You can tell this was Capcom's passion project at the time. To see how faithful the game is to the manga source material, it really is amazing since at the time there was no anime adaptation(not sure when the OVAs released), but they were able to capture the voices, characters and the story perfectly. Considering a bunch of JOJO characters influenced street fighter character designs (Guile = Polnareff / Rose = Lisa Lisa / Charlie = Kakyoin) just shows how much love they put into this Jojos game.
I keep saying this- in order for a game based on _any_ franchise to succeed, you need to have a dev team that actually gives a damn about the franchise, and remove _any_ obstacle that keeps them from being passionate about it. So many potential projects have been dusted either because the devs just didn't care, or because they were restricted too much.
The original OVA that adapted the second half of part 3 came out in 1993 (the rest in 2000) but we didn't get it in the west til 2003, so HFTF was the first JoJo product that came here and brought myriad incomprehensible memes. There was also a drama CD from '92 where DIO was voiced by Norio Wakamoto and it is GLORIOUS.
The passion paid off too. HFTF was released around the time where the JoJo manga series was at the height of it’s popularity. Because the developers were Capcom (who should be the main ones developing manga/anime based games, IMO) and the fact that they were highly established in Japan and bringing new things to the table, the arcade game became a best-seller there. Definitely thank Kinu Nishimura, Bengus, and Akira Nishitani for the JoJo inspired Capcom characters. Kinu mentioned she was obsessed with Araki’s works back in the mid 90s. Lol
Nowadays Capcom's passion is to delist great older games like this from their online stores. So it becomes a chore to find and play them anyway way we can.
My favorite mechanic in this game is the Anubis sword wielders’ counter mechanic where if you counter a move, you “learn” that move and you can then alpha counter that specific move on block for free every time afterwards. It’s true to the source material and it’s fun to play with. this game truly was special
It was a very nice take from Capcom on exploring "personal systems/mechanics", that is a fg concept that sometime later would become remarkable in Arc Systems' fgs. Before Jojo there were some small experiments in Darkstalkers, but not much beyond that in other Capcom franchises. Then Jojo came with a more mature take on that concept. Anyways both Jojo and GG were so ahead of the time.
At 3:20, the reason why D'Bo lets you take the first round for free is because in canon, his Stand draws power from his anger and hatred, so he lets his enemies beat him up first to get himself worked up. That's some great attention to detail.
Exactly. Top comment. Goes to show the reverence for the source material they had. This game and the 90's OVA were my introduction to JoJo, as I'm sure it was for a lot of us in the west back then. Quality.

Please Capcom! Make a Trigun fighting game in this style! Hol Horse is so badass; you just gotta give him a red coat and glasses!
Let's go...! I had this on CPS2 emulator...I thought nobody cared about this game! Love your content!
Arcsys PLZ remake this game, ik its capcom who made this gem but imagine this with fighterZ graphics and presentation. Itd be one of my favorite fighting games of all time
Yea but then you would have to play an Arcsys game
I love JoJo's Bizarre Adventure! I recently finished Part 6. I'm assuming this is your first time playing HttF, but you seem to understand the Stand mechanics pretty well.
By hidden gem you mean basically the most popular game on fightcade
it's really not, kof 98, 02, Super turbo, 3rd strike, mvc2, and even cvs2 are all more popular on fightcade.
@@owengilroy9256 I guess you could say they are more popular but you don't even have to scroll to come across the HFTF server
@@prodbykenshi304 you also have to consider that fightcade itself is pretty niche
@@owengilroy9256 True
@@owengilroy9256 last I seen mvc2, cvs2 and ST was lower, but yea kof98,02 and 3s are the 3 top on FC
totally want some more matches of this on the channel!
Old school Capcom games have that magic touch
This is super identical to Street Fighter and I love it.
Missing the BNB on the intro, feelsbadman
Funny thing is, I got into the game a couple of days ago, I’ve played some of it, it’s really fun and I love how this has different mechanics compared to what other Capcom games had.
Id love to see more!
Also, have you tried the fist of the North star fighting game?
I'm still watching. Can't wait for the most recent manga to become animated
I love anime series based fighting games
It's really is crazy Capcom made a game like this
Stuff like this is so cool to see
I whached all of of jojo s and read the manga 3 TIMES😊
That must have been one crazy anime series! 😄
Hftf is incredibly underrated lmao.(I say that even tho it's one of the most active lobbies on fightcade)
Timeless classic that stops the time (pun intended)! I read part 3-6, and trying to complete part 8
Clears throat, "Ahem...STAAAANDOOO POWAAAAHHDAHHHH!!!!!!!"
I used to play this on PlayStation so much with all the characters. Joseph and Dio are my favorites such a dope game I think this is a cps3 like SF3 I can’t remember but it’s definitely one of the best and most fun fighters I’ve ever played. Fighting the cpu is one thing but check out some tournaments once you really learn the game and play with someone else who really knows the game it gets real wild
You should play this game again but with other characters! Its a blast
I don't know about hidden gem, it's pretty popular, but I definitely wanna see more tournaments.
Yooo when i was around 12 a laundrymat opened near my house in the pjs that had point blank, the classic snk cab with metal slug, puzzle bubble, fifa and the kof of the year….. but the one that was always packed was this game.street fighter alpha probably had came out idk but i just remember this game and being tripped the fuck out lol
11:39 he was injured but not so much, and boy was he anger!
except the part where he get his ribs broken
@@Combustie jojowise that's pretty ok
Ain't even do one Stop Time Super
Absolutely play more, this game SLAPS and everyone who plays it, loves it. All the characters feel very unique and flavorful - i think Midler would be great for you! I use her and blackpol :)
Never watched your channel before but I would definitely watch more JoJo fighting game content.
Leave weeb
@@bryanc7094 Says the nerd who probably spends 8+ hours a day being shit at fighting games.
@@PuuberZ made his soul left his body, but fr as a purely FG player hftf is one of the best FG’s out there, would recommend getting into it, don’t let people gate keep you from enjoying FG’s
Played this for the first time last night on fightcade and now I’m in love 🤷♂️
I hope this game gets added to the Capcom arcade stadium. Where you can play their arcade games like. E.G Street Fighter Mega Man power battle.
THANK YOU FOR GIVING THIS GAME LOVE!
