I have a Phage deck that's inspired by this channel, and it has my highest winrate among decks. Nobody's ever quite sure what it's going to do, so I can usually chill out, play politics, and sneak in a win at the end.
You know, I didn't think Endless Whispers was worth including in my Phage deck. This game may have changed my mind. I also definitely need a stunning reversal.
If I had $1 for every time a player stacks his mana rocks with his lands and they magically avoid board wipes ala oblivion stone, I would be a very rich man. Seriously, every muddstah game I see where someone stacks their artifacts with the lands this happens. And because it happened Harry was able to counter your Goblin Recruiter, which he otherwise would not be able to do. You should make it a house rule that people cannot stack mana rocks with their lands. This. Would. Stop.Happening.
isnt it a rule in mtg anyways that there are certain "zones" for your cards so you not mix them together? Following a Grand prix where someone lost because a dryad arbor was stacked with the lands and therefore not seen?
I had to double take when I saw phage on the picture! Thrilled to see someone make a functioning deck with it! I had a deck with the same win combo only I added dead iron sledge. If you attack they are damned if they block and damned if they don’t!
I came for Bruna, stayed 4 Phage xP It was awesome to see Dale take everyone down one by one by having his own commander end up under his opponents controls!!
Not to mention not attacking with a goblin army 2 turns in a row. Prob could have killed anyone at the table if he’d of swung and remembered the valakut triggers
The number 1 card that should be ran in Bruna is Mirrormad Phantasm. It has the potential to mill your whole library and when you swing you get all those auras back
The only thing that annoyed me this time was how the Oblivion stone got popped immediately. Might as well let Bruna player have at it one turn or so, since Phage does not care about lifetotals.
If my memory serves me currently, not included in the video is me looking at the card in my hand shouting "THIS IS SO BAD" and basically saying "eh whatever if I die I die."
Lol, I know exactly why Dale got rid of Eldrazi Displacer. Phage is susceptible to killing her pilot, and Eldrazi Displacer is one of many tricky cards that easily beats Phage by simply forcing her to blink into your opponent's board without being cast. Phage is a terrible deck idea for a lot of metas, especially if your opponents can force her into re-entering the battlefield before her pilot can actually protect her. She is cute the first time many people see her, but I have never lost to a Phage deck and I rarely play competitive lists. It was neat to see her work though, Phage usually kills at least one person at the table if a game goes long enough.
Yoooo, that Phage deck was spicy! XD I liked the Lavinia theme as well :) also, is it just me or does Goblin Matron really like being played? Every time I play or see a goblin deck, she’s within the first few turns lol
@@namename8004 In the list i found 4. And Phage itself is a meme, even if sometimes works. The fact that it is possibile does not make her less of a meme.
In turn 11, as Phage dies and enters under Ryan controls, he loses the game, but Phage doesn't leave the battlefield, instead, the control effect ends and Dale gains control of her again, wich is super relevant since it meant he couldn't have drawn 7 cards from stunning reversal. Now, if he happened to have any way to kill Phage in hand, all bets are off, he wins anyway, but if not, who knows
Could be wrong, but I believe it was actually played out correctly in this case. Effects that "give control" or "switch control" end when the non-owner of a card loses the game, switching back control of the card, as you said. But for cards not being affected by a "change control" effect that are nonetheless under control of an ooponent because they entered the battlefield there, they are instead exiled when that player loses. See the rules for Captive Audience.
I had this question myself, so I dug through the comprehensive rules for it and found it. “800.4c If an effect that gives a player still in the game control of an object ends, there is no other effect giving control of that object to another player in the game, and the object entered the battlefield under the control of a player who has left the game, the object is exiled. This is not a state-based action. It happens as soon as the control-changing effect ends.”
@@TheYamiyugi123 Wait, what? That wording is sorta confusing. I can't tell if it's talking about an effect that changes control or if it's talking about an effect that places an object on another player's board. I have twin sources for my understanding: Captive Audience and Xantcha, Sleeper Agent. According to the rulings, Xantcha switches control to her owner when the player you gave her to loses. But Captive Audience becomes exiled under the same circumstances. This is, as far as I understand it, for the reason I explained in my last comment.
Temporal Tomato Temporal Tomato So rule 800.4, and all subsections of it, deal with players leaving the game. Basically what this one is saying is that when a player loses, anything that entered the battlefield under that persons control gets exiled. The first few lines just clarify that there have to not be any effects that give control of the object to another player, such as a control magic, for it to get exiled when the player loses. Tl;dr, what you said is right, I just was providing the rule for it, which I see know is weirdly worded and kinda confusing lol
He had 8 mountains, so that's 3 missed triggers. But some of them probably would have targeted creatures that ended up getting wiped shortly afterwards anyway.
Two points: wouldn't have the azorius locket been destroyed by the oblivion stone before he could activate its effect? And secondly, how could Phage be enchanted with endless whispers if she had shroud from the cloak? Still, fun gameplay, keep going!
The game could have been hilarious if one of the azorius players had cast a fractured identity on the phage (after removing the cloak). The result would have been the same tho^^
I love your Krenko deck… you love your Krenko deck… but for the love of all that is good and holy, can we see you pilot a different Goblin deck? A Zada deck? A Grenzo deck? A Wort, the Raidmother deck? Hell, I’ll even take a Squee deck at this point, I’m not picky.
Eliakim Rodrigues only if it entered the battlefield under their control. If they have an effect like a control magic in play then the original owner gains control of it when the player controlling it dies

The pack art Lavinia is unbearably ugly. I built a Lavinia Omen Pool using the *beautiful* alternate art version just because I wanna show which artwork of Lavinia should be the commander. :3 That Phage deck is quite creative. I didn't even think she was viable as a means to finish off opponents.
omg that Phage deck made me feel things and my wallet suddenly feels lighter :O
lol. had the same when i first saw mistform on this channel.
Same here!
When you are actually stunned by how Stunning Reversal interacts with Phage
I think everyone can appreciate that clean dice turn at 11:41
Before watching the video: Phage that's a bad idea for a commander.
After the video: surprised pickachu face
Someone in my playgroup has been using Phage for years and it's great.
I, too equip my whispersilk cloak onto medallions.
man i laughed so hard
So many Valkut missed triggers :(
But great video, as always!!
I love Phage decks, you never know if they're going to succeed in getting her out, or lose trying! 😃

I’m disappointed that two blue/white decks couldn’t handle phage.
Love the video as always though!
well when one of the white/blue decks is aggressive and powerful, the other azorius deck will have its hands full trying to stop it.

Bold move of Harry to cast faerie artisans, considering Phage could've killed him if it entered the battlefield...

You did in fact shout "THIS IS SO BAD"
2:39 Muddstah giving us the *finger*
As a fellow Phage player, that was awesome. My deck doubles a a Big Black mana deck as well so I have all the relevant doublers, coffers and urborg.
I like the way that Phage was played.
You got the spell queller interaction right, the Lavinia just countered it when it was recast for free.
Came for this.
Thank you as always for your hard work! Loved it and can't wait for the next one!

A Phage deck not only did not die and killed someone, but actually managed to win the game.

That phage deck was creative. I like it.
whoa that was one of the coolest games I've ever watched
That is so Azorius of Harry not to let Dale equip his Medallion with the cloak
Enjoyed the vide0 play an love Krenko an all goblins thanks for the idea of cheering fanatic.
Goblin is one my favorite commanded decks to play
I love this channel!
great job!
Oh I see! Command Beacon and Endless Whispers. That's smart :)
After the endless whispers shouldnt your goblins have changed controller, too?
1:07 Skip the Flip
that phage deck was soo good
That was a beautiful end!
Am I missing something? He equips cloak tapping one swamp?
Question . Phage is cast from the command zone not from the end . So cast his commander in leave the game no ?
Also, lol @ the Cloak onto the Medallion HAHAHAHA
Nice video!
Could you please bring an commder anthology gameplay
or a vorel deck ?
Wow, I had badly misremembered Phage. Thought it was on cast, not ETB. Brutal use.
I might be stupid here, but how did he manage to play Phage?
First time was Command Beacon, then 2nd time was stunning reversal
@@slavetophage1688 Perfect - it was the command Beacon i was unfamiliar with :)
@9:40 Dale equips the cloak for only 1 mana... unless he is counting Shizo as a swamp for cabal strong hold.. interesting.
You forget his Jet Medallion.
Why do you not make goblin tokens for non token goblins when activating Krenko?
What sleeves do you have on your krenko deck? And what color are they too?
UltraPro Eclipse in Pink
Can you guys make an urza deck to play?
I loved this video, so cool thank you :D
BEAUTIFUL
play bruna with flash. feels great when some swings at you and you flash in bruna and attach all you aura.
No Purphorous, No Staff of Domination, No sword of the Paruns, all three of those cards are allstars in my Krenko deck.
Sword and Purp are in my 99. I just didn't draw them.
Man, I love my Bruna deck, but a the same time I hate playing. She puts such a big Target on your head from the moment you sit at the table
How was Dale able to cast Phage the first time?
He did use the command beacon to get Phage from the command zone to his hand.
Muddstah did you miss all of the Valakut triggers!!!?
Every single one... I was p*ssed too >:(
Why didn’t dale die the first time he cast phage? On turn 9
He used command Beacon to put her into his hand, then cast her. It's one of the ways to get around the lose condition
He used command beacon to put phage into his hand from his command zone before casting it
At last a good Phage player!
Why didn’t Dale straight up lose when he casted Phage from the command zone?
Seen Pierce stunning reversal’s effect prevents you from losing. It sets the life total to 1 and draws the player 7 cards
"he stops it with a queller, which is frankly rude" XD
No man, it's the obvious choice against a degenerate amount of free mana XD
Jesus christ that was the memest win I've ever witnessed.
Dale's deck seemed a lot more powerful than the others. I mean, demonic tutor?
Krenko if built strong would have an easy win.
So am I missing something or were there quite a few missed valakut triggers? Muddstah definitely had at least 5 mountains by the end of the game
If there's one thing I'm an expert at, it's missing critical triggers.
