@@coffeeeater I still feel great about the product, 100%. However, they just changed their structure to a subscription model. I'm grandfathered it, I'll never have to pay, but if I had to pay $8 a month for the cloud stuff, I wouldn't get it.
Don't get me wrong, I really love the device, it's way beyond anything out there. It really really feels like writing on paper, the battery lasts forever, and so on. I just refuse to subscribe to any model where I have to pay monthly for something.
I use it to prepare all my classes, take notes, fill out pdf forms, even read books.

@@colourful2099 - I ended up with the Remarkable 2. I tried the A5X, but the writing "feel" wasn't as good, and ultimately that is what made the difference for me. My use case: I primarily wanted a "digital notebook". I didn't need an e-reader (I use Kindle) or additional features (also have iPad). I really just wanted the best feeling digital notebook experience. As JB mentions, the final choice comes down to your unique use-case. For me, a distraction-free digital notebook, and RM2 does this very well.

Out of the Papyr, reMarkable 2, and SuperNote A6X, writing on the SuperNote is definitely the most precise in feel (when using the default stylus for each device). With the narrow, hard nib and that innovative screen protector of theirs, they nailed the pen-like feel. That alone makes it my favorite to write on.

I'm deciding between the Remarkable 2 and Supernote A5X but am worried about tossing them in a backpack. The Remarkable 2 looks sleek with the leather book folio, but is the book folio enough to protect the tablet in a backpack with a laptop, books, and other things? On my Note Air I use SAMSUNG S PEN TAB S6 LITE for stylus and I've slapped on some screen protector called "ESR Paper-Feel Screen Protector for iPad Pro 12.9 2021", which is essentially what was recommended on another channel (My Deep Guide). It works super well and really gives it a very convincing paper feel when writing.
I think the most important factor is the stylus though, and it should be easy to find (it also happens to be magnetic, so you can attach it to the side like the standard pen). Even with the standard Note Air screen protector it feels really good, but I couldn't handle all the air bubbles. The aforementioned stylus comes with two nips, a soft black and harder white one. If you don't roll with a screen protector, you can use the black nips and it's decent, but if you put on a paperlike screen protector and swap to the harder white nip, it's practically perfect :)

As I use the light very often(minimum level could be darker if someone sleeps next to you but it's ok) there are no alternatives for me.
Some small bug's are still there but not minor.
I use it primarily for all kind of note taking and for reading pdf.

I just want a device to replace my pens, notebooks and books. Nothing more. For anything like running heavy programs, or surfing the web I have my laptop...
    - The Remarkable2 is beautiful and apparently a really good writer but I feel It wouldn't replace my books.
-The Note Air to me completely misses the simplicity that made me consider this paper replacement. It makes me wonder if I didn't care about the paper feel and wanted all of those features without the messy android interface why not just get a normal Ipad ($329) with a rough screen protector?
    - The Supernote A5x seems like the perfect balance. On top of that not only do they listen to their customers but their pen doesn't wear out. I don't see myself ordering pen tips periodically just so that I can write. To me that misses the point of one replacement for my pens, notebooks and books.
I just wish I could pay less for less features... This is the only thing that seems a bit counter intuitive with the Remarkable 2 and the Supernote A5x... The Boox devices are still in my mind...

For me, the reMarkable2 replaces my notebooks and it's what you described, a device to replace pens and notebooks. Nothing more. BUT, I don't know what it's like on mine for reading, I read on my Kindle PaperWhite with no plans to read on my reMarkable2. That said, I am or was, an avid paper writer, note-taker, journal book entry person. And aside from a grocery list, I haven't touched paper since the rM2 arrived. Pricy little tool, but I love it. Last night I used it for an online course to study on and I just freaking LOVE my reMarkable2. The cover though, I made my own. Their prices are insane (to me), for covers so I just made my own. Anyway, if you just want a no-frills, this is an excellent device. No noise. No clutter. Just quiet creating. Hope you find what you need. Cheers!

For my hubby say, I'd likely buy him a Boox Note Air - just so he can transfer his maps and writing easily and read gaming PDFs. @@JuanMedina95 Very cool. Sounds like yo have a good idea of what you want then and that's wonderful. Also a thing to consider is pens. With some devices we can use many different no-charge needed pens and others we can't. For me (and I get it if others don't feel this way), but for me, I have to have a charge-free pen. It's a deal breaker for me as I don't want to have to charge a pen, ever. Plus, oh my gosh, I love buying new pens. I'm eying three other German pens now and I currently have the Noris Digital Jumbo and LOVE it! For the reMarkable2, I went with the gray pen, I just like it better than the black marker. But with the black, at least theirs an eraser but 100 bucks for a pen. Much like the covers, I can't bring myself to spend that. Anyway, this is a long comment, I just love the writing on e-ink. I think you covered too many devices here. You should have stuck with the two you focused on only and it sounds like you played with those two more than the others and for this reason probably prefer them. I've got my eye on the Remarkable 2 and that one did not get coverage at all. It has one of the best writing experiences, layers, you tilt the pen and you can shade which is the only device that does this on the market. two colours, A5 has three. The spec of Remarkable could be better though when compared to other devices. Stuff like 6.4 GB usable storage is not enough - definitely not for the price. Onyx have a colour ebook but that's not as good as these devices in my opinion.
I am going to wait. I want the Remarkable two with better support (its not just the device that's important). Remarkable 2 looks the most slick out of all of them. The backlit display on devices is a killer for me. Even on the Kindle Amazon spent years developing it so the light did not hit the retina but the whole point of using EBOOK technology is it is easier on the eyes. So many people dismiss this. Walk into a store and they will say use your ipad. They're totally different and a backlit display sort of defeats the purpose of using e-ink technology in my opinion. Also, I used my ipad with a stylus and it works but the experience is not great. It doesn't feel right writing on glass and the tip is too noisy and I would disturb others. The Remarkable even sounds like a pencil when you write on it. Do they all have this feature. No idea. I am putting a comparison together for things like storage, features, support from vendor, DPI, etc.
    My wish list:
Colour display (Onyx do it but its not that good yet)
    Mini sd for more storage
Better PPI. Kindle Paperwhite is old not and is doing 300 PPI. These are doing 226. Why so low? I read techy books so this is important and why only one or two shades of gray. Why not 16+
A stylus with tips that do not need to be replaced so the plastic tips appeals to me
I want a fabulous ebook reader and not just note pad as well. Why does no one cover the ebook side? If I want a notepad only, I can use paper and a pencil
    Ability to spell/ grammar check
Convert my writing to text properly. OCR is old technology
Ability to search on key words and that means for all notes and not just titles. A lot of these devices cant do this
I want the option to read my ebook. Similar to the 1st gen Kindles before they removed it
I don't want unhealthy bluetooth built. I don't use wireles head sets for for health reasons. Nothing wrong with cables
I don't need it to be waterproof. Mobile phone companies take note. Unbreakable yes. Waterproof, who cares! i am not going to use it in the rain or when i go diving
Good battery life. How do they compare?
    Speedy charge time
    Good price
    Good vendor support.
Needs to be light and slick looking. Remarkable 2 is by far the best looking device here and I also think it is the thinnest on the market
Ability to lock the device and ideally individual sections/ notes like OneNote
Maybe to sync with One Note as well?
Ability to use the app on your desktop and sync with the device wirelessely.
Ability to zoom in using pinch which Remarkable provide with an update. Do they all have this?
Ill take a look at your Remarkable 2 review now...
Remarkable is a small company but I personally think they will surpass all these other e-ink tech devices in the next few years if they focus more on support. They are the most slick when it comes to design and their software is excellent is what I have heard but their app has not changed from Remarkable 1. That's a shame but I am sure they will get there.

There is a left-hander mode in the Note which is ok but could be better (I have the Note 3). The problem I have is more pronounced when I'm writing while holding it and it wouldn't be a problem if the tablet is resting on a table: the "maximise page" button in notepad (and when the note is already maximised, the "menu button") is on the top left corner and can't be moved which becomes a problem when I start a new note because I tend to write "upside down" (i.e. with my wrist bent and over the writing) so my wrist can rest on something while writing... but when the tablet is on a table I can write "normally" so my wrist doesn't need to rest on the tablet and thus not touching those buttons by mistake. It's not really a big deal though and I appreciate Boox having that mode. I have never tried any of the others because a simple note taker doesn't meet my needs.

Hey JB, after doing some further research, I'm now leaning towards the SuperNote. Now, I'm just not sure about which device size to choose. Based on my needs in my previous comments, which would be the better option in your opinion the A5X or A6X? A6X sounds good for portability for sales meetings, calls, etc... but I'm just unsure if it would be on the small size. Your recommendation would be appreciated since I can't get my hands on them to decide for myself. Thank you for your help.

None of these products' videos show how well you can write printed or cursive text about the size you showed the typed text (say about 12 point max) with a ballpoint-equivalent thin line. They all assume you want big fat lines and only do sketches and such. Have I missed something?

Which one has a longer battery life? As I’m mainly looking for a large screen, with long battery life, and Arabic text friendly for PDFs in Arabic, could you recommend one?

Hi JB: We are thoroughly confused as to what to recommend to our medical device operators. We are mostly concerned with health effects since many of us have Lyme Disease which makes us sensitive to EMF fields from a chewed up nervous system. Staring at computer monitors is also horrible for us. We need a device that:
    1) Eink with no backlight. I loved the Sony PRS 650 for reading. Can the light feature be disabled on these new devices? I'm a bit concerned you are saying R2 is bad for reading (we were leaning toward that). All our reading files are Epub and PDFs. Do you just mean the software is bad or the healthiness of reading is bad, something else? We don't care about Kindle software.
    2) WIFI needs to be able to be disabled fully. We absolutely cannot use wireless for health reasons. Is the R2 the only device that can connect to the internet via the computer usb interface? This is very important. I'm not 100% sure R2 can do this? Can they all do this?
    3) Functionally we have to take a medical report pdf from a USB drive (which is used to download the report from the medical device) and mark it up with notes. Than email the report to the patient. The quicker this flows the better.
    4) We all take a ton of notes from medical research pdfs. The PRS 650 was horrible at this type of thing.
    5) Been eyeing that thinkpad from your other video. Any idea if you use the Eink part with the main power off to read a book or something? Or do you have to have the main processor involved? Anyways less power is better, so PRS 650 etchasketch style with more functions is what we are looking for.
What do you recommend? Thanks for your help! Great channel!!

The RM2 is OK as a reader it works just not as good as some other devices. Let me get a video together for your other questions. Thanks so much for asking.

@@morningcoach Thanks! Much appreciated! I think I've watched 3 days of content of you and My Deep Guide. More unsure than ever now. If only we had an unlimited budget to buy all of them. lol I guess A5X can edit Word Documents not just note them up? Is that the only one with word processor capability? Maybe add that to the video? The patients would love to be able to do email, write/type, note take, and read, all via a non-wireless connection on an Eink display. Eink really is a game changer for our community. Seems like we are almost there with these new devices!
