I flew Qatar Airways A380 First Class and ended up paying less than people paid for economy on the same plane! Here's how.

£1100 for that seat to Australia is absolutely incredible value for money. I would pay that in a heartbeat
Me too I payed 3000 for delta one from Slc to cdg
if you can bribe your way into an airport just imagine how „secure“ this airport and things like luggage screening etc. actually is. That is very concerning
As they say, "money talks".
Jerry
classic cairo, from an egyptian thats what they do to foreigners, oh well, corrupt pretty much everything 🤷♂
Makes you wonder if bribes were common in ancient society?
It’s actually insanely secure, lol never moan about UK security again.
100% the 1 hour before security was BS and he was absolutely allowed to walk in. These guys were just being assholes.
They should have a machine out front. You put in a US $20 bill and it gives you 10 bribe tokens to get you through the airport!
Your an ideas person😂-- but seriously it's a bit scary who they might be letting in for the right price
Are Egyptian really such a weasal that bribes money to even use a toilet lmaoo
thats only in egypt
It would just spit out another $20
I just cannot comprehend paying $18,000 for a ticket to Sydney. I realize it’s first class, but even then. That just seems ridiculous to me.
Either somebody else is paying (like a company) OR she has more money than sense ! 🤣🤣
@@keithhardy8513 If you are suggesting that first class passengers have less sense than the common flyer crammed in the back, you are sorely mistaken or just plain envious.
@@alexthai4957nah, it's obvious the richer you are, the less sense you have
@@Unknown1684 Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Nothing wrong with choosing not to pay the high price. Very different from people attacking those of us who chose to pay the price. It's a sad self esteem issue. My admiration for those up front, while I sat in back, inspired me to change my limiting beliefs so I never have to fly in coach again! P.S. Fare is actually cheap if you compare to flying private with NetJets.
I just can't comprehend just "paying" the security personnel just to enter the airport in cairo....that's also ridiculous but again...bribing your way in....
Noel breaking industry practice once again! First using black light on flight loos and now taking showers in first class lounges wearing his glasses!
He must have a pretty hefty prescription to need to wear glasses in the shower!
“Thought” I was the only one who thought so lol
... Lol I thought I was the only one 😂
"thank you....thank you". - Noel philips
Glasses or not, I'm just happy he stopped panning the camera down when he did.
“I don’t know what the difference is between this $300 wine and wine you get from a box” 😂😂😂
Then he mixes it with coke 😂😂
A crime against wine was committed here! 🚨🚨
If that’s how you like it - go for it !
You can take the lad out of the Midlands, but you can't take the Midlands out of the lad. Never change, Noel, and I don't think you will 😀
If your national dish is beans on toast and national drink is Tea instead of coffee...what do you expect 😉...its not his fault. But at least it makes great funny videos. Keep up the great work Noel.
what a legend
I have worn glasses but not in a long time since I got my eyes fixed. But if memory serves, you typically do not wear them in the shower. 😂
My husband wears glasses in the shower. He has to others is he can’t see!
Nor do you put the same clothes on after a shower.
I was about to say the same thing!
They're waterproof.
I wear my glasses when I swim. Can't see without them. I just bought a pair of prescription goggles for my swims. Just wore them the first time yesterday when I started training for a triathlon.
Showering in glasses is the ultimate iconic moment since I started watching you Noel! Never taking mine off now thank you! 👍🏻😂
If I take mine off I can't see my feet.Lol
Hi Noel,
Just wanted to say thank you. I am a very nervous flyer and I have got off a few planes in the past (or even refused to get on them) before we took off. I have been binge watching your videos back to back and it has really helped me to calm my nerves. I just got back from Cancun and despite the flight being 10hrs I was completely relaxed and (dare I say) I actually enjoyed the flight and looking out of the window. Thank you.
P.S.: Plane was 787-9 Dreamliner, Airline was TUI. The flight was in their premium cabin
Thank you, so glad you are able to enjoy flying again!
Well done. I also had to overcome my fear, not easy but a great achievement
That's fantastic!! I used to have terrible flight anxiety but after watching endless flight reviews and actually air crash investigation videos it's helped me no end. The dreamliner also was my very first non-anxiety flight 11hrs 😍
@Noel Philips
Loved this video so much!! What’s the website you used to find these flights? Know you talked bout it before but can’t find the name of it now.
Noel’s videos are also helping me with my fear of flying (in addition to being very entertaining). I’m glad to see they are helping you.
29:45. I always book flights from Budapest, Oslo, Cairo, Bangkok, Jakarta, Manilla. The key is to choose a city with a large pool of flyers who don't fly business.
It is not a "misdemeanor." Misnomer is the word you want 🤣
If you watch his videos, you will see that he deliberately uses the wrong words.
He takes naming things seriously, people should be punished if they call it that lmao
Airport security taking bribes, very worrying. I wonder what they would not see if the price was right?
exactly right
Right lmao bought for a few dollars 🥴
It's Africa, you could carry-on an ICBM for a $100 handshake.
Bribes are normal in Africa and Middle East
It IS worrying! And there's some people here saying that it's no different than tips in America, lol. Like - one's a bribe and one's a completely voluntary tip - there's a difference.
OMG!! I experienced the same locked door (at 0:50), at the Cairo airport during my trip this Feb. I had to then go back to the terminal-1 and then out on to the streets and push the cart all the way to Terminal-2.
This was one of the most unorganized international airports.
When I landed from Luxor, there was a sign that said all international flights, so I went in there and sat there for an hour before realizing that I was in the wrong terminal for my flight. No proper signs and none of the security guys speak english. 😕😕
It cannot possibly worse than MNL
During a flight in economy from Orlando to London, a child behind me screamed and cried the entire flight. Since that day I have flown business and 1st class. I don’t have as many holidays as I used to, it’s life choices I guess…… Each to their own 😊
Your videos are some of the only UA-cam videos left that I can watch the full length without getting bored. Good job.
Glad you like them!
Man, that was a great tip! I had budgeted for a trip to Japan later this year, but by going via DUB first, for the same price I was prepared to pay for a direct flight from LHR I can get tickets in business. Definitely going to be worth it for a 13 hour flight!
Have fun!
@@noelphilips so i looked up flights from cairo to sao paulo, which was half the price of london to sao paulo. the cairo flight transfers in london. the question is: do you have to fly to cairo first or can you just join on the connecting flight from london?
@@HanyouGoddess Thats a great question and i would also love to know the answer
@@HanyouGoddessyou’d have to fly in separately and I suggest having a one night stay first (like Noel did) as if you don’t any delays will make you miss your flights and you won’t be covered for new tickets you’d have to pay out of pocket
@@conormcdonagh3973I’m sure they were correct, prices from Dublin are often a lot lower than the UK as Air Passenger Duty isn’t payable from flights originating outside the UK
I was fkying alone for the first time and i had a layover flight in Hamad airport
I walked around everywhere and ive got a mini map of that airport in my head
32:38 lemon, high end way to present it - some fish restaurants in London do it too like Chamberlains in Leadenhall Market .. so no pips can escape the lemon too! You squeeze the lemon, don't unwrap it.
Hey Noel
Caviar is best with blinis (that was the small round one) and a little creme fraiche. The lemon in the bag (more a net than a bag) is there so you can squeeze it to drizzle some lemon juice, for example on the salmon :)
I wonder if the APU was out of order? If it wasn't it seems inexcusable that they can leave the passengers and crew to endure that heat!
INOP APU and no ground cooling unit to connect up at their world-class airport? Goes to show it's the details that matter.
I doubt that an APU can power an A380's AC packs.
It would need a proper ground power supply.
Slack operation
@@jonathankleinow2073Given the enormous size of the A380 and how it takes time to cool the entire cabin, it wouldn’t be surprising to assume that the ground cooling unit was already connected, but had little to no effect as the backup aircraft was only activated on such short notice.
Your First Class "cabin" definitely needs some sort of door covering, even if only a curtain.
$18,000 and no privacy in the first class cabin 😮
I looked for a round trip from Munich to Sydney first and then from Cairo and the difference is astounding. Even with a sort of ferry flight from Munich to Cairo, it's almost 50% cheaper. I'll keep that in mind when I next visit my cousin down under.
you really deserved this experience after watching some of your low cost flight videos. i cant believe what you paid for this flight that's a steal! I'm glad you didn't cook in the heat and the private loo review was awesome. Great video Noel, and as usual i can't wait until next Sunday.
Thank you so much!
You do make me laugh Noel - 'smashed down into Sydney' , cracks me up everytime 😂
Cool to see the Qatar A380 first class cabin, thanks
Thanks! 😃
By the way, the lemon is in the bag to trap the seeds and pulp. 😂 The soft flatbread for the caviar is a blini.
Didn't look like the lemon ever got squeezed on to the caviar. Still, it was a work of art. No ketchup available?
I remember flying to Qatar on their 747 in 1997. We landed at the old airport which was of course VERY different. The Qatar I worked in back then is unrecognisable . Another great video Noel 😊

How come every time I look up 1st class flights its ridiculously expensive?!
Cheapest I can find, for a one way first class fare from CAI-DOH-SYD, is around 88000 Egyptian Pounds or £2000ish.
Even £2,000 is a steal for first or business
Great review Noel! I must say i liked how you were so excited to have a large loo all to yourself! You always add a lot of fun to your reviews and it's a pleasure watching! Take care and safe travels!
Thank you for your kind words.
Glad I'm not the only one who loves the A380! :D
Sadly due to being a vulnerable adult on SSI, I can't really fly on my own and no one I know is willing to fly with me, but the A380 is on my bucket list to fly on someday, even though it's unrealistic, so I live vicariously thru you everytime you go on one lol. Now do the Qantas A380! :D
I’ll fly with you 😊
I want to fly the A380 also, where you wanna go!?
For 18k I would expect personal attention from Akbar Al Baker.
Thank you for the Qatar flight video. I usually fly Emirates when I'm in that part of the world, but always wanted to fly Qatar airlines just for the simple fact. I love their livery. You made my decision a lot easier. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I flew with Qatar Airways in 2008 from London Heathrow to Columbo Sri Lanka via Doha. Both flights were on Boeing 777s. Really lovely flights even in economy. That was back before the current Doha airport was built
That ground experience seems awful. Needing to bribe folks, yikes.
way of the world for countries non-first world countries
When I lived in Africa, I had to pay a lot more than $4 for a boarding pass even though I had a reservation.
The price you pay for $1500 first class
Your funny 😂😂😂
Baksheesh is how things work in much of North Africa and the Middle East. A small "gift" to grease the wheels. My father was a travel agent, and he always advised people traveling in the region to keep a roll of 5 and 10-dollar bills at hand when dealing with officials and security. He even taught them how to fold the baksheesh into their passports.
Love the new 4k camera. So much clearer. Excellent.
Yet another great video Noel
Love how your attitude never changes no matter who you deal with. No snobbishness..good lad 😊
Thanks 👍
I did Qatar with my wife in the Q-suit from Atlanta to DOHA. on the A380. That was a 14 hour flight. Then another 5 hour flight to the Maldives in the Q-suit. We loved it.
The small, circular item in your bread basket was a blini. They are the traditional "bread" to put caviar on.
Love your channel, been watching for while. You never throw your good fortune in viewers faces, remain humble, grateful with Yorkshire humor intact, thank you. From Sheffield UK
Thank you!
Noel, you are the first person I ever heard of leaving the specs on in the shower 🤣
Maybe he did it to get more comments here
Hi Noel, The lemon in a bag was so you can squeeze it without getting seeds. The whole experience was top notch save the very beginning. I want to take this trip. I've flown around the world many times and always enjoyed flying business and first but hated flying economy. It's so uncomfortable these days. One of the nicest flights I had was on SAS which has kind of a bad rap but their business was lovely! Thanks for all you do - I want your job!!!!👍👍👍
I'm glad you're reaping the rewards of your hard work with your content, especially the fact you've moved to Texas with your family to live the life you'd dreamed of. Well done mate.
I appreciate that!
You are a gift to humanity, Noel 😆❤️
Those loos are the same ones that Emirates use as the shower suites on board their A380’s. The layout of the aircraft means the loos at the front of the upper deck are huge. Even BA has extra large loos at the front of their A380 upper deck!
My experience of Cairo was that my passport was checked no less than 7 times before reaching the aircraft and my bag was scanned and searched repeatedly. One guy placed my bag on a scanner belt and then decided that I should pay him money for the service 😂.
I love your sense of humor and how you take everything with a grain of salt. It is what it is and you roll with it. Thenks and keep it up!
Thanks so much!
The Qatar boarding and exiting music is EPIC! I always look forward to it and it always sticks with me
The business class on the 787-9, even though looks much like Qsuites, is not called Qsuites by Qatar Airways because it's a bit smaller than the ones in the A350 and 777.
The 787 Qatar Airways Business Class I flew did not have privacy walls around the seating. So, not a “suite” regardless of roominess.
@@mysticknight9711 That's the old business class in the 787-8. Their 787-9s have the suites with doors. Qatar Airways has so many different business class cabins that you never know what you're going to get.
I’m on an A380 in a few weeks and also upstairs.
But I’m in cattle class, but still excited to get on one of these monsters.
Been on a few Jumbo jets in my time and keen to see how big these 380’s are.
Egypt is a place I enjoyed travelling around but the bung’s you have to splash is crazy.
North Africa is rife for it.
How was it?
lovely video noel i love watching all the flight episodes keeps me going when im bored- keep it up!
Thanks, will do!
3:00 love that airport sound I also hear that same sound at my airport
Hi Noel I had a similar experience last year when I flew business class on a return ticket thatcwas way cheaper than regular ecconomy class priced ticket from Manchester to Clark via Doha.
In that case I flew at mid day and arrived at doha the next morning at midnight their time after an 8hrs flight.
I really recommend Qatar Airways as they are a really good airline to fly with.
"Don't book flights from London" Couldn't agree more. Based on this, I was looking at an Air Canada flight from London first class in October this year, approx. £1700, booking the same flight but coming via a connecting flight from Dublin, almost half price at approx. £900. Same flight, same class, but adding a flight on from Dublin made it almost half price. I'd have had to make a connecting flight from Glasgow so to go via Dublin is very much worth the additional faff. Absolutely bizarre pricing!
Can we all appreciate Noel’s ‘yas queen’ 20:53 great video!
Excellent post - I've watched several of these over the past few weeks but today you sold me with some excellent advice. Subscribed.
Awesome, thank you!
Great video again! Happy Fathers Day btw! Hey-another airline vlogger I just watched was given a terrible time trying to board Biman Air at Dakkar,or something. The Bangladesh airline accused him of being a liar or a spy and denied him boarding, despite having all the proper documents and everything .They were screaming at him and threatening. It was frightening. He filmed it thank heavens. He was reimbursed for his ticket and apologized to, by the main office. But a little too late. That was so scary. It happened to Rory. You should watch his video . I'm so glad you made it through ok❤
I flew Qatar business once from Sofia to Casablanca on a really good airfare deal. Sure it was the longer way around but the other airlines (via Europe) were charging more for economy, than Qatar was charging for business, so it was a no brainer. Plus it was overnight so i got to sleep as well.
You really put the joy in travelling. Next time I go somewhere I'm going to try to channel your upbeat attitude. That was positively luxurious! The loo was the size of mine here at home.
The lemon in a bag is for the pips/seeds dont fall onto your food when you squeeze it.
I appreciate Noel's willingness to experience travel from multiple perspectives including different classes of travel, and I also love the great travel tips. Why pay more if you don't have to? Separately, did he go into the shower with his glasses on? I suppose that's one way to clean them.
It absolutely amazes me how air travel and seat configurations have changed so much since the 1980's onwards. These 1st class areas are like 5 star hotels on wings, I'd never have foreseen this back in the day. However I'd give anything to fly on a VC-10 / TU-154 / IL-62 / DC-8 now !!🙂
I flew three times on a 707, and once on a DC-8. The 707 was fine, not very different from flying on a modern 737 (the fuselage cross-section and the nose are exactly the same, actually), except that it was long-haul and had more primitive but more comfortable seats with more legroom. I hated the DC-8 because of the aircon. Too dry, my nostrils hurt.
I have been lucky to fly on both VC 10, Super VC10 and the TU 154….the latter being a nightmare, awful cabin pressure, smell of fuel and a cockpit like a steam engine…..the VC 10…..best of British, very fast plane, even the seats face backwards…very odd….great times back then flying…
How about Caravelle and Mercure-Dassault (Orly Ouest to Toulouse prior to A300), DC9 and DC10, as a kid even the Superconstellation
Wow, someone said something nice about Jetstar!
It makes you appreciate flying on other airlines.
@9:50...... Oil is a hell of a drug! Cheers Australia Noel. Love your uploads.
Great video Noel.👍 I flew SQ many years ago on an A380 SIN-FRA and they had big problems with a/c system to the aircraft, before pushback and the first 30 minutes of the flight it was well over +40c onboard, we had 2 medical emergencies before pushback, I thought I was going to be one of them, hellish it was!!! 😳 Like the nice big bog onboard good for putting your PJs on.🤠 Plus come you gotta like caviar its class, I will swap you some fish n chips for some fish eggs anyday. 🤣
Completely agree with being flexible on where you travel to save money. I'm not beyond switching terminals, switching airports, switching carriers, etc., if it means saving some money. I am currently booked for a direct flight IAD - CPH. I could have saved money connecting through CPH to HAM, but the train back to CPH was more than the savings. I'm always looking for those kinds of deals when I'm booking. My favorite trick is flying between major hubs, but connecting through a very small airport that both hubs serve on separate airlines. Back in 1998, I saved 100 USD flying DFW - ORD but with a stop in Des Moines.
That is your biggest flex? A 100 dollar saving back in ‘98? Dude you need to get out there a bit more man.
@@zacherius137 Never said it was my biggest flex. Just said it was something I did.
Nice to see Noel, especially as I’m flying Qatar next week, up front too on the A380. Although not quite in the first two rows, I will however be visiting the on board bar so it was nice of you to show that, thank you
Have fun!
Never thought of taking a shower with my glasses on. Saves cleaning them later. Quite efficient.
what a coincidence! I just flew with Qatar Airways myself. very nice and international staff and good food! very happy with my flight
You were lucky they had a spare plane. We got on a Qatar Airways A380 in Sydney about 5 years ago. It was broken too. They tinkered with it for about 3 hours, then offloaded us all and sent us home. They eventually found me a seat two days later, which totally disrupted our travel plans. No compensation of any sort, of course.
That video is just minted Noel. Class, keep doing what you’re doing
Much appreciated!
Welcome back to 🇦🇺
Always happy to have you in our country ❤️
Thanks for explaining how you get cheaper tickets for your flights ✈️
Looked like an awesome flight, except the boarding, but glad you got here in one piece. Hugs from Adelaide mate 🤗
Thank you! 😃
$4 is worth 123.44 Egyptian pound. To the briber What an adventure!!
Thank you for sharing!
Fantastic content as always.
Yeah, that's a major welcome to Cairo. I was there not too long ago, and I recall our tour representative doing the same thing. But thanks for taking the aircraft breakdown in stride. I used to hate it when people got angry about that stuff. It's not the crews fault, and we are essentially suffering with you. I don't know how Qatar's pay structure works, but in the US, when similar happens, we aren't getting paid to deal with it. In fact we could be losing pay. But also too, while you were baking up stairs, I have to wonder how the people in steerage, I mean coach were doing with probably 300+ people down there. I also have to wonder why they didn't turn the packs on. The APU could easily cool the aircraft down.
Noel Have you tried cathay a350 business class I heard it was awesome
Just a couple of days until the airliners convention Noel! I’m stoked haha, it’s been since Orlando 2009 since I’ve been to one
Very random “yaaaas Queen” 20:54 love it🤣🤣🤣
Showering with glasses on? I have never tried that.... 😂
Next week myself, wife, 2 kids & 6 other extended family members are traveling to LAX from Heathrow in Club Suites & we’re starting our trip in Dublin rather than from Glasgow. For the sake of a cheap one way Ryanair flight over to Dublin it’s saving us thousands of pounds, pretty much a third of the price of starting our BA journey in Glasgow 🤷♂️ it’s a no brainer.
Another great video & totally agree with you regarding an a380’s windows 😉
What site do you use to get these lower prices from?
@@MsPossums i also would like to know, also from glasgow as well haha :p
@@MsPossums No website, booked it old school over the phone with BA directly.
@@mechagirlfriend Booked it over the phone with BA last August, if I recall it would’ve been around 3k each starting from Glasgow but from Dublin it was £1298 return 😃 economy from Glasgow was about £900. Also we’ll all get our full avios & tier points allocation, we never used any of our existing avios & with my brother being a gold card holder he managed to get everyone free seat allocation which can be stupidly expensive on BA. Definitely worthwhile looking into 😉
Love it! Keep up the great videos, want to meet you Noel one day!!
I love the raw honesty on your videos Noel. The way you swigged the red wine taste and loading the caviar onto the crackers.. Just lovely.
And I cannot believe the cost of the flight. That was staggeringly cheap.
Glad you enjoyed it
😂😂😂. Loved this review. Noel we love your reviews because you are and act just like you are in real life. The shower scene with your glasses on and then mixing $300 wine with a glass of coke! 😂😂😂 anyway happy you are back on an A380 and that the flight was great. Loved Qatar airlines. They are very good if not the best out there. Was very puzzled to see that the plane didn’t turn their auxiliary unit on to get the AC going during the long delay…?!? Maybe it wasn’t operating thus the only way was to get engines going in order to cool the Beast…. Safe travels and look forward to the next episode. Cheers
Thank you for your kind words, glad you enjoyed it!
The lemon in a bag is provided so you can squeeze fresh lemon on your fish without squishing out seeds.
And, I'm no wine connoisseur, but I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to mix a $300 wine with coke!
Heathen!! 😅
Thanks for these amazing videos Noel 😁
Thank you! Glad you like them!
Great video. The red wine you were drinking sells for over £200 a bottle in the UK.
Was the AC already blasting while the plane was waiting for takeoff? If not, I can't even imagine what it felt like. Felt sorry for that crew member who fainted.
I laughed real hard at 31:48. But Qatar airways maintains its class as always and its amazing to see how cheap you got this ticket. $18,000 is ridiculous
What a treat, Noel!
Loved the Noel Philips wine review!
I understand how travelling from Egypt to Sydney would be significantly cheaper than flying from Paris to Sydney Via Doha but what about travel from Paris to Cairo? Or from somewhere else in Europe to get to Cairo.. Is it still comparable if you add that first leg to get to Cairo? Curious how this works because I’ve always just chosen the most direct and convenient route and always pay a stupidly high price
It's insane! It was cheaper for me to fly to New York from LHR via Amsterdam or Frankfurt than to fly direct, and I had time for a boat tour of Amsterdam canals. A real tourist bargain!!!
Great video Noel. I went to several flight comparison sites to try this trick as you suggested. I selected Eygpt to Sydney on various dates in the year for 1st class but all the prices were from £11000 to £18000!!
I start with Google Flights & am constantly checking as the good deals can pop up anytime.
You must be doing it wrong. On Google flights, most dates over the next year for this route are sub-$3,000
@@TomJamesOfficial really? For 1st class? How can i be doing it wrong, its entering two airports, dates and first class.
@@laskorsyeah, that’s exactly what I did. Unsure why your results would be so different
You mentioned the window design. I think the panes are so far apart to prevent noise ingress. That's why the A380 is so quiet.
Dear god, after that choice start I'm glad things picked up massively Noel! Thanks for the spin!
Loved the upper deck 380 - only gripe, surprised they have missed off the longer privacy screens, as you mentioned..odd mistake imo as otherwise it is wonderful! Would love to do this entire trip for those prices...wow!!! Definitely going to look at this for long hauls.
