Waku Waku 7 is a fairly simple but cool game, for people that doesn't know characters in this game are pretty much parodys of other popular character or thropes from the time, Mauru is an obvious reference to Totoro for example haha This game can be played in Fightcade 2 with a fairly active community. There's good resources like a complete wiki, training mode and bi weekly tournaments haha
@@r9ue Huh, yeah no one plays Bonus Kun mainly for 2 reasons, he's only in the console versions of Waku and only recently we got the boss hack to have its own lobby and he sucks lmao
I´d actually recommend the PS2 version of Waku Waku 7 (even tho it´s a japan only game) because it has an arranged soundtrack different from the Saturn release, and also you get an extra game.
@@retroray6836 The Sunsoft collection is a nice port from both Waku and Galaxy FIght the first fighter made by Sunsoft, the arranged soundtrack is also something that happens in the Saturn version as the 3 versions, Arcade, Saturn and ps2 received different soundtracks or at least arranged version of them.
A gem for the animation alone. Used to play Slash and try to be nice with it but Politank-Z was just soooooo much fun. Like an SNK variant of Sentinel but with a Ghibli vibe.
13 year old me had fun playing this in a local arcade. Still looks fun today. There are the Warning special moves that are slow but powerful. And dandy-j is so obvious who is being referred to.
when I discovered this game it was my favorite fighting game for a while, eventually beat it with all the characters! it was really advanced in the mechanics and had great art! this game is a parody of a ton of anime. good stuff.
Waku Waku 7 was such a hidden gem in the arcades! I always enjoyed playing it just to take breaks playing Marvel 2 or CvS2 with tourney locals in my city
Everybody else in the arcade I went to wasp laying Tekken 2 as it'd just come out, but I spotted this in the corner and fell in love with it. I'd also try my hand at KOF 94 which they had there.
I LOVE Waku Waku 7. Before WW7, I was a hardcore Capcom (Street Fighter, MvC, MvSf etc.) fan.. this is The Game that pretty much broke SNK Ground for me. After this, I started playing KoF97, and then fell in love with The KoF Series. All because of this Game.
I have an easier time finishing AOF 2 on 1 credit than FF2/FFS. Then again I play AOF 2 a hell of a lot more than FF2/FFS. The game’s not that hard, unless you suck at noticing and exploiting holes seen in the AI.
thank you SO much for giving waku waku 7 more exposure, justin! ❤️ one of the most important games of my childhood as it introduced me to fighting games as well as creating so many memories of maining maru against my brother for hours on end at the arcade. such a lovely gem of a game to this day; makes me sad that it's so obscure even in FGC circles.
Everyone in this game has an unblockable Level 3-esque move, as they do a whole lot of damage (it even says "Warning!" on the screen). The drawback it's that they have pretty long startups and can be interrupted. But the final boss just gives the middle finger to such rules, as his super comes out instantly and can't be interrupted (while still being unblockable!), as it has armor (it's that rolling super move he did a few times) Tesse is more like a zoner, but her gimmick it's that her item throw move gets more and more powerful as long as she holds it. The EX version of said move can get pretty ridiculous if you let her hold it fully, since it becomes chaos. And her Level 3 is pretty cool
So THIS is the game that cute bunny girl is from. Also the last boss is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. Got me cryin from laughin so hard. XD
I never knew what this game was until now. When I was a little kid, i bought a CD-RW with a busted, giant Mugen roster, and one of the characters was "Fernandeath" and i loved him. I never knew where he was from until now. He's more busted in this game than he ever was in Mugen tho
What I will say is...I REALLY loved how creative they got with the Boss Fight, in terms of making you grow Super Giant. I honestly think more Fighting Games should do something Super Creative like that!
I remember this game! This game is on the Switch now! Politank is easily my least favorite character. Dandy J's cool, Slash is fun, Arina is really fun to play! Oh! When you are at the title screen and you 'insert coin' 7 times, the title flips reverse!
Man I can't believe you actually played it, I'm happy now, thanks man, I hope you enjoyed this crazy game! P.S. gotta learn those Warning moves tho, they're nice :D
The secret to this game is spam the ex moves and the gold power up mode as meter builds crazy fast. In gold mode you do inflict much more damage AND also take much less damage, and gold burst works great as an anti air or reversal. But you want to not whiff it or you can get punished by a good player. At higher level turns more into a meter resource management game where there’s lots of far distance zoning with the EX projectiles mixed with rush down with the gold power up mode, and it revolves around trying to use resources and gold burst to your advantage
Waku Waku 7 is my favourite fighter. I have such nostalgia for it from playing it in an arcade near where I went to college every morning. I play as Mauru. It'd be great to see you play this in a tournament where you don't have to worry about AI nonsense.
Check out Astra Superstars, it was the next (and I believe last) fighter that Sunsoft made after Waku Waku 7. It was on the arcade ST-V board, which was identical to the Sega Saturn which it was also ported to.
Wow, never thought i would see this game again. It was my favorite for while. Just missed in The gameplay The "warning " specials. No defence and some were really difficult to dodge.
lol this reminded me of my first time playing SF2 at home...no clue what I was doing and just switching between all the characters every time I die, "one of these has to do something cool!"

Justin Wong. From ‘a game he never played’ to ‘Evo ready’ in one sitting...
FUN DA MEN TALS

Had me in tears 😂😂😂
I NEED a tier ranking of every final boss Justin has fought this year

waku waku 7 is from sunsoft not SNK
@@PGreco-ov8qe isn't it owned by Neo Geo, which is a Parent Company of SNK? Cause I could've Sworn I Saw a Neo Geo and SNK labels in The Intro.
Waku waku IS a weird game. But looks like fun. I would die a happy man if you did the hardest difficulty on Art of Fighting 2.
Is that even possible?
Are u sure that are you the one that is going to die?
Dude... We cant have Justin die from madness 🤣🤣🤣
Against Geese :3

Yeah, forgot about that
Bro! Another gem. Man once you get the mechanics down it's so much fun. Glad to see you trying it out.
Nice to see playing Waku, Justin.
It's like all are saying: Waku Waku is weird, but really simple when you understand the game.
Fernandez needs to be the final boss in the next CVS. Thanks for the playthrough.
not usually what people mean when they say "the final boss sucks ass"
Jesus, I can't imagine trying to pick up and learn these games on Level-8.
So THIS is the game that cute bunny girl is from.
Also the last boss is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. Got me cryin from laughin so hard. XD
I love the vocals on Arina's stage music
Waku Waku 7 is weird af, but i really love it for it.
It has a lot of personality.
I would dig seeing you play much more of this! I feel like there’s so much to be digested just in this one video.

Yoh, one of the not much known classic. Thank you for playing this. I hope you try to play Gowcaizer and Kabuki Clash as well.
Waku Waku 7 is the greatest in a number of things - character select theme, anime homages, the final boss... desu...
THE BOSS' NAME IS FERNANDEZ?!?!
What I will say is...I REALLY loved how creative they got with the Boss Fight, in terms of making you grow Super Giant.

7:40 in this game, you have priority on dying.
"I'm starting to understand a little bit." = F*** it, I'm gonna lame it out.
I love it when I'm like "Oh, that character's from Salty Bet" :)
It's so funny to see pros playing games that I've been playing since I was like 13, 25 years ago
And they not knowing them
This was a very unusual game. Entertaining none the less. Great content.
thx for playing this game justin bro!!! Love Ya!!! your one of my best role models in sport history!! ill keep watching your stuff have a great day!!

The "doo be doo' singing on the intro is unmatched in the history of fighters
I'm going to take you for ride
13:35 Justin: "(Let me stop myself there, the kids are home)"
LMAO the final boss being named Fernandez is too funny for some reason, like "OH NO, ITS FERNANDEZ!!!!!" isn't very threatening
In the japanese version, his name is actually 'Fernandeath'
I remember seeing this game when I looked through MAME. Man, these character designs are too strong.
This game is so amazing and nostalgic!! I really enjoyed seeing it here in your channel
I absolutely loved this game!
Wish they made another one.
That Totoro character makes a lot of damage with his hyper beam!!!
Rai, he must be Rai-yu, right?
...oh he's Terry! 😭
I was waiting for you to play this so much, now only matrimelee is remaining and i can rest in peace
I'd played about a dozen games with Mauru back in the day, and I swear I didn't remember that the creature had a kid on its back.

Ah, Waku Waku 7, forever a neat cult classic. Thanks for reminding me of this fun little oldie.
so many good memories from this game, neo geo was insane, so many good games
That was some high level play! Good job Justin!
The Sunsoft trilogy always looked interesting but I have yet to play them.
Every character has one of those "WARNING" supers. They do massive damage if you can figure them out.
Waku waku is lit man. Thanks for the nostalgia trip, I used to spend countless hours on this game!
I love waku waku. I was like the only kid who knew about this game
I can remember playing this game in the arcade. I also had a for the Sega Saturn. I absolutely loved how quirky this game was.
This game aged pretty well, I was Main Slash back in the day.

Justin stay preparing for any and all fighting game tournaments let’s go!
A giant ball as a final boss who poops you out and is named Fernandez. I don’t think it gets better than that
I just came to the comments to say how much I FREAKING LOVE that character selection song!!.
Great videos you upload Justin! You should have a rematch vs CigarBob on SF2T, that'd be fun
I love playing with maid Robot 🤖
13:13 best move in fighting game history like even boo don’t even do that
This game is beautiful and fun. 😁👌
The morotcycle flying at the end was the climax.
I know the boss for... Bad reasons
This is the first fighter I played. I CAN NOT pull of the ex special attacks. i love the art style tho.
lmfao "my man was about to give me the rakishi" LOL
I love these Neo Geo fighters, you should try Kabuki Klash next, a really enjoyable one.
arina beam!
at the bigining of the game is very nice video called "HOW TO PLAY"!!!
The creativity and imagination of those designers never cease to amaze me.
You gotta do Astra Superstars next, the third and final Sunsoft fighter
I would say it has the cutest boss ever in a fighting game 😁😁😁
glad you finally played one of my favorite games
Justin: I don't know... I don't know what I'm doing! Me: Neither do I bro. Neither do I.
This is the weirdest boss I ever seen
Fernandez is such a random name to be put on character like that. It's probably a internal joke.
To meet Fernandeath and Bonus-kun the first time was a hilarious experience for me. LOL
