I knew of Will Geer as Grandpa Walton. Then I saw the role he played in Seconds. I have whiplash. People have said they couldn't accept Hugh Grant playing the role of a cannibal in Cloud Atlas. I had no trouble believing him in the role. Will Geer as a calculating, shrewd businessman/CEO...under cuts his amiable grandpa role with the no nonsense, acerbic grandma.
The Manchurian Candidate, Seconds, and The Train by Frankenheimer (throw in Birdman of Alcatraz and Three Days in May) is certainly one of modern cinema's truly great directorial tours-de-force. From roughly 1960 until 1967-8, he was producing a string of first rate films.
i first saw seconds in 1978 and never really under stood that film but 4 years later i now that i video and recorded it and could watch it my own time firstly the surreal opening titles the Jerry goldsmith score the black and white photography ,it is a film which is never shown on TV one of the sky channels screened it about 9 or ten years ago a truly deep film and in many many ways not an easy film to watch in its day a flop but over the years it has become a something of a classic . two major actors rock Hudson and Sean Connery made two truly great films at that period of time Rock hudson making Seconds and Sean connery making The Hill showing that these two actors could really act
It has nothing to do with algorithm. I like Criterion, I would like to subscribe to their channel, but the sudden spam is a pain. They're still doing it 2 years later.
"A deep need to transform ourselves"... so what lessons along these lines can the film teach us when it comes to the trans movement? It's also mentioned in in the comments that the film was made at time where there was a belief that plastic surgery could provide "a second identity and indeed a whole second life..." this is the promise of surgery today with the trans movement...
One of my favorite films - truly amazing

This film blew my mind when I first watched it recently.
That's a brilliant concept for a film. I must watch

For a Hollywood director it's pretty remarkable.
Seven Days in May
"modern" LOL
@@MrRazorblade999is Hollywood director some sort of stigma?
@@cesarzpontu8886 No, but they are generally not that good.

Omg The Hill is fantastic. It deserves much more attention.
This is a brilliant film. Great cinematography. It also features several actors who were blacklisted, so stick that in your image pipe and smoke it.
Geer's asst. Richard Anderson helping to make the first six million dollar man!!
A truly macabre film! Jerry Goldsmith's score is chilling and James Wong Howe's cinematography is visually disturbing. A cinematic nightmare!
The sense of dread is always in the background .
Whoever is posting these videos to your account needs to not spam them out all on one day. Space them out a little. One or two or three max a day.

Its obvious. No matter how you change your appearance, you are still the same person underneath. Very good point👍
