Thanks again for this, I needed the refresh. I’ve been fishing straight braid or fluorocarbon this year. The last braid to fluorocarbon leader I tied was 2 years ago. The Bimini twist held up until last year when my braid caught on a lay down and frayed. Figured it was time to go back to the GT.
Great tutorial! Was thinking of trying a loop to loop for tuna using bimini in braid line and a crimp in the flouro leader, especially if leader is not too long, or use all roller guides. Have you ever heard of this?
Thanks for the great video. I wonder whether it is possible to tie this without using the Bimini knot ie just using a loop. I try doing that and do half hitches on the shorter end of the leader... some what similar to the way fg knot ends. Can u advice whether this way is good.
Yes indeed, it almost resembles the FG Knot in a way. I did a video on the history and the difference between these 2 knots also worth looking at. Hope you are well. I am fine just busy with the other part of Toit Fishing at the moment (Tool design etc.) Its going well and I am enjoying it a lot. Need to do more fishing tho, these last 2 years have been bleak with all the virus stuff etc. Take care and stay in touch. Tightlines.
Hey, this is off topic, but your videos have me testing my own knots now, and I have a question...what do you use to cut your fishing line, specifically braid? I know you have cut a lot of it by now! Thanks for putting out quality content!
Hi Mike, definitely not off topic. Tooling, fishing tools and anything to do with making stuff is another one of my passions….😉 Yeah braid scissors, yip I have used and tested so many now, ceramic, carbon steel stainless. Ceramic of which I have tried and tested 4 different types, tend to all fold the line rather than cut it. They tend to not grind these very sharp as edge is brittle, also more importantly they cannot grind a curvature to blade on ceramic like they do on some high quality scissors, curvature is a secret weapon in any pair of scissors. The best I have found is a larger scissors, with a serrated upper jaw and a curved lower jaw, they actually have a 3 inch blade. The problem with the little ones you get at tackle shop is the grinding is poor quality and there is never any curvature on the jaws. Remember when you cut braid it’s like cutting 100 pieces of line every time you cut it, all those filaments, hence the edge does not last. Hope that helps. Tightlines.
If I have time on the weekend I’ll try get #Shorts out. I am hoping to get the Bimini tested next so we have a baseline for the strength on these Bimini/Leader type knots, of which the GT Actual is the 1st. Tightlines.
Now there’s a Million Dollar Question. To be fair I use a few depending on how I am fishing. Bristol into Bimini if I was looking for max strength. If I am live lining with a Non-Return I would use the Albright. If I am lure fishing and there is no rush or getting ready before hand I would use the FG with Rizutto. And my go to for quick connection is GT Knot Viral. However all the above I can see changing on what we have learnt in past 8 weeks, guessing it may be either Modified, or actual GT knot into Bimini and quick knot will be the Slim Beauty. Although this may even change as we uncover more knots. Tightlines.

Hey Pat, definitely it is a fantastic knot for sure. Thanks for watching. Dankie.

I've tied this in reverse to use it on a reel with braided line backing and mono topshot.

Quite different than the viral version, lol. Hope your doing well Warren

@@toitfishing Hey thanks for the reply! Do you have a link to any you would recommend?
@@mikeh3945 I bought a Rapala Super Line Scissors in Walmart. They do the job! $5.00
When for the FG knot?
Hopefully soon enough.😉 that knot has really gained a lot of support from
Anglers far and wide.
Really what a load of tripe
Pretty intense music in that knot montage.
Yeah it was a bit of fun. Tightlines.😉
Can you give me a sneak peak? How strong is it?
What knot do you use as your main line to leader connection mr toit ??

Tightlines.
gt knot or Fg knot?
With practice, the FG is my fave over the GT.
