Your experienced and consistently well produced travel reports might not (yet) be flavoured by the algorithm - but for those of us who have found them anyway they are truly exceptional. There's nothing quite like it on UA-cam. Your narrating voice alone is worth watching.
Yes, that flippin algorithm that only seems to favour popularism lol! We may get our day in the sun at some point. Thank you SO MUCH for your truly kind words - they are a REAL encouragement! :D
I'm absolutely desperate to try one of these Hurtigruten trips - they look absolutely incredible. The fact you can 'tick off' so many places on one of their cruises is astounding!
After watching this, I've booked this trip via Panache for my husband's 60th next year - it's a bucket list destination and your description of the food on board sealed the deal! Thanks for another great video - can't wait for the vlog :)
Wow, this is amazing Ann. We hope you have a wonderful time. It was honestly one of, if not THE, best cruise we’ve taken this year. Hopefully the vlogs will be out soon so you can get even more excited about your cruise. Thanks again, we really appreciate the trust you have put in us ❤️
I was fortunate to take this trip in September. I was slightly apprehensive that after over 32 cruises I might be spending a lot of money for a tarted up ferry. I was wrong. The Svalbard trip was the best cruise I have ever experienced, and I am saving to go again. The ship is sturdy, the accommodations perfect for me (window, but not a suite), the food was superb, the staff exceptional, the shop was the best at sea, and the scenery and stops spectacular. Thank you for making this video where I saw several familiar crew faces. I can’t wait to go again!
Many thanks again for a surprising report on this trip. The experience appears first class and much better than I would have imagined. Now you have given us another special trip to add to the growing list…….
We can’t wait to show you the vlogs from this two week cruise. It was the highlight cruise of 2024 for us, such a gorgeous itinerary ❤️ Thanks for watching.
I remember asking you all about cruising with Hurtigruten a bit ago during one of your live events. I was thrilled when you mentioned sailing with the line. I trust your reviews a great deal. Thanks for this!
We took this exact cruise in July, 2024. It was fabulous! Great video that let us re-live this fabulous journey on the MS Trollfjord! Will be following for future videos.
Thank you for watching and for your kind words. There will be two further videos, hopefully released before Christmas, which will focus on the destinations - one the northbound voyage from Bergen to Svalbard and the other the southbound voyage. Hope you enjoy them 👍
The Fjords is a dream of mine. And as ships become more emissions free, I’m sure it’ll be more possible, especially on smaller ships. Though there is something about QM2 and the fjords that just seem like a match made. Alas. The Trollfjord’s retro appearance is so swish! The cantilevered bay windowed grand suites is giving Norwegian Majesty. Like. They need to bring those kinds of staterooms back! From 2002, but I love the late ‘80s look. You’d never know the way they’ve swished up the interiors, though. And, oh, that two deck high observation lounge!! This ship insists on generous views of the outside. Something some of the modern ships are just lacking. And they’re huge! You guys need to visit the Queen Mary one day! She ain’t what she used to be..fer now, but I always love the take of a classic British ocean liner from authentic, swish British adventurers. The SS Rotterdam, too, for that matter. She needs a visit from yens guys as well. Rich really should be the next Bond, now that I think about it.
If you *do* want to give tarted up northern ferries a go, there's Color Line's Kiel-Oslo line, Fjord Line's Bergen-Stavanger-Hirtshals-Kristiansand, DFDS' Oslo-Copenhagen, as well as Stena Line and Silja Line's myriad of ferries around Sweden and Finland. They're pretty solid.
Thanks for watching. We've done several Norway cruises and this one, if you're interested in the REAL Norway, is definitely WAY more immersive than any other. :)
@@rickinnes Thank you so much. We weren’t exaggerating when we gave Røst such high praise. Honestly the most amazing restaurant at sea for both food, service, wine and ambience. Utterly stunning!
Hi Helen and Rich. Hmm, inquiring minds want to know, Trollfjord in Antarctica cruising the Lemaire Channel, a Yay or a Nay ??? I think she might do quite well in that environment too. And probably much cheaper than the cruise you paid for to get there on your trip down to the White Continent.
Good question Jeremy. The good thing about Hurtigruten's fleet is that they are all built with the sometimes extremely nasty Norwegian Sea in mind, which in itself can be one of the roughest seas in the world. Therefore I guess they would handle the Drake Passage with relative ease. I think you'll find Hurtigruten's sister company HX would run those itineraries with their purpose built expedition ships. :)
@@visitwithus Trollfjord has that wonderful observation lounge up front with access to the upper outdoor deck, and I thought, she would probably do well down there. I know the HX purpose built ships they have. I've been following the news on several reporting sites.
A regional cruise brand, with regional food and chefs, with regional produce… YES!! After all, that is why we travel, for new experiences and flavours and stories.
Couldn't agree more! This is the 'adventurers' Norway cruise. A deep dive into everything Norwegian. No better way doing it! Thanks for watching. We hope you subscribe for the next chapter. :)
We went in June and the weather was fabulous as you will see in the upcoming vlogs. We obviously had the midnight sun but would love to do it again to catch the northern lights. A lot of the crew said that late Feb/early March is nice as the days start to draw out and you can still see the northern lights 👍
Yes, it can be in the pricey side but it’s a much smaller ship offering a more ‘in depth’ itinerary to Norway than we would say any other cruise line would offer. We really don’t think there are many lines that would offer this style of itinerary so if you really wanted to discover more of Norway this is the line to do it with. Though we did it in a signature suite which admittedly is very costly, they do have cheaper cabins which though small were very comfortable. However, we understand it is quite a ‘niche’ product and cruise which not everyone will want to do (especially if they just want to ‘get a feel’ for a country but it really was a unique and wonderful two weeks. Thanks for watching.
Haha, thank you. The fabulous coastal team gave us a quick language lesson every day at the daily briefing but we must admit we didn’t pick it up very easily (as you can tell 😂) Thanks for watching.
Hurtigruten were established (and still are to a certain extent) as foot and cargo carriers often going to places unreachable by road and played a vital role in the day to day life of many Norwegians. This is no ordinary cruise ship and if you watch the video all the way through you will see it transporting vital cargo as well as passengers!

But the scenery is so beautiful as one gets into the Arctic Circle too. Norway has so much more than just the Fjords in the south. Good wishes.
The ship looks fantastic and I love the surprise lunches and dinners in Rost, what a very cool idea.
Though it might not suit everyone we absolutely loved it 😋
