miller to her table after she had a 6-24pkg he would get up walk over give her a big kiss sit down and start drinking, it was hilarious, to see how those men acted after, we were at work when his wife was followed home, when we found her she was in a pool of blood she was 81/2 months at that time and the child laid next to her, her throat had been cut and her legs removed with a meat clever, why because her murder had a leg fetish he liked the way she moved, security cams caught him throwing her legs into a river, the newspaper for whatever reason listed everything wrong, her murder got 50 years her hubby died in 2017 so the next time theres a knock at your door make sure you know who it is before opening it
This is why capitalism is a joke

Rachel thinking Dan was in love with her and not Sam….or the 17 boy he was “mentoring”.
Not confirmed. Just a hunch…🤷🏻♀️😬🤨🤔
Not trying to offend anyone either my sister and her wife are the best people I know. My super religious “good southern baptist” other relatives…..
Some of the WORST people. On this planet. Also, being a RN for 20 years and seeing everything and anything and learning very fast to.
Not judge folks.
Not think that there are as many manipulative, selfish, awful people out there.
Listening to those folks complain about their sprained ankle and demanding narcotics while your patient next door is literally dying of pancreatic cancer (most painful, brutal way to go IMO) and ask to NOT be overly sedated so they can remember their last minutes alive with their family. Same age. One has money and connections (🙄) the other one blue collar but the sweetest people. Guess which one is which more often than not….
With friends like this you don't even need enemies, how nice.
R.I.P. Sam. Thanks for your service
I find it hard to believe he did that for $400 or even $2k. I mean he could have just handled the loan sharks in self defence instead. He was obviously capable of it.
When suspect's lie during interrogations and think they've gotten away with it just to get busted from evidence shortly after are the best.
The girlfriend most likely planned this, no way does a normal person say, "I love you baby, idk whats going on in that crazy lil mind of yours", after hearing they murdered two people. You say that after they take the fall for you, and you're trying to seem like you'll wait for them or something.
I agree 100%
I was thinking the same thing. Was waiting for her to be revealed as the mastermind. To me, that guy seems like the type of dude who can be fairly easily manipulated by women. And with the wedding coming up, its usually not the man pushing for extravagance. His fiance most likely stressed their funds to the max, and needed to get her hands on more wedding cash. Her response to his call, and afterward as a whole, just screams guilt.
Not even just two random people, these were their best friends. If you watch the dateline it goes more in depth to how good of friends they were. It's horrible.
I like how he casually says "so we can eliminate you" without pre context 😅
lmao at the "are you sure?" from the dispatcher
The way she reacted when supposedly learning her boyfriend killed someone was scary ... you did it for me !!!

That operator is so great. Not only was she compassionate but she also didn’t keep asking the same freaking question of “is she dead” in different ways 50 times in a row.
OMG, I know! I've been so very fortunate to have never dialed 911, but I swear if I had to & got one of those operators that ask the same question after it's already been answered (more times often more than once!), I'd lose it!
Kinda sad that a dispatcher doing her job right stands out so much these days. (Not sarcasm. This woman was great, and we need more like her.)
She actually wasn't good. Her job was to keep him on the phone until the police got there but she just agitated him and made him hang up.
@@jaredfulford5111 Interrupting him by asking him who he was talking to was probably a mistake but I think she did OK. Sometimes the operator gets agitated and loud when the person on the phone is agitated and loud and she didn't do that.
Yeah Steve is an asshole
He committed double homicide of a friend and innocent woman over a measly two grand?
Yes! He did! Tiny brained soulless little Sh8.
Apparently Sam had $60k in the bank. It's easy to save $ when in the military and single and don't have to pay rent.
With the money trouble Dan and Rachel were having, and the enormous costs of the wedding, their jealousy was too much for them to overcome when they somehow found out how much money poor ol' Sam was sitting on in the bank.
@@philojudaeusofalexandria9556 Sam had an apartment, so he was clearly paying rent.
@@tonyj9743 I was referring to when he was active military (i.e. why he might have had so much cash saved up compared to his broke friend). If you're single and in the military, you don't need to keep an apartment/house. Saves a lot of money.
Obviously I am aware he was paying rent when the murders occurred.
@philojudaeusofalexandria9556 I get what you were trying to say, but not quite. The only people living free in the military are single lower enlisted who are forced to live on base, and they definitely aren't rolling in cash(unless theyre deployed overseas). Even then, they are typically losing money compared to someone who lives out in town, as you just pocket the difference.
I say this as someone who spent 15 years unmarried in the military, but I was only living rent or mortgage free during that 1st year.
He performed at a musical after DISMEMBERING someone. The level of insanity is baffling.
This is really insane. Possibly the most insane true crime story I have ever seen. The twist actually took me by surprise because the two of them seemed so mild-mannered at the outset. Extremely disturbing in so many respects.

im amazed at how many people talk openly on a recorded jail phone.
Police dispatcher operators always be like "hold on hold on let me get a pen, sheesh."
They didn't include the part where Dan LURED Herr up above the theater saying he needed help moving something and shot him while Herr went to grab it for him, Herr was so trusting of his friend that when he was shot the first time and didn't die he was confused about it and said "something hit me in the head" before he shot him again...
So messed up
Imagine having to cancel your wedding because your fiancé was arrested for a double homicide. 😐
Rachel dodged a bullet, I guess. Her life with ol’ Danny boy would have been filled with a lot of misery.
You didn't finish the video did you? She got time too.
Yeah, that's bad lol
She clearly planned the entire thing, don't worry about the part where she hid incriminating evidence from the police or lied about the events to deflect blame, look at how she reacts when Dan tells her he killed two people. "I understand babe it's all good haha".

The best part of this whole video or worst part depending, is Rachel saying I love you, baby after he confesses to killing two innocent people. She is obviously just as guilty as he is of being a sociopath
The girlfriend response over the jail call is weird. I feel like even if she is blindly in love the fact that she found out he had killed some woman, if I was completely unaware but want to be supportive, would cancel all of that. I would automatically think he was having an affair. She doesn't even seem to not only care he killed someone acts like he is just silly in love.
