On the Channel: ASPARAGUS and ERASERHEAD

I just watched the double feature, and it's so perfect. _Asparagus_ really helps ease you into accepting the odder elements of _Eraserhead_ and even the credits look similar enough that it feels almost like two parts of the same story.

I have known Suzan Pitt going back before Asparagus. She makes the most amazing animated films and has been a wonderful teacher at Cal Arts (where I studied animation, 1972-74). I remember the 1978 theatrical primer of Asparagus in 35mm at the Pacific Film Archive!!! What a perfect match with Eraserhead.

I saw them as a double-feature at the Waverly theatre in Greenwich Village, NYC in 1979.

Have seen Eraserhead projected - it's makes quite a difference. Also great fun watching it in a large group.
