Very detailed comparison, answered some of my key questions. I especially like your humor, "note air, this name doesn't make sense, don't know why they got this name, it's probably one of the most heaviest note". lol. Thank you!
Thanks for the review! I don’t like when reviewers focus too much into spec and not real world experience. I personally don’t want to pay for higher spec when the differences are not even noticeable.
Hey man this review was super helpful, didn't stretch anything, went straight to the facts that I wanted to know. I love the human element of how stuff feels and a little humor too. Thanks man.
Thanks for this great video Nathan. Some people say that the text on the note air is more crisp and that the light distribution is more even thanks to the glass screen. Do you agree?
The background on the Note Air is a bit whiter but to me text crispness looks exactly the same. The frontlights are pretty good on both. The Note Air is a touch brighter along the sides and the Note2 is a touch brighter along the bottom. To me it's more distracting to see brightness variations on every line so I favor the Note2 in that regard. But frontlights vary so much from one to the next it's hard to say one way or the other. Of all the Onyx Notes I've had the Note Pro had the most even frontlight.
@@TheeBookReader Hi Nathan. Is the Note Air cover glass thinner than the Note 2/3? I'm wondering if that is why some perceive the Note Air text to be sharper. A thinner glass cover would mean the eye is closer to the text.
Boox is the only company that is tempting me to buy something other than kindle. If money wasn't a barrier... No contest. If I didn't already have an Oasis... Id buy a Nova for sure.
@@wasimjasin5485 I read that the color version has a different screen panel and hence the black and white indoor performance is not good without light. Indoor reading in black and white needs light
Good review and very useful information. I suppose for me the Note 3 is more attractive. The only real worry is the things I read about failing or even expanding batteries (!!!) and difficulty getting them replaced via Boox. Why can't tablets and laptops have easy battery replacement like phones......
There is any way to add hyperlinks to each note. Or the only way it's to build a PDF with links between pages and then work with this in the onyx device?
No, I don't plan on reviewing the Note Air2 because nothing worthwhile really changed. With Onyx it's gotten to the point where it just feels like reviewing the same devices over and over again.
It doesn't feel smaller though because it's a lot wider and heavier in your hand. I thought I would like the new design better but the old design is more comfortable to hold. If they made the Note Air with a Mobius screen it would be a lot nicer. Knowing Onyx they'll probably release the Note Air 2 in a few months that will be lighter and more refined.
@@TheeBookReader Really!!! That is really bad. It is not useful for users and for onyx just keep releasing new devices. That means either too close to previous one and no need to buy (this will affect company) or too advanced and buyer of old versions which are less than one year ago released will regret buying from such company.
Indeed the background does appear a bit whiter, whereas the Note has a bit of a yellower tone. It's probably because of differences with the cover lens.
what a bad review... The note 3 has ufs2.1 storage and it is 4 times faster than the emmc on note 2/air the writing latency is lower on note 3/air the browser works in a2 mode and it adds contrast only to the letters so you don't have to refresh everytime you scroll. it is not a bug lol..
If it makes you feel better to believe Onyx's marketing BS then go right on ahead. The fact is there's virtually no performance difference whatsoever when it comes to 99% of reading and writing tasks. When you're dealing with a screen technology that's limited to like 8 frames per second minor spec upgrades mean next to nothing. Writing latency it still lower on the Remarkable and it has way worse specs, and Kindles with single core processors still open books and refresh pages faster.
@@TheeBookReader Note3 do copy files with twice the speed compared to the Air, this becomes notable when writing/reading large amounts of data (to/from PC). However, I guess thats a non-frequent operation for most ppl. Otherwise no performance differences worth mentioning.
