Since leaving her famous post at the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office in the mid-90s, Clark has become a bestselling crime novelist. Her new book, Blood Defense, draws upon Ms. Clark’s own experience in the courtroom. It is the first book in a new series about a young, ambitious defense attorney who is looking for her big break when she lands the case of a decorated police detective charged with the murder of a beloved TV star. @@billbuttlicker69agree that Clark and Darden messed up. They should have introduced evidence in the Bronco chase. They should have hammered home the uniqueness of the DNA evidence that is attributable to Simpson only. And they shouldn’t have asked Simpson to try on the bloody glove.
That being said, Ito deserves the largest share of the blame. He failed to control the courtroom. He allowed cameras in despite the case not having any major national security implications. He allowed the defense to run wild with conspiracy theories without evidence. He showed sexism towards Clark. He refused to recuse himself despite the fact that his wife was the superior officer of Mark Furhman.

Dear Hollywood, PLEASE adapt her crime novels into a series!!! A fictionalized version of herself as a ballsy defense attorney handling crazyass cases??? YES PLEASE!!!!!!! She is brilliant, fascinating, and I knew it from day one watching that trial every single DAY in high school. I grew up in Orange County and was friendly with the Brown family and Nicole is buried across the street from my childhood home, and we waited for OJ when he fled at the cemetery and saw the Bronco speed off because of the media and the Bronco chase literally started in my neighborhood, so we were all understandably and immediately glued to every second of the trial.

IDN. I like her a ton. However, I watched every day back then & the prosecution had overwhelming evidence. It was a slam dunk. They had the blood of OJ, RB & NS found in OJ's truck, and in his house, and the prosecution still got destroyed. They got hammered in the worst way so I don't think the show would go well for her if they told the truth in a series.

I was pretty young but I distinctly remember how the media vilified her. Judge Ito, I didn’t realize at the time, treated her in the shittiest way as well.
Ito was obsessed with celebrity. He was holding private meeting with stars in his chambers for no reason than to hang out with them.

Cynthia McFadden is an excellent interviewer. Marcia Clark is so engaging. I watched the trial and I never missed a day. To see it live was riveting. The miniseries was superb. And the documentary, although 7 hours, was excellent.
Marcia such a pillar in the community.
She just spent $12,330,000 of her own money on a shelter for battered people.

I have huge respect for Marcia Clark especially considering all that she went through during the Simpson trial with the media attacking her, the underhanded tactics of the defense and judge Ito's lack of spine and keeping the decorum of the courtroom pristine.
I wish the interviewer would have stopped interrupting Marcia and just let her speak and make her points. Her fan girl thing got very old and made me wish somebody else was interviewing marcia.

A black defendant, black male and white female prosecutors, an Asian judge, black and white male defense lawyers and 10 blacks on the jury. The case I am referring to is the 1992 conviction of murderer Christopher Johnson on the basis of the DNA analysis of a single drop of the victim's blood found in the killer's car. As far as Marcia wanting to "make millions off this case"- she left a higher paying management job in Central Operations before the Simpson case, so that shoots down your theory. Marcia started her law career as a defense attorney, but became a prosecutor to get justice for the victims. I respect and admire her.

Why? Because he said the '85 case left him with “insurable impression". Of the 9 calls by Nicole, only Fuhrman wrote a report, a four years late report .
This is the man who “found" the gloves. He pleaded the 5th when asked if he planted evidence! His tape recording were not all played in court. Surprisingly, similar words were uttered and written in request for a “risk pay" pension in early 80s. The defence had a long suspicion about Fuhrman at the start of the trial, the tape were discovered in late August. It just proved every suspicion about him.
Not enough!! The sloppy work by the criminalists and the forensic team created many doubts. After OJ gave a blood samples, detective Vannater took the blood vial not to the lab, but to OJ's house, presumably to give it to the criminalists there. Ironically, they can't account for 1.5 millilitres of missing blood. The blood on the sock which the man who took it from the scene Mr. Fung, had EDTA (a blood preservative usually added to blood vials). And Mr. Fung initial note on the sock was that it didn't had any bloods on it.
Doubts were all over the place for the jury. The alleged blood stained clothes and the knife was thrown out by OJ at the airport, but he was careless enough to leave a “bloody” sock on his bedroom.
Kato Kaelin heard three loud bangs behind his room. The prosecution say OJ hit his head on the AC unit three times (like a loony tunes cartoon). There were no injuries on OJ's head. Ron Goldman had bruised knuckles, he fought for his life, yet no bruises on OJ's body.

Marcia Clark comes across here as being much more likable and personable than I remember her being in the courtroom during the OJ trial. Lawyers will tell you that being able to connect with a jury through your personality is very important. There were many things that went wrong with the OJ trial. So it’s hard to blame any one thing. However, I can’t help but think that if Marcia Clark had shown more of her witty and lighthearted nature in the courtroom, then she may have been able to connect more with the jury.

Does anyone know where to find this 8 hour documentary they mentioned? TIA Love Ms. Clark. I watched the trial on tv as it happened. I definitely noticed the hostility towards her and wondered at the time if anyone else had. She did an amazing job and I was appalled at the verdict. In my opinion, the jury was star struck and perhaps concerned about the backlash of a guilty verdict to ignore all of the overwhelming evidence.

This woman is so intelligent. I'm glad she has find peace over the trial and doesn't live with regret over something she had no control over. What a great answer when Cynthia brought up the glove not fitting. You knew it wasn't going to fit. "So did you, so did the jury." Everyone always wants to blame someone. They were never going to convict OJ. It was always about race, not justice.
I always liked Marsha Clark. I thought she did the best job anyone can do in that trial. Particularly the closing argument. And she seems to have a great personality.

She’s a fantastic woman and was an excellent attorney. That case is proof that our legal system is broken. For this to happen once is too many times. We have seen in the years since that the US has many systems that were once great now are flawed. Case in point, look at our choices for president. We are not what we thought we were. Turns out we are stupid.

This was so insightful. I watched the OJ case from beginning to end, and felt horrible for Ms. Clark. It was so obvious she had proven OJ, well beyond a reasonable doubt killed Nicole and Ron. Although, I think in some way OJ is getting negative karma handed back to him, but he should have paid the ultimate price with his life.

She was calm, cool, and collected in that courtroom. Having had 10 years experience as a prosecutor; more that all the so called ‘dream team’. Nothing flustered or intimidated her. There was no chance of winning this case due to race and the political climate at the time. She was the best possible prosecutor for the job.
I know this would have been an incredibly emotional case for Marcia, however, I don't think she could honestly say she was unlucky to be a part of it since it essentially made her a household name and hence she has literally made millions due to her affiliation with it. If she had written those books as a completely unknown author she would not have had the book sales and been invited to do (paying) interviews such as these. Through the horrific double murder committed by OJ so many people involved in this case have since moved on to make a lot of money out of it..even Mark Furhman. I'm not putting any of them down, just stating the obvious. Having said all of that I am a huge fan of Marcia, I think she had gotten better with age! She looks amazing 👌❤

@marco polo: Ask Vince Bugliosi what Clark, Darden & Co. could have done (that could have prevented that circus). Hint: There's far more than one thing.
@@stddisclaimer8020 I am a huge fan of Bugliosi and have read his writings on this case. Manson and his other cases had none of the same issues, namely race and courtroom coverage, AND an idiot judge who was the main reason for the loss!
@@marcopolo-xj4yw An Idiot judge perhaps, but my comment's focus was more on the serious errors the prosecution made, which Bugliosi painstakingly detailed in his book and in his interviews and appearances (and you must know what they are).The only question being, absent those prosecutor errors, would the outcome have been different (better)? I say quite likely, yes. A hung jury at the worst.
This is really a great interview. Marcia is a really intelligent, and beautiful woman. The interviewer is really great, too. She aged beautifully. She looks better now, than ever. She shiuld have won that case, but she was told that she was going to lose because he was famous. Very sad case.

Listen to Cynthia McFadden skip over a VERY important part. This part is at 24:23, where Marcia Clark talks about OJ trying on AN ADDITIONAL pair of gloves that were brand new (of the same materials and model of the bloody one), and THEY FIT. Cynthia glosses by this without emphasizing that, that make and model of glove DID FIT, when they were new. Cynthia, here's some advice: Quit trying to be a hot babe by wearing a short skirt and high heels. Just be an interviewer. Dress like an interviewer would dress. Wear business clothes.
Having served on a jury just recently, I was impressed with the thoughtfulness of those serving. I believe that juries do get it right most of the time.

Oh my god I love her ! She is pleasant, engaging, and very cool. I can't imagine those involved in the O.J. trial not wanting to kill themselves each and everyday. Integrity is everything. The fact that she served them all a big fat f**k you on a silver platter when she walked away from her job as a prosecutor says everything about who she is. The cream always rises to the top.
How is that rising to the top? She should’ve stayed in the job field. I feel for her, feeling like she had to quit. So sad. But also the defence probably doesn’t feel like killing themselves. They did their job. Every person needs a defence guilty or innocent. That’s how our justice system works. If we didn’t have defence attorneys we would have an authoritarian government who throws people in jail at will.

The OJ: Made in America sums it up. It was payback for Rodney King. I have a lot of feeling about that one. Sure it was unjust that the 4 officers got off scott-free but to use that as an example in this case where 2 people lost their lives to a man we know did it and let him walk free forgetting 2 people are now died because of him is wrong. Not only that but people celebrating that he walked free. By the end of that trial nobody even remembered who Nicole Smith and Ron Goldberg were and that is the saddest thing about this whole case. A massive "okay boomer" if you ask me.
It wasn't "payback" they did a TERRIBLE job. The Jurors saw how terrible it was. None of the evidence added up.

It’s not an okay boomer. Clearly you don’t understand what okay boomer means. OJ got off cause the LAPD was fucking racist as hell and no one trusted them. This is the fault of a) the LAPD for keeping racist cops having jobs b) the fault of the prosecution for using Mark furman as a witness, knowing he’s a fucking racist (that’s Marcia’s fault as she has admitted, Darden didn’t want furman on the stand because as a black man he knew better). They deserved this brutal beating too this was a wake up call to the LAPD to fucking fix their shit. You can find FBI files from around this time. The LAPD was LITERALLY infiltrated with white supremacist gang members. If a cop said under oath he plead the 5th on whether or not he planted evidence, I too would vote to acquit. You must prove guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. This was a very reasonable doubt

One blood drop at crime scene is enough to convict him period. The dude had Nicole’s and Ron’s blood in his car how the fck is that possible And Also planting evidence was bs it was impossible within the time frame because they didn’t even know he was suspect yet period.

She had called the police that evening and named him by name, still has the detectives card w his license plate #. She sold her story because she was ignorant abt such things and was told by the rag that others had already sold theirs. But she had proof that she called in that night.

People in the comments gushing over this woman about her looks and how smart she is. Ignoring that she absolutely sucked as a prosecutor. She had one of the most slam dunk cases of all time and failed miserably. She withheld evidence. Let her ego and ignorance get in her way.
Agreed. I don't know if you are aware of Vince Buglioso's book Outrage: The Five Reasons Why OJ Simpson Got Away With Murder where he eviscerated the prosecution.
