this also serves as an incredibly informative in-depth tutorial. although the purpose of the video was a review -of sorts-, i learned a lot more than i knew.
I find the size of this device perfect. Very light and this encourages me to carry it around at all times. I hope they keep developing it. I also really like how it's possible to write very finely on the device. This is perfect for fitting lots of notes on a page or marking up documents.
A major limiting feature with the native notes app is not having endless pages like for eg apple notes and onenote. Having to create new notes pages when not required is just silly and I hope they can correct it.
Endless pages are enabled by pressing the button that looks like three vertical rectangles with the numeral 1 inside. If you look at the video at 13:00 you will see it as the icon above the selected icon in the left-hand menu.
Thank you for your report on it! I have learnt a few tipps that I haven't known yet! I got the Note Air case, which if you had to buy it is far too expensive at the retail price, but it has certainly grown on me. It has a nice feel to it, is unobtrusive and offers some sort of protection, but most importantly it provides the necessary grip to the device, both in your hands and on a table.
Fantastic - I learnt a lot! I'm just 1 day into ownership but am - mostly - liking what I'm seeing so far. Just 1 question for you if I may: How did you get your keyboard to appear such that you could use the digital keypad OR just enter text by writing? Funnily enough, I was looking to do exactly what you did on the video earlier today and rename a note. I was disappointed with how slow the popup keyboard was and would have liked an ability to enter text through the pen. I've had a look in settings but can't find it - when I'm in input mode, I just see a keyboard :-(
many thanks for the detailed review. maybe it is time for me to move from remarkable to onyx. I just hope that onyx realizes that a 10" colored screen notebook will be a great idea.
Hi @EVERYTHING cpo At 4:25 you use the stylus to write an input and it converts it to text - Brilliant, but where is this setting? Because mine only gives me a qwerty type keyboard and I've gone through every setting box I can find!
Hi. After handwriting recognition, is it possible to export the note in editable format? (TXT for instance)...for furhter processing the notes in a word processor and so on.
I noticed that you avoid resting your palm on the screen while writing. Is the glass fragile or palm rejection an issue while writing. Is the screen made of gorilla glass like smartphones and iPad ?
wow, interesting review, did you think the Note-taking over this type of device is mature right now to replace the paper and pen method, I seriously considering buy this device.
Excellent review! Just wondering how good is this for reading library books? I was considering Kobo devices because they have the Overdrive integration
Hello, thanks for an informative video. I am thinking of buying note air soon. what are your thoughts on buying an android 10 device when android 11 is available in note air 2? Note air is currently offered on discount at good price so seems like a good option. Like if we ignore everything else, does a newer version of android on a device is able to justify a higher price?
How are you liking the device now in 2021? Has the experience and performance been consistent? Do you still use it? Do you still like it? Are you looking for a replacement? if so what are you looking at?
The X with the dots in the search reminds me of a pigpen cypher. It's a simple way of encoding text. Some people write their diaries with it. I wonder if that's what that is refering to. Perhaps you can search in pigpen? That'd be pretty niche though.
Greetings. What I want most to know is can this convert a page of handwritten text like your list that fills the page. I saw you convert one words, but could you convert that entire page? Thanks.
What about syncing to other platforms, like Windows/Mac? Or, pushing documents between those platforms? And, can it run Evernote? Or, push its documents into Evernote?
Hello THank you for this review. Here is a question I cannot find the answere for. On your page with the 32 points you have notices, if you want to add 3 new points BETWEEN your current point 10 et 11, is it possible ??? Thank you very much for your answere.
Wow really good! Use lasso tool to instantly zoom out to 100%. Another + Battery life...esp compared to RM1 Way better cust support than RM. Another - Boot up time Crappy cover No "email page"
Hello, It is possible to record the screen while writing to for example create tutorials or there is a way to connect it to the PC and see the screen on the computer in order to make the recording from the PC
One more question. Have you find a way to copy text from book (pdf, other formats like epub etc.) and paste the copied text to the note? Especially in the split screen mode?
Yes. You can copy text and paste it into the text input on a note. I just tested to verify. I copied some text from a book on the Amazon Kindle app, and pasted it into a note. :-)
@@EVERYTHINGcpo Actually works! Thanks a lot. Onyx Boox Air is a very nice device, but some UX aspects are not very well thought out or another words they are not intuitive.
Thank you for sharing with us your thoughts. I have two questions: 1) Did you try writing with Staedtler Noris Digital Jumbo? 2) Is it possible to keep the notes in a folder syncing with the Dropbox account?
I have not tried the Noris pen... but I will say I recently got a different pen (Samsung) and it is a much improved experience. That factory pen is pretty horrible on on the glass. As for 2... not natively, but you could use "Autosync for Dropbox" app and have it sync the notes folder (assuming you checked the box to automatically create a pdf of all of your notebooks when closing (in the settings).
AMAZING vídeo. Thank you. But a few questions: is it waterproof? Can you make a PowerPoint presentation in It? Can you type normaly in a word document, format (like "arial - 12") and then send it to a email? Thank you.
Let me guess: you are an old fashioned corporate guy who likes to stick with Arial font, rich enough to do corporate presentations while scuba diving?🤔
Note 3 is on it's way to me now. How is your experience with it so far? Any tweaks or advises? Did you put the screen protector on? Did you change the pen?
@Bryce Gresl haha 😂 This ain‘t gonna work on me !! Anyone sees this, have to know that it is a scam. I studied IT and now working on Web Security Department!!
The service is Horrible! I've had the Note Air for a couple weeks now and the pen has proven to be very cheap. Not only does it lag but there is a lot of movement at the tip making it hard to write with. After having it for around three day the movement got worse, so I e-mailed customer service (because you cannot call them.) The customer service rep. finally replied asking if I could send a video depicting the problem, so I did. In fact, I ended up sending three videos over the course of a week. After spending much more time than I should have on it I got a final reply basically saying there's nothing she could do. Firstly, it is quite difficult to get across this looseness on video as it is a tactile thing. Secondly, the problem was getting worse. IT WAS BROKEN not on the outside but on the inside, which is nothing I did. If the problem wasn't such a big deal then why would I waste my time on it. So, why would they waste their time on a product that probably cost them pennies to make (according to many on UA-cam and even on their website) It is having many problems. Here's why. Lots of people are just being the pro, so they are wanting me to do the same, but I paid for a product that came with a pen; why would I buy one that is just as crappy? Also, I tried to return the whole device as it did many glitches as well as the pen was broken with no avail. I look on the web and found policies. shop.boox.com/pages/warranty and shop.boox.com/pages/return On the first two lines where they say, 'one year warranty' Notice the term (warranty service) Guys DONNOT buy from them use any other pen there are many that will work there are UA-cam videos showing how they work and work well with BOOX products.
Totally what I was thinking. The video might have been informative but I'll never know since I've got no patience for that many ads. Reading through the comments I was beginning to think there was something weird about my experience. Thanks for validating me lol.

How do you back up your notes offline? I do not see the SQL database anywhere.
I'm just wondering if there is a way (or maybe a 3rd party app) on this device to recognize handwritten maths symbols?

Can you sync that calendar app with something like google calendar or outlook calendar?
Could you make a new review with firmware v3.2?
@EVERYTHINGcpo : How well does the AI recognition of hand-writing, and the search inside hand-written notes, works with languages other than English?
Thank you for the review which is the best. Does Boox Note Air have google drive support?
Dose Notion work on it?
Very informative. One thing you covered I am still confused about is the backup and restore function. How does that work?

if you drag the page change icons to the screen they stay there and moving from page to page is easy ...
I’ll wait for the next generation. The Remarkable, despite its shortage of capabilities, has the perfect hardware, and serves my needs right now.

Today I found out that there's an asstricked symbol.
It's quite backwards for that device to have a glassfront and backlight and misses the point: being a productivity/thinking platform to replace paper.
Just change the Pen and use a Screen protecter
