- This play when you are challenging The Blueberry Academy (BBA) Elite Four from the Unova Region in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet: The Indigo Disk.

Main goal of these video concept ideas:
My main goal for these kind of videos is to be as creative as possible!
Let me explain:
- Firstly, my very first channel Mixeli (But also my latest one Volipok) post tons of Gameplays from Every Generation (Which once again was played and recorded by myself in it's entirety. It took me many years of works.)
My video have Educational Value and let me explain why: It does provide help to the user who watch the video. One of the few example for that is which musics is played from my gameplays. It could easily be found on video cards (The exclamation mark "!" you see on the video above at the right) and vice versa. (This mean that on this video for example, you could also find my actual battle gameplays of where this music is played)
- Secondly, My video are transformative enough, I took the time to play the game and recording the musics. I took the time to improve it's original quality using Vegas Pro. Thanks to a program called "Track EQ" that you can find on Vegas Pro.
This program allow the user to enhance it's original quality and further improving it. This need concentration as each version has different audio quality.
- Thirdly and as you have noticed: On each Generation, I use different background that I bought on a website called Shutterstock. (Which I have bought at least 336 pictures background, just so I can become as creative as possible and also work on a lot of different style using those background)
This kind of concept was created by myself since 2011. Today it has become one of the main concept of my channel that I personally created.
- Lastly is to bring the community together. I have noticed that so many people are commenting and giving their opinions on the video, sharing their experience about characters from the game, confirming theory, saying funny stuff and I find this extremely amazing and interesting! I don't want their comment to be unnoticed so I have plan for the future of my content about commenting and sharing their experience on videos that I will produce one day!

Fire, Steel, Fairy, and Dragon are widely regarded as some of the most powerful types, these kids definitely did their homework
Of course, Lacey decided to throw in a surprise Ground Type on her team too, lol.

The elite 4 is like the most anime elite boss thing ever.

-The diligent and smart one
-The girl with cute face but secretly a sadist.
-The prodigy kid.
Those are the trope of anime final boss with school theme.
And then Keiran, a champion, embodies the school bully trope. As he Pretty much become the school bully.
I wouldn't say Lacey is a sadist, the other ones work though.
I kinda think the Scarlet & Violet games should have an abridged series.
It has so much potential to be parodied than other Pokémon games.

Love Amarys finally dropping her guard and showing some personality in the selfie after you defeat her, they did a fantastic job with her character
Notice that she, the robotic person with a steel team, chose to do a heart symbol, reminiscent of the Tin Man from Wizard of Oz who wanted a heart
She had a robotic aesthetic to her but she isn't like a have no emotions person, she regularly shows emotions like clapping her hands, and saying whatever's on her mind, she just talks and presents herself really formally

Not only is their theme a total banger, but they’ve got personality and are a challenge to battle too. I love these 4 so much, Crispin is probably my favorite because of his enthusiastic attitude and his easygoing way of thinking
Crispin is my fav too, the blunt (and a little stupid) types are always my favorite. And I love the way he hides behind his pan after losing. Drayton is a close second.

Fun Factoid: Drayton is Drayden's grandson, which isn't that hard to guess based on their characters
but Lacey also has a gym leader relative, Clay! If it wasn't obvious from her excadrill and hairpin, she says as much in a conversation with Nemona. Add on Lian, their Hisuian ancestor, and it seems the Clay family gets bigger every generation

You can’t invite Nemona yet - I’m pretty sure you can after the update with the mythical Pokemon drops, and some people got their hands on that event early somehow

It was fun, but I still want something more challenging tbh. Make me sweat against a full lvl 95-100 competitive team.
Legit took me four tries to beat Crispin and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Call me a masochist, but slowly learning the ins and outs of a fight and refining my strategy to eventually come out on top is fun as heck

Was impressed Amarys took me out honestly I love how theese battles you cant just always rely on fast sweeping your opponent and i love it
I’ve been playing Pokémon for about 20 years now, and these four gave me a challenge I hadn’t experienced in a very long time. Starting with a fresh new team for this DLC, winning with my favorites didn’t come down to just pressing “A” over and over again. But I actually had to determine optimal items, abilities, moves, and even entry order. Even then, all of my battles with them came down to 1 or 2 Pokémon left on my side not fainted, and that made those victories all the more satisfying.
That they built their teams explicilty to counter weaknesses too and exploit strategies (stealth rock + whirlwind, I FEEL ya Amarys! and Lacey knowing Fairies only have poison and steel to worry about, so she ends with Excadrill who hard counters both types....only to Tera Fairy and expose it's weaknesses.... Hey there's a reason the lazy dragon trainer surpassed her but A for the idea!)

As someone who has played Pokemon for about 11 years now (crazy how time flies), these battles were some of the few fights in the series to actually get me to use healing items mid-battle. Normally I avoid doing that but after the hell Lacey put me through I didn't even try to beat Drayton without healing
While not a full looping chain, the BB League Elite 4 does have a weakness-related throughline to their typings.
Fire -> Steel -> Fairy -> Dragon
Notably, this is also the BB League ranking among the Elite 4 members, from lowest to highest.
In other words, an E4 who has a type advantage against another is always lower-rank than them, implying that they're able to consistently overcome the poor matchup as a sign of true strength.
ADDENDUM: Steel resists Dragon, and Fire resists Fairy, meaning that Crispin and Amarys actually have positive matchups against the *2* E4s ranked directly higher than them.
I noticed this too. Even though they can be fought in any order, it’s clear what the rankings are when reading their dialogue. Such a nice touch. Makes me wonder if other non-linear E4s have a similar dynamic to them that we just never get to hear about
The last time we ever have a pattern like that were the unova elite four
Steel + fairy + dragon is also quite a good core to have and is the mostly used core in VGC. Defensive wise it is way better than fire + water + grass
Little addendum here, it's funny that 3/4 of the BB E4 has an Ace that's Steel-type

@@edgargaebolg9307 Yeh, he has like ONE Grass type but it's still Fire themed because it's geared to exploit the sun that two of his mons can set up- one that he sends out immediately after one of the mons that can do that, the Talonflame.

Considering they all seem to be kids of gym leaders, I'd say they had all the tools to be tough

Easily the hardest.
No other elite 4 even come close in term of raw difficulty.
Double battle so set mode forced, pretty high level, use strategies and objects.
Before them people considered Cynthia the hardest but unless you're playing nuzlock and never grind she doesn't even come close.

They didn't use the og theme for these elite 4 because nobody else truly can be the og unova elite 4 other than themselves

I didn't expect them to use. Cause even though they are elite 4, but they are BBA Elite Four. Not the Unova League Elite four. So their theme is unique to them. A liitle nuance here and there would have been good, but its fine either way.

These battles and most of the dlc battles were brutal for a modern Pokémon game, I really like the challenge. Also this song goes hard and absolutely slaps

@@thelonemask It's the perfect setup too, just like Iono's Mismagius it actually had great synergy for an all-fairy team's ace, countering both Poison and Steel (and Fire for that matter)
It’s not completely confirmed in-game but it’s heavily implied and ppl online are pointing the clues to Clay being her dad/relative.

Never would I see the day where GF puts not only two Elite 4 groups in one game, but also make both groups very likeable AND have awesome music!

Those kids were incredibly strong. I legit trained a competitive team and struggled.
No legit tho, Lacey’s Slowbro almost whooped my team silly….
Basically I pulled all the stops and brought my lv 100 Pokemons down on them.
And Drayton still managed to get me on the ropes in part because I forgot to bring enough Ice/Fairy moves against him.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned that 0:44 is clearly a revamped version of the beta elite 4 theme for sun/moon. It was shown off at Japan Expo in 2016. Glad to see it got reused in some capacity! (for another e4 ironically). Honestly gave me nostalgia of when that got first shown off all those years back, time sure does fly. I also like how some alola pokemon were used in the dlc, i see you GF

This elite four really knocked it out of the park with this one. Drayton is easily my favorite. Given their ties to Unova, I'd love to see them again if they does anything more with Unova as a region, namely Lacey and Drayton, both of whom are confirmed to be relatives of Unovan gym leaders.
Yeah love how they kept playing him up as someone with a secret agenda who manipulates people when in the end he just wanted his friend back and it was Kieran he was trying to shut down cause his ego got too big, He didn't do anything evil or wicked at all. Though that could've just been Carmine worrying about her brother and Lacey is implied to be a case of "Beware the nice ones" given she's polite to your face but says really rude and hurtful things about you being a foreigner. even insisting that she doesn't like you being part of the club after you've fixed everything cause she just isn't comfortable with it. Though that's fairy type trainers for you.
@@MarioMastarAnd I didn’t understand what Lacey was trying to get at. Drayton and Carmine clearly knew Kieran became too strong for anyone at the academy to check him. Even Amarys, who clearly likes Kieran and was also against the player joining the BB League, had a change of heart after she lost to the player, as she also realized the player was their only chance of knocking some sense into Kieran.
Man it’s still insane to think that the Blueberry Elite Four is probably the most high-powered Elite Four in existence… they all use held items, Double Battles, and four of the most powerful types in existence.i have no doubt these kids would beat the shit out of 90% of the Elite Fours out there, the only one that could maybe keep up being the BDSP Sinnoh Rematches, which is insane.

@@lifelessons7401 Exactly that. After an easy game they suddenly throw up VGC worthy Pokemon. The difficulty spike was TOO extreme to be fun. At least the Indigo Disk warned you beforehand.
@@guguy00 I still enjoy BDSP's Elite Four though. After an absolutely insanely boring game, having something so engaging and challenging honestly saves the game (BDSP is still bad tho).

They're really great! They hit a home run with all of these. I would say one of the strongest sets of elite four designs.
I love the fact that the person who acts as ur guide around the academy for a little bit, Lacey, is also the 2nd strongest elite four member. Ur unknowingly being guided around the academy by this rlly kind and sweet girl who could probably steamroll ur team if u weren't prepared. (She's also Pokémon's very first Fairy type E4 member!)

Well, I lost to every elite 4 except Lacey. I obliterated her with Sludge Wave Choice spec tentacruel + a steel type pokemon.
She gave my new team trouble. Galvantula, Magmortor, Excadrill, Golurk, Lapras and Reuniclus.

Finally a CHALLENGING Elite Four and with a DOPE track!
Honwstly the last challenging Elite 4 before this was Unova's rematch Elite 4, all level 70's and full teams of 6. So glad they have items as well
All their rematches, even when all of my pokemon are at level 100 max IV’s and EV’s these guys still give me a hard time. I just love it.
I did not trust Drayton at first because how suspicious he looks but he turns out to be a chill dude. He's already my favorite out of the four.

@@alicestolze8327 He was probably the Champion before Kieran, obviously he took it personal when he lost to him for whatever reason. He wanted to knock him down a peg but couldn't get it done himself.
I think the implication was to make you think he was a Dark Type trainer as everything about his design and demeanor says "Dark type". But turns out he's just bummed because his friend went insane and he wants his old buddy back. This series is all about "Don't judge a book by it's cover." in the best possible way. Seemed to be the common theme between the S/V DLC stories.
Dude is just overall a slacker, a “Slifer Slacker” (that’s a YGO GX reference) who shines in battling
@@billx6545 He took it personally because Kieran made it personal people tends to forget Kieran became an asshole to everyone in the league club when he came back to school and from drayton and kierans dialog they weren't on good terms with each other either while Drayton was champion he didn't take it too seriously and just wanted to have fun Kieran on the other hand took it too seriously
While I think their theme could have a bit more oomph to it, this is by far and away my favorite Elite Four group in the franchise. I absolutely love their designs (Drayton & Amarys are my faves), their personalities, and how they're a bunch of friends as well as academic peers. They can't be steamrolled with just one type, actually use competitive items, are the first Elite Four to have trials, and were a flippin' challenge to fight. We also have our first ever Fairy Elite Four member! Gosh, I love them all.
I always wondered how Fairy was never used in the Elite Four, but I am glad we have Lacey to be the first ever
I was very happy to learn Lacey was a fairy specialist
And as someone with fairy type favoritism, I was also happy to see how much ground type move coverage her team had for their main weaknesses; her ace being an Excadrill like her father was a perfect matchup in that regard!
Well now the only types that haven't been used in a Elite Four is Normal, Electric, and Grass

my favorite thing about the BBA isn’t just the fact that they’re crazy strong, but they also employ common strategies that i’ve never seen before executed by NPCs

I knocked Alcremie out before it got a chance! I remembered how much of a badass it could be from SWSH.
As much as I like Penny, Nemona and arven, the dlc charakters have such nice designs and personalities. I really liked Carmine, Kieran, Drayton and espacially Lacey. Also Kieran was refreshing regarding the rivals we had the last years. A shame the dlcs were so short and we spent so little time with them. Oh and of course ir was nice, that is was challenging
Amarys may act like a robot but she has the mind of a super computer when it comes to battling

When I noticed she'd be Steel type specialist and that Metagross was returning, I had a strong feeling it'd be her ace.
The cool thing is that metagross can process things faster than a super computer so they make the perfect team

Basically, Pokémon's version of Sans.
In Unova, Elite Four can be battled in any order, but you can always create a chain of super-effective order from their types:
BW/2: Psychic > Fighting > Dark > Ghost
BBA: Fire > Steel > Fairy > Dragon
Here, this particular order is recommended by the game (you get a super-effective TM for the next challenge) but still not enforced.
Even better than this - there's a *suggested* order of progression, but they actually SCALE UP A BIT IN LEVEL when you progress from one to the next
Indigo Disk feels like "ok let's try everything we couldn't get to do in the main game on a smaller scale" and I love them for that. Exactly what the game as a whole needed, though it is definitely easier to do this with a more narrow difficulty curve + 4 trials to balance as opposed to 18. I'm glad to see it in any fashion
@@WishMakers Speaking of doing things they messed up in the main game… Geeta now sends her Glimmora first and Kingambit last. She even replaces Gogoat with Chesnaught and has a defensive type-changing Tera on her final mon.

The only thing missing would be to have her Espathra use the infamously broken Speed Boost + Stored Power moveset

Started sweating bullets the moment Lacey set up Light Screen and Tailwind with Whimsicott.
for me it was when alcremie kept using decorate on slowbro and i couldn’t put either of them to sleep bc of its ability… this fight took me a few tries
My Annhilape clutched with 48 HP after a 4x Special Boosted Shell Side Arm and used Rage Fist.
But goddamn that was really really close
Aside from Slowbro, a Corviknight can destroy her team
Brotip: Kill Whimsicott and Alcremie right away when they come in if possible
@@QuasarBuasarEevee Alternatively, keep Alcremie alive while focusing on sweeping the rest of the team, it will be near useless because it will try to use Decorate and fail everytime since there's no target. My boi Clodsire with Water-absorb, a Tera Poison and holding a Metronome while spamming Poison jab made most of the fight a cakewalk, especially when her Alcremie was on the battlefield.
I can say with full confidence that this is one of the hardest group of elite four I’ve ever faced. 3/4 battles left me with only one Pokemon left to fight. KEEP DOING THIS.
Seeing these guys being so strong (and apparently just still training) and the stronger rematches with the Paldea Elite four and Champ makes me wonder how all the Elite Four members from previous Gens would be if they had the same level as them and more optimized teams.
We did get a good example of that in BDSP.

Man that intro is rising tension. To not know how hard they will be, it was a blast having those battles with this theme.
My fight with Crispin was the most enjoyable battle I’ve had in a while, he took down both my hard counters on the first turn but thanks to my Altaria bulking up with Cotton Guard and tanking most hits, I slowly chipped him down until I beat his Blaziken with my Decidueye in a battle of the starters…LOADS of fun
These trainers have the be some of the strongest ever! I really enjoyed their fights a lot.
I like to believe that this Elite 4, being that they're school kids, embody a feeling of 'the next generation' with their new style of battling (i.e. doubles in an E4). They really do be 'breaking the mold'

I love how their group strongly embodies aspects of: Passion, Cuteness, Precision, and Cunning, for Crispen, Lacie, Amarys, and Drayden respectively.
Each one of their designs, battle preferences and personalities ties strongly into their makeup.
Gamefreak please im begging you, more fights like these in the future! The fact that I ACTUALLY LOST for the first time in a pokemon game since Ghetsis in Black and White was such an amazing feeling. The gloves REALLY came off with the BBA Elite four and champion, it was wonderful having to actually consider my next move carefully!

It makes sense that this is the only non remixed theme from black and white of a concept that already existed in the previous game. That's because while they are the elite four, they are not the official unovan ones but only the academy ones so that explains why the theme is completely different
Coming from someone whos more of a casual player who doesnt know much of competitive, I LOVED how challenging the BB league was. I never really struggled with any elite four before since my first game was X and my pokemon were over leveled in BDSP, so it was fun having a nice challenge
My headcanon is that Crispin isn’t really into training super hard and because he loves cooking and food, he just fed his pokemon a ton of exp candies
Crispin was the first one I fought, can’t say I was expecting his Speed Boost Blaziken to sweep my team with Temper Flare lol

Drayton wrecked me twice and I had to bring out my level 100 team to win. Even then, I still had to strategize in order to win! Glad to see a difficulty spike in this dlc!
I was SO tempted to use the team he had us catch cause he deserved that respect, but I only had enough resources to get Cincinno buffed up. Still put in work with rock blast taking down his flying dragons.
I got unlucky with Haxorus flinching and critting me on my first attempt, but eventually, my Pixilate Sylveon's Throat Spray Hyper Voice helped me a great deal against Drayton.

It is for mainline games This is DLC which means optional content.
If this was in the base game then definitely absolutely better but because this was released after all the complaints and is DLC it doesn't count.

@@conspiracyspider That argument hasn't been valid since the Alolan games though. The games got very easy during gen 6 but after that the difficulty went up and it's no easier than it was before. Guzma and Lusamine were some of the harder villains, Ultra Necrozma was actually hard, Giovanni was good, Mewtwo from LGPE was hard, Volo was ridiculous, etc. The main games had some great battles too, Ioni's Misdreavus for example was great. Go back to HGSS and tell me it's harder than modern Pokemon games. There are plenty of things to complain about regarding modern Pokemon but difficulty isn't one of them, they've only made it more fun

The problem was never the Exp Share, but rather the people can't tell the difference between forced grinding and difficulty
I'd also add USUM to the list of the hardest games.
What makes the ID, BDSP and USUM difficult is that trainers have Pokemon with good IVs, they're EV trained and have optimized movesets and abilities.

In USUM, trainers are using FULL HEALS if their Pokemon gets statused in addition to the Super Potions/Full Restores they already have.
Interestingly though, SV including ID didn't have any NPCs use healing items at all.

Amarys is stronger than Chispin - She uses Steel, that is weak agains Fire.
Lacey is stronger than Amarys - She uses Fairy, that is weak against Steel.
Drayton is stronger than Lacey - He uses Dragon, that is weak against Fairy.
You can't prove me wrong these guys are very competitive, dedicated and experienced.
This was the first Elite Four to legitimately kick my ass, no matter how overleveled I was. Having to form an actual strategy in order to even approach them was... satisfying. Exciting, even. Like I had been missing something all these years.

10 years, actually, X and Y were released in 2013.
The personality of this Elite Four is great, even down to the Pokéballs they use.
Drayton is a slacker that doesn’t put a ton of effort into things, but despite that his Mons are all in regular Pokéballs that don’t have a super high catch rate. This to me says it may not seem like it, but he puts effort in where it counts.
Amarys is very rigid in sticking to a motif, and we see that directly in her catching steel types in a ball that would suit them; the Heavy Ball. She has a role and sticks to it, but she doesn’t seem addled at all about the burden.
Lacey is kinda surprising, as you’d expect her to use Love Balls, but Nest Balls also fit her quite well. Out of the four she is by far the friendliest towards cute Pokémon, which are typically lower levels. This shows she got strong with effort, which she admits doing so by accident at some point.
And Crispin, who is notoriously impatient and energetic, simply caught all his Pokémon in Quick Balls. Dude probably ran around Unova/ the Terrarium like a mad man, searching for the the spiciest Mon he could possibly find.
He's got a buncha Magmortars based on his elite challenge.
I'll probably never forget when I was fighting Crispin with my last pokemon that was outspeeding their Blaziken but not okhoing it and being like "please don't tell me it has speed boost..."
Lacey was a nightmare. I enjoyed our battle but she was extremely tough!
Edit: I love the elite four here! Very strong and some made me actually plan ahead. Definitely the right way to do pokemon battles. Make us THINK. We WANT a challenge this far in!
I'm only somewhat ashamed to admit that Lacey took me 5 tries because goddamn, that Primarina. When I first saw the Throat Spray item in the store I was like "that's so niche, when are you gonna use that?" And somewhere, Lacey laughed.

This is the first time an elite 4 actually had me nearly loose.
They use competitive held items and strategies.
We might not have gotten a Battle frontier again, but this makes up for it
yeah, the only other elite 4s i lost to were BDSP which have semi-competetive teams when the player basically cant

I had so much fun with this DLC, it’s so fun and challenging, I only had Violet version but I went ahead and bought Scarlet and another switch just so I could play it again!! Lol
As soon as I heard this theme play in game I knew the BB League members were on an entirely different playing field with that synth sounding the way it does

I deadass got excited when I battled these guys for the first few times with a dlc caught team and got wiped each time. Even with my competitive doubles team I struggled, easily the hardest E4 in the franchise, they need to keep doing stuff like this!
Gamefreak did not disappoint, I remember reading that they were going to make the battles tougher, let's just say I have a new respect for doubles battles 😅

My headcannon is that Crispin is a distant nephew of Chili,Cress, and Cilan since they own a restaurant but he favors Chili more, and that Amarys is a distant neice of Lenora. It would be a cool throwback to the memory link cutscene that Lenora and Clay do work together/colleagues and now Clays daughter and Lenoras neice work together/are friends.

Amarys is easily the coolest of the 4. Between her formidable Steel type crew and her badass way of speech, she definitely left quite the impression on me the most!
One of the toughest elite four being a bunch of teenagers at some school mimics what our world is going through. Generation Z is the first generation to grow up with the internet at full force. Having access to so much information allows kids to learn skills a lot faster and more efficiently. Take basketball, for example. High schoolers today are doing dunks that could win an NBA dunk contest in the 70's. You NEVER saw teenagers doing 360 dunks back then. Young athletes are going into professional sports and destroying everyone. We are entering an age where kids are outperforming adults in skill and that's crazy to think about

Bro these guys actually kind of kicked my ass. I had swapped out my all bug team to start fresh for the end of the Teal Mask with my team consisting of Ogerpon, Araquanid, Elektross, Garchomp, Chi-Yu, and Magearna. All of them required the usage of items with Amarys and Lacey requiring a round two! The music being so intense really made those fights with only Drayden being a cake walk after letting my Magearna stack a few soul hearts lol (This was after reviving her since one of his bastard dragons hit her with a close combat turn 1).
Call Game Freak Crispin because they were COOKIN WITH THIS ELITE 4!

Not only was the BB League Elite Four made up of great characters, but these battles were an actual challenge! Shows that Gamefreak DOES know how to make Pokemon battles much more difficult. Really hoping difficulty options return in future generations. 🙏🏽
Compare and contrast to the old gens (yes people don't pretend only new gens do this) where the only pretense of difficulty is making the level higher which is plain fake difficulty because as soon as you even the levels they go back to dropping like flies.
Considering Unova is also where Game Freak decided to experiment with difficulty options in BW2, I can't help but feel like the entirety of Indigo Disk's design is a wink and a nod "yes we know, we hear you guys"
