I did BA A380 business class from IAD to LHR last year when I took my mom on a VV cruise of the Mediterranean. I was not impressed at all, paying $2k a person without seat selection was terrible. We were stuck on the lower level (so no nice storage compartment on the side) and my mom’s seat broke halfway through the flight and wouldn’t go up. The attendants were terrible and each kept telling her to put her seat up until they realized it was broken (this happened with 4 different attendants until they finally all knew her seat was broken). After that experience, I’ll never give BA a cent. Much much better options out there with better seats and tech (Air France, KLM, United, Delta etc)
I fly Business/first class when ever the flight is more than 5 hours. Especially on the 14 hr flights I used to do each year. I like Delta and United. The Jet Blue Mint class is super for traveling solo, but you're too separated from your partner, if traveling with someone. I could barely see the top of my wife's head last summer. The worst was TAP Portugal. That was cramped and the food looked/tasted like it plopped out of a cat food tin. Have not done a BA flight in over 40 years, so it was good to see what they're offering. Thank you.
This is SUPER helpful info…we’re trying to do an international bucket list item in business class (via rewards)… Its been a nightmare trying to just narrow down an airline (not to mention which plane & route). So its GREAT to hear opinions on which business class ppl find best for long hauls 🥰
Oh, the thought of travelling solo in this configuration was enough to trigger my anxiety - I wouldn't be able to stop making eye contact with my neighbour, haha!
Love your sense of humour Richard 😂. Thanks for this review , I think I’ll let my husband take the window seat for a change on our BA business flight in January 😂. I’ll take Helen’s choice and actually get to watch the TV. Hope there’s a Heinz cream salad on our flight 😋
Only ever flown Club Europe and it was ‘okay’. Food was fine and crew have always been great. Even had a royal on one flight from Berlin that took up the entire front row. In one flight the crew were handing out mini bottles of champagne unopened telling us to ‘take them home’. The Heathrow lounges I surprisingly enjoyed - not the best in the world compared to Qatar, SIA, Emirates or even Virgin Atlantic, like you said always crowded but I always found the food offerings excellent and the afternoon tea scones and sandwich very fresh and delish. But those Int seats look very 20 years out of date (although if the alternative was economy I’d wouldn’t complain).
i few toronto to heathrow on a BA 777 in business class and the seat broke during the flight (i'm not a heavy man) and could not get the seat back up for landing so the flight attendant put me into an empty first class section seat...even that seat was worn out with little doors that would close and chipped edges plus the seat fabric came unstitched about 3" long...i'm sure the next passenger sitting there would not be impressed after pay a huge amount for it...BA planes need a lot of TLC.
Really appreciate this review, as most are for solo travelers. Looking at an international trip with family and BA's business class is notably less expensive than other carriers. Only competitors are Virgin Atlantic and maybe Air France. If we had to pay KLM or Emirates prices, we'd just be economy. Even if it's not quite as nice, being able to lie down due to back issues could really make it worth it, especially with 2 long overnight legs. Don't mind the ying yang seating, so we can see/talk to each other. The screen being unusable was really inexcusable, though.
Hysterical, Rich! Coincidentally, Veronica and I are flying to Paris via business class on a A380 in a couple of days. We have a Viking "France's Finest" itinerary awaiting us. Your review was timely indeed. I am ready for my Aviation G&T!
What a delight to see this video! We just flew the BA A380 back from a Ponant cruise (Venice/Dalmatian Coast) two weeks ago. The top section of the plane is really unique. Your review was spot on and thank you so much for explaining the mystery of the "dressing under the salad." Absolutely love your vlog with your great insights and humor!
Your description of the BA hand held device was hilarious. I really don't like the CW seats but the A380 upper deck window is much better with the bin storage. The yin-yang arrangement is not good except for couples/friends/family. At T5, the T5B lounge is my favourite out of the business class lounges. Very entertaining video.
We do enjoy the setalitte lounges much quieter and certainly much cleaner. We complained to BA about the lounge at T5 it was a disgrace. BA is way behind other major competitors. A major lack of underfunding and a couldn't care less approach by senior management. Its such a shambles that they should resign en mass and bring in a NEW winning team. Rant over a very well presented vlog.

Hard to beat the Virgin Atlantic Lounge. Those seats are a big no for my hubby and me. We did get some wonderful chuckles from this review. Thinking there may have been some adult beverages involved. Loved the button for no children 🤣. Looks like you are enjoying another great trip. (Or already enjoyed). Thanks for the amusing review.
@@visitwithus you two always look like you really enjoy each other’s company. Very refreshing. Thanks for sharing your experiences. We decided to try SB after one of your ship tours. Very excited.
I quite enjoyed that, but if I had been sitting near you, I think the commentary would have done my head in 😂 If booking early, single people can book a window seat at the end that has direct aisle access and is absolutely the pick of the seats. Without that I am very reluctant to pay good money to fly this dated product.
Haha! I promise you probably wouldn't have heard me. The sound has been heavily processed to remove the background jet noise, which would've masked anything I said. 😂
When I last flew with this business class on a BA777 the staff gave me a menu to fold up and hold the screen out. For without the card, like your it would not stay out and usable.
@@visitwithus I almost always go First with BA as I have hated their CW shit show for the last 15 years. The use of Avios to upgrade is the best spend you will ever make. The Concorde Room alone is worth the upgrade along with the privacy. I always go for several walks on the plane, and the biggest laugh ever, is walking through the CW cabin with folks on aisle seats sleeping with their great big fat arses sticking out into the aisle with their deep hairy cracks on full show by torchlight, and as you pass they give out a gargantuan fart, loud enough to drown out the roar of several RR engines and blow the froth of a cappuccino being consumed 5 rows away. The Layout is also a pervs charter to have a crafty little 'rub' on their neighbour's legs if they have to climb over them en nuit. A M8 of mine met his wife that way - well she's not actually his wife but he successfully rubbed up against her mid-flight in a pair of jog pants so she's as good as. Thank God for Avios...and First Class.
It was booked for us by our TA- I guess it was cheapest? flew it all the way from Montana, US to Tel Aviv and back- thank goodness we had American for our domestic leg. 6 flights in total, 4 in the BA business class. Awful awful. Love the extra touch of having to pay extra to pick your seat- sorry, that’s a cut rate economy class feature. In the end we paid more than a better airline’s business class, just to sit by each other away from the toilet!
I flew on B.A on a 747-400 back in 1987, from LHR to LAX in business class upstairs., nothing special to write home about. You got what you paid for and nothing more!✈ If i flew on a A380 it wouldn't be on B.A, but Emirates would be my choice!.
BA's A380 Business Class is SHABBY and awkward AF. There are a few 'choice' seat locations that give you more privacy without having to climb over your neighbor when you need to get up, but overall...it's a hard pass. Their 777's have been upgraded to suites , so that's a different story. Also, their food choices suck ass. It's very curry-centric. I love Indian food, but most people don't want Lamb Vindaloo on a 10 or 11 hour flight. Whoever is in charge of their menu is CLUELESS. That said, their crew members are usually super super nice.
You can imagine my disappointment that they’ve already changed the equipment for my flight back from SIN next April from a 777-300 to the dreaded a380 ying yang 🙁
@@edwardsalmon5658 See, that’s the annoying thing about airlines. You book expecting a particular aircraft and (in my case) get all hyped for it only for them to change it for an old banger. 😕
To old.....No it's BA, the suites are decent, the New New CW you are in is, well it sucks, the big issue is, on the 3 CW flights I took they ran out of food options by the 3rd row of CW, so we were stuck with the veggie option, fried rice, not fried rice with something, just fried rice. Funnily, we just did JFK-IST on Turkish, in business, they somehow managed to put out a worse meal than BA, the saving grace was ITA, FCO-JFK, my new favorite airline in the world, even better than SQ.
Give me Emirates or Etihad any day. That BA business class is not so pretty nor functional, however you did fly an Airbus A-380 !! Yup 8 years in cabin decor does show it's age and it does not age well it seems.
Yes the fact it was an A380 made up a little for the age, but it’s a shame when you book a flight that you can’t choose the aircraft! Still yet to try an Airbus a350-1000.
