Holy Cow! Thanks for sharing. I'm 53 and a proud member of the KISS Army. I hate to admit that I heard some new tidbits about Gene in this interview that I didn't know. Like you, I also dicovered KISS when I was around five years oId. I would go over to the neighbor's house to play with my friend that was my age. We would sneak into his older brothers room and listen to his coveted KISS albums. I remember bieng in awe of the KISS album covers and immediately fell in love with their music. I found your channel through The Warning reactions. I have to agree with you that Dany is the complete package and I now have jumped onto The Warning Army train. Anyway, I am looking forward to catching up on your KISS content. Thanks for your honest reactions! We don't have to agree about everything to find common ground and I enjoy hearing what we see through the same lens and I also enjoy throwing my arms up in the air when I don't share your view (yelling out loud "Come on! Rob!")

I completely agree with your love/hate perspective. They are 2 powerful emotions that belong fairly exclusively, to relationships that are significant to us. Kiss was a huge part of my life growing up, so there's been lots of love and hate through the years. Still love them!

Great interview! Very interesting and it contained some things that I didn’t know. Gene’s persona on and off stage are completely different. And it’s thanks to Gene that my favorite band as a teen growing up recorded their first demo…the Mighty Van Halen! Gene always had a keen eye for talent and a sharp sense for business. Thanks for posting.

What an interesting man, and I am ashamed to say it, but I gained a lot of respect? for him since seeing him as a mentor on this recent season of American Idol! Yes I admit to watching it, or rather recording it, so I can skip over what I don't care about, and sometimes there is a lot, and I really enjoyed the advice he was giving! It was as real as this interview! Man I want to see the out-takes! Another great reaction......and I love your insights!

    Gene once said about Nick:
    "He's like me".
It shows, that sexual behaviour like promiscuity is genetically influenced.
That's why Gene's father left. At least, that's what I like about Gene, he NEVER wanted to marry. Because it would have been unfair (for the woman).
He's honest. And Gene supports his father's children and their families.
I even liked him more when he once talked about his "personal shortcomings". He said: "MY. My personal shortcomings".
What Paul wrote about him, Gene accepted and said:
    "It's true. It's all true".
Gene may have a big mouth, but he also can have a big character.
I also liked his interview with Howie Mandel. When they talked about the early years, they gave him a guitar. And what did Gene play? Not his songs, no, Gene played a Paul song.
This was really humble unselfish and great.

Profound.. The part that stood out to me was when Bill noted that Gene had become his dad in character and nature when it came to treating women the same way his dad treated his mom. I still have to wonder if Gene has any conscience as to the lyrics he penned that celebrated that point of view and perhaps now may have some regrets in the influence these may have had on society as the band was a huge icon in American history. Granted, like you said, we can love and hate things about ourselves and others. Good post game comments to VictoryCast! Cheers!

The ego of profit, can only buy empathy upon finding best ways to invoke human rights as a legacy for others. Use that stack of cash to innovate a open source based solution via automation to give back based on remembering what those without are presently challenged by. Philanthophy rather than entropy.

I have very fond memories of all eras. Since I was around 5-9 for the original era... that always will be special. But being a teenager and more active out in the world... 80's KISS was the soundtrack to my life. Girls, independence, parties etc. So my true loyalty and preference is 80s KISS.

I thought the same thing.... that Gene learned from his father's model (as we all do)....
Though sadly, I wonder if his father actually died/was killed in the violence that surrounded them and is why he never came home. If this is true, I find it so sad that he believed his father a womanizer when he may not have been. :-( And because of this belief, then lead the life of a womanizer.

Here is a synopsis of how it went down.
"On Tuesday night’s “Gene Simmons Family Jewels,” Simmons returned to his birthplace in Israel to attend to what he called “unfinished business.” That business included a heartbreaking visit to his father’s grave.
Despite having offered his father some financial support over the years, Simmons had never visited the man since his parents split when he was a small child. The estrangement became a point of regret for Simmons as a letter from his father was read aloud at the cemetery.
“My very dear son, in the beginning of my letter I must thank you for your very helpful support of me,” the message read.
While the letter went on to praise Simmons’ children and partner, Shannon Tweed, the rocker broke down.
“I was so stupid,” he cried. “I don’t know why I didn’t go to see him.”
Eventually Simmons was left alone, except for the cameras, as he fell to his knees and repeated, “I’m so sorry.”

@@victorycast Wow. Thank you so much for this information. And your response.

His mother's Holocaust trauma is his trauma. Parents who don't talk about it cause an even deeper trauma. And it's in the DNA of Genre's children and will be in his grandchildren...

I too was a member of the KISS Army. I am now 56 and yeah, generally I have grown to think that Gene is a complete asshole. I knew his parents came from Hungary and he was from Haifa.. he even had Payot (the Curled locks). I know that Gene is intelligent.. no doubt.. well spoken etc.. it is unfortunate that he has said very provocative crappy things about women. Even Shannon walked out on him in an interview on Tv. He is not perfect as no one is. However... his upbringing probably has something to do with his obsession with money and making a lot of money with KISS.
I know folks come to the US from very tragic poor countries and they say to Americans "You are so ungrateful for all you have.. you have 50 kinds of cereal.... we ate rocks!.. etc etc etc.."... But it is still an illusion... and while some things in the US may have been plentiful and wonderful compared to really primitively poverty struggling countries .... that plenty is often just as toxic. I grew up eating sugary cereal and pop and all the things that other folks say is so "plentiful" .. but yet our youth and poor are still starving!. They still do not have nutrition and often even decent healthcare. 50 types of cereal is not exactly better... if you get my meaning.
