It's just more focalized on writing experience. I've bought a Boox because I primary use it to read off manuals but I still consider remarkable for the future as a paper replacement
I think its a more niche product for sure. I bought it because I'm a stem student with many notebooks of notes and scratch work. The reason I chose it over everything else is because of the battery life so I accept the devices limitations as I understand that they are in place to maximize its specialty.
Can you say something about the following points: 1. Battery usage (life time, loading time, usage time) 2. weight and grip 3. writing surface 4. using the onyx without backlight (reading quality) 5. are there differend highlighter colors with onyx (as - virtually - with remarkable)? Thanks!
To those wondering about the whole return policy and how long it will take to get your money back, it took me exactly 30 days from the day the item was received at their facilities. I live in Australasia. Very credible company. And if the item wasn't so niche I would have kept it. The technology is phenomenal! And I would rank the brand up there with Apple in terms of service presentation and being environmentally conscious.
Disappointed with the review. In reality the one deciding factor that could possibly sway a decision to purchase the RM2 over the Air was overlooked. The whole writing element was fast forwarded and confined to a few seconds at the end of the video. Please provide a proper demonstration of both of the tablets writing capabilities side by side so that those who wish to purchase the highest quality writing and sketching tool can make an informed decision. I appreciate the upload but this did not tell us anything that we did not already know. Can the Air search written notes? Is the RM2 writing experience superior or not? (With clear video evidence)
I don’t think the majority of people are buying tablets to do primarily writing. Just do it on paper, I’m more interested in the features of the actual device
@@revl6151 Uhm - but THIS is exactly the most important point of the remarkable: It does NOT want to be a tablet - it wants to be a digital version of paper - real ePaper. If you ignore the main purpose of a product... why bothering at all? Why being interested in remarkable? And why suggest people exactly the opposite of what they want and why they are being interested in the remarkable? Being interested in remarkable means being interested in finding a digital alternativ to paper. How can someone be so ignorant to tell the people exactly not taking the one function a product is about without any reason?
I just received my remarkable2 yesterday and am so frustrated with it already I had put in the return request. No matter how good it feels to write on it, it’s just impossible for me to utilize it because how bad it is to read! The table of content is so bad it drives me nuts! If you want to take notes on PDF slides it’ll be impossible to navigate if it’s a big document with more pages. Also PDFed books obviously becomes very small so it ends up straining my eyes anyways.. zoom is a joke. Impossible to use. I can tolerate the small fonts while reading, but I cannot tolerate having no way of navigating to the page I want to read. There’s no point of paying that much money for a note pad that’s harder to find things than on paper. Lol I found myself watching more reviews this morning and left a few messages under these videos, I don’t usually do this, I guess I am REALLY frustrated with remarkable2. I waited 5 month for it since the Pre-order, imagine my disappointment!!!
I will say that this video is outdated, but it has been 3 years. I feel like something you forgot to mention is that the remarkable battery does last 1-2weeks, and the Onyx only one day. The image is also crisper on the remarkable. Sure if you want a full working android tablet (if you don’t already have one) get the onyx. But if you want a tablet meant for note taking and drawing, the remarkable is just far more convenient, just for the battery life alone. And now text has been included with a full on keyboard.
Is the black also blackier (I.e., is the contrast better)? If so, is the contrast still better with the lights on? I feel like the contrast improved a lot on my kindle when the lights are on, even in the lowest seeing.
@@hunterhenryk In the no light scenario the rM2 should be better because there is no additional layer for the light that steals a minimum when switched off. But if you take all scenarios into account, the Air should be better and even adjustable.
Just found a comment from him Goodereader vor 1 Stunde they are both running glass so they are fairly identical. the days of comparing glass vs non-glass seem to be behind us. Almost no one uses non-glass screens anymore. if you want the real answer, look for the comment from "Luiz Silva"
I pre-ordered RM2 (batch 7) and I'm trying to understand if it fits my needs or I should switch to onyx note air. this review however looks to me a bit unfair (and therefore useless) as it does not expressly take into account the peculiar aspect of the RM2 (hand writing) whilst it considers bell and whistles that nothing has to share with note taking. to the same extent, it would be unfair (if not correctly carried on) a comparison between note air and iPad pro...
my advice : if you can, then you should wait (until november) for your rm2. it’s the best note taker in the market. it’s going to be totally worth it so hang in there :)
On the iPad Pro I have tried every note taking app there is, and most fail due delays in software between samples of pen location making the writing look totally off compared to paper. Just shut your eyes and write in the app and on paper and compare them, that part has nothing to do with screen latency. Then screen latency is added ontop and makes the visual feedback loop a bit annoying. If both these types of delays are dealt with combined with precision of pen location, then you will have a great writing experience. Additionally distance between image and surface creates a parallax error, contrast and light source/reflection, hardness of surface and sound and feel between pen and surface... Writing on iPad glass is not ideal in any way, but the Apple pencil in itself is near perfect. Paperlike screen protector helps somewhat. I will keep using my iPad Pro 2017 and 2020, a lot! They are more important to me than all my other desktop or laptop computers... AND I wait eagerly to recieve my rM2 which should arrive within the next few weeks...
Boox Air looks promising, but this "comparison" is a farce. Remarkable is fully focused on paperlike writing experience, and you "forgot" about it. Shame
So the Onyx tries to mimic a tablet and the RM2 tries to mimic paper, well if i wanted a tablet i would rather buy a proper one. I will go for the RM2 then.
I had them both and the onyx boox note air is a complete nightmare compared to the remarkable. Alright, you got the backlight function, which is really good when reading at bad light conditions, but you can simply use a lamp combined with the remarkable and avoid the stress with the stupid software that the note air is coming with. The remarkable works in so many software aspect excellent, on the other hand, you get lots of nice hardware with the note air but it does not help when working... I can't imagine the note air having passed some tests before rollout... And it's completely overpriced
weird that you completely ignore the obviously lower drawing latency with the remarkable. and then you speed up the drawing test so it’s difficult for the viewer to see
These videos are so frustrating, because none of them go into what I care about: drawing on them. I own a rEmarkable 1, and as much as I like it, my main frustration is the extremely frustratingly limited painting/sketching abilities for shading, using grayscales (you have to fake grayscale with the highlighter... which only has one level and one width!), etc. What I want to know is - can you run something REAL on the Boox thing, like e.g. photoshop touch, autodesk sketchbook, or any real drawing program with proper sketching power, different brushes, paper simulations, watercolor sims.... etc??
I think this review is not fair. The number one thing you did not mention is that Remarkable is bare boned for a reason. Its a product that was built to give no distractions. Thats why it doesnt have a web browser. Its simple for note taking, writing, and reading. Period. This was a poor analysis from that stand point.
strange... you say it like onyx is better but what I learned here is that remarkable is better (in doing what it was meant to do) with exception of browser (hope it will be added later), data transfer and lack of modifying aspect ratio of shapes...
8:14 Why so much talking about layers? if you have any onyx device you can download any app on play store that uses layers. Is not Remarkable exclusive & patented invention ...
This product seems tailor-made for classroom use...with the advancement and proliferation of technology in our society, more and more grade school classrooms are switching to laptops or tablets. Of course this is a net positive for limiting the use of natural resources, but one downside to this change would be the decline in students' handwriting skills. Additionally, since the introduction of common core standards back in 2010 schools are no longer required to teach cursive handwriting, and only about two dozen states have passed legislation to reintroduce the style of handwriting used by the Founding Fathers to write the Constitution & the Declaration of Independence.(Imagine an entire generation of American citizens who were unable to read the Constitution...) I would love to see the company who makes these tablets land a contract with the federal government to supply these tablets to classrooms across the country.
I’ve been shopping for a tablet like this for sometime and I see the value in the ones that offer more services for the price point. The thing I really like about the remarkable 2 is the pen to paper feel experience and believe it or not the fact that there are no other apps. It is meant to simply replace a notepad and I kind of like that because it’s mindful when there are other apps involved it’s very tempting to take your focus away from what you’re doing. Part of me feels like that’s worth the money but then another part of me feels like I’m not getting as much for my dollar. This is why I haven’t gotten anything yet.
But think of it this way, are you really gonna be using social media and apps like that on this screen to be distracted like that? I think the screen and how it behaves is a big deterrent for getting distracted like that and you can download other apps that you can use to take full advantage of that, the part where they leave that out and say it's for focus just feels like a cover up for their short coming
I think that’s everyone’s dilemma. I played with a remarkable recently at Best Buy and really enjoyed it. 2 weeks later I bought the remarkable, I’m like 3 days in and love it, and even though they’ve added a lot of features that weren’t available at the time of review, pretty old videos now. Despite the additional features I still have a hard time justifying the price. $500 out the door is what I paid for an iPad Pro that I love and worth every penny. But with the remarkable, I’m both missing features and money… Sad to say, I’ll be returning the remarkable
I can't believe the one thing that literally everybody is asking for is writing feel on the onyx glass surface in comparison to remarkable surface. It's like you're deliberately not mentioning this on both note air reviews
Also why are speeding the footage of you writing on both devices. This is the part where we check latency. Peter you should check other reviews about eink and learn what matters in these devices.
You know, I thought it was weird that they started the video by insisting on their impartiality. I wonder if reviewers want to have access to future Onyx devices because Onyx puts out so many-thus, more content. If so, rM is at a disadvantage with these folks, as rM does not rotate through models all of the time. Or, maybe it’s something el$e.
As an "overall" device the Onyx Boox Note Air makes way more sense. But there's something about the reMarkable that makes it more appealing to me as a specialized device meant for a specific purpose without distractions.
It truly makes a huge difference when you think man I should change to my email and check it but you can't. Keeps you focused. The drawing ability on remarkable is amazing I have to have tilt
I started to think about this too. I am in the market right now and the moment it was mentioned the Onyx Air running Android (basically) I was like, wait! I thought the point was to get away from notifications and these apps! I feel like this would (having Android) keep me from buying an eInk device. The point was to get away from android and distractions not buy more devices with distractions. This video has made me feel that Remarkable is the better option..
Straight feature comparison? Sure. Note Air wins. But the rM2 isn't trying to be an all-encompassing tablet like the Note Air. So it's a little of an unfair comparison due to different use cases. I will say - this seems like an obvious biased video since you sell the Note Air but not the rM on your store. You're stoking this fire of giving a comparison on a surface level and not doing what people really want: comparing the note taking features and feel.
That’s right. Part of it might be that Goodereader doesn’t like that they cannot sell the reMarkable yet. That sped-up writing at the end was surprisingly shady.
I don’t think this is biased at all, wish this video was out when I bought the remarkable2. Just gonna copy my comment to other ppl: I just received my remarkable2 yesterday and am so frustrated with it already I had put in the return request. No matter how good it feels to write on it, it’s just impossible for me to utilize it because how bad it is to read! The table of content is so bad it drives me nuts! I use both , feelings when you write on reMakable is a lot more better for that reason alone reMakable win for me i just need to on paper carry a lot document I can do anything else boox do on ipad
I don’t want to watch videos, listen to music or read emails my notebook. That’s what my iPad is for. I want to know what the writing experience is like.
@@greenboarder89 It's s a very different experience and purpose. The intent of the Rm2 is to provide you with a possibility to take notes and work with your thoughs. That is why they do not put any distractions but focus on things like battery longevity (last 1 week when used), writing experience, thin product. The fondamental purpose of an ipad and Rm are different. With the ipad you write on glass it is not as nice but the initial purpose of an ipad is not to enable you to be with your thoughts or take notes. Rm is not for you if you want a device to do many different things.
In the PDF, the RM2 looks like it has deeper blacks and whiter whites. Is that just due to the settings on the Boox Note Air? Or an artifact of the camera? To be honest, the RM2 looks so much clearer and better than the Note Air.
I have an onyx nova 2 and the contrast does not make a deeper Black. It only helps to visualize a better image. I have this same feel that remarkable 2 has a deeper black and best white screen . I feel the light on my onyx is useful but not essential.
How does the air feel?????? This seems to be a major question that many users have (as well as myself). All the bells and whistles aren't worth much to me if it doesn't feel good to write on.
Just found a comment from him Goodereader vor 1 Stunde they are both running glass so they are fairly identical. the days of comparing glass vs non-glass seem to be behind us. Almost no one uses non-glass screens anymore. if you want the real answer, look for the comment from "Luiz Silva"
Feels good to write on, screen is "grippy" and the new pen has a hard nib. New pen maybe too hard for my liking, swapped it out for a tab s3 pen with hard nib, like that combo better. Air pen feels great on my max3 tho 👍
I was really hoping that around 11:00 you would have shown the note taking in real time. My biggest question was about the response of the tablet with the writing. :(
This was not a balanced comparison. Definitely was not impartial. He barely even covered the Remarkable 2 and pretty much lied to us in the beginning about being an impartial review from the start. Super suspicious this guy.
Little pissed at the review. I almost made a decision based on it. Your comparison implies that the Onyx has similar functionality as the Remarkable. In fact it never mentions the key point of the Remarkable or that the Onyx lacks it. The Onyx is just writing on glass. I have a surface, and other devices with active stylus pens to write on, that blow the Onyx out of the water. Those devices are simply writing on glass, we would I need an Onyx, if I was ok writing on glass? The Remarkable is trying to give a feeling of writing on paper. I have different tools for different needs. Either you are a dishonest person or a lousy reviewer; you will have to decide which one you are.
This review is a biased disgrace , sadly I went by this review and purchased Onyx only to compare it's against my brother's remarkable 2 which is far superior for note taking and sketching ... Which is perhaps the primary reason for purchasing these types of devices ....
Having seen (and read) many reviews of the reMarkable2, I bought one. Like anyone who's ever tried it, I was blown away by the writing experience, but I quickly began to have doubts. While the hardware is beautiful, the software felt very lacking, and, as I dug around online, I soon realised that the company has not kept up with the competition in that area. Furthermore they did not seem very willing to engage with customers or open up any kind of roadmap on future developments. I decided, therefore, to try out the Box Note Air and make a decision thereafter on how to proceed. Long story short, he Note Air has been everything I'd hoped for and then some. I had grave concerns that comparing it directly with the reMarkable 2 would leave me disappointed (to the point where I might actually consider keeping both devices). The stylus that comes with the Air is far from the best so I tested with both reMarkable and Lamy pens and have been delighted with the results. The Air doesn't provide tilt functionality for the stylus but that doesn't matter to me. The writing experience on the RM2 is only marginally better, and certainly not noticeable on a day-to-day basis. Given everything else that the Boox software brings to the table the decision was a trivial one. I know it's been a long time since this video was posted, but I discovered it - and its legion of comments - just last week while deciding whether to try the Note Air. Thanks to My Deep Guide I did just that, and will be forever grateful. I hope that the reMarkable team listens closely and addresses the concerns of the money-paying community because they provide an incredible device withe immensely underpowered software. In the meantime I'll keep scribbling away on my Box Note Air with a big smile on my face.
Thank you for your detailed comments. I just got my Remarkable 2 this week and so far it's ok. However, I just ordered the boox note air and can't wait to compare the two.
I recently lost my beloved Onyx Poke 3 reader and want to replace it with something I can also use for journalling. This was a very helpful comment. Thank you!
Hi, morning! I'm really unsure between the RM2 and the note airc 3 C. My idea is to replace my college notebooks. I need to read and write it in PDF and attach some photos that I take of the whiteboard. I don't know if the NA3C has the same feeling of writing on paper that the RM2 has. What would you advise me?
@@marcelomonteirocarvalho5137 The newer Note Airs - the 2 and the 3 - have a great writing feel, at least as good as the RM2 in my experience. With the Airs you also get a lot of functionality and extensibility with apps.
This “review” is ridiculous. Actually you have done this before: with the Dasung external monitor and the Onyx Max. And actually the external monitor feature of the Onyx was utter rubbish.
Does anyone that has RM2 or Onyx, how does it work when writing? When I write on paper, I tend to rest the palm on the paper itself. Would this interfere in the e-ink devices?? It's something I've always wondered. In the video, it seems Peter writes without touching with the palm, of course. Only with the pen. Would appreciate your insights. Thanks.
Hi, couple questions: - What's the erasing function like on the Onyx over the reMarkable? - How does the response speed of the screens during writing and drawing compare? - How does the writing feeling of both devices compare?
About for first question: I've already watched other reviews: As always, the standard pen does not feature an eraser on the back, on both devices. If you preordered the rM2 with the discount, where you got the $100 pencil for free, THAT does have an eraser on the back. The expensive pencil with an eraser from boox costs "only" $60 in comparison. If you question was about the performance of erasing... I guess it's the same, but maybe you should look through other reviews yourself to confirm if it suits your expectation. About the feel: Just found a comment from him Goodereader vor 1 Stunde they are both running glass so they are fairly identical. the days of comparing glass vs non-glass seem to be behind us. Almost no one uses non-glass screens anymore. if you want the real answer, look for the comment from "Luiz Silva"
Sadly the feel is a taste and you have to try them out. So even if one wins in a review maybe you wont like it at all. Due to environmental reason's and some others I cancelled my rM2. I know allready I would send it back even if it feels superb. You also can not compare them because the glass surface is different and also the nibs are different. You need to cross test it at least. For example, I'am thinking of getting the rM2 pro pen for my Air.
@@SashiroKun He isn't really selling both. He may have both listed, but he doesn't have any Remarkable 2s. If you order a Remarkable 2, it is not available until February 2021 and it is way more expensive then going to the Remarkable website. My guess, if someone did buy from him, he would buy from the Remarkable store and ship it, when he got it, for a nice markup. Looking at his site, it would be $300 more than what I paid for mine, to order form him. Now I am guessing about how he gets his, but it would be $300, more than what I paid for mine, including shipping.
The thing Remarkable is focusing on the most is the writing feel. They are very explicit about it. Why don't you compare that in your impartial comparison?
Absolutely! That's like comparing a Tour de France race bike with some cheap Mountainbike and then saying "O k , - this is better because it offers the possibility to do some offroad.... " Don't get me wrong, I do love my Onyx Note, but we still did not have any information about WRITING EXPERIENCE NOW!
Yeah! I wonder why they are voluntarily not reviewing and comparing the writing feel or experience. Since they are the only ones in posession of a Note Air... maybe Onyx gave them that explicit restriction? I mean come on, they even fast forwarded all writing examples in their last "review". Anyway, what a waste of an opportunity! I do want to know if that shock in the mountain bike is comfortable enough to be worth it or if I should keep my road bike for commuting. This not so impartial review makes me kind of angry
The writing feel is not a great difference, but the rest of the device ... yes. And that is not an excuse for that price ... If you only care about writing or you use a paper or a h10l LCD Writing Tablet ...
@@Maisonier it is for some of us unfortunately my friend. I feel miserable writing on a glassy Galaxy Note surface, but also having a pile of paper notebooks ain't fun either
Guys, you're missing the point. You're comparing a feature intensive device with a device built just for a single purpose: to perfectly replicate the feeling of writing on paper. You didn't compare this aspect at all. Onyx has a glass screen whole the remarkable works with a flexible display, which should mean that right out the gate, the writing experience with the two should be vastly different. Also, writing latency. What are the exact numbers for the boox note air vs 21 ms in rM 2? Granted, rM2 could use better software, but as far as the hardware goes, how do these two compare? What's the build quality like? How durable are they? Which one can take accidental falls better than the other? Also, VERY IMPORTANT: how do the battery lifes compare?
rM uses also glass and has a 27ms latency. The hardware is cheaper on the rM2. Compare the specs and the size and you will see how they lie. Or do you really believe they can't fit something like a uSD card or similar with more than 8GB somewhere to mention only one point.
"better in every conceivable way"... then proceeds to mention "one thing" about what the Remarkable can do that the Onyx can't. Truth is, Remarkable has *many* advantages and is the better note taking device, the primary reason for this kind of product to begin with. The Remarkable is over 1mm thinner than the onyx. This might seem like not much but in the world of mobile devices, it's a massive difference. For all the other bells and whistles, I've always got my iPad Pro, which is a better multi-function device. The Onyx's additional features are value-add, and terribly inferior to the experience of any proper Android tablet. The Remarkable 2 doesn't pull any punches. It does one thing and does it incredibly well. The Remarkable 2 is minimalist, for minimalists. I have no dog in this fight, but this review is totally biased. I am in the market for dedicated eInk tablet for taking notes, and this "review" was useless. No sub for this channel.
I personally think people don't get it remarkable has released the first model that has apps and shit but the second one is not about that! For me the second one is meant to be like a book can you zoom on a real book? No ! Sure there are hacks for those that want them but the concept is what most people want! 1 tablet that is like a book that doesn't make your eyes feel like shit and keeps you from printing God knows how many pages! It's exactly what I've been waiting for I can't wait to order as soon as I've saved the money! I don't think it's for everyone!
“Pretty unbiased when it comes to these devices” “But when the onyx books air came out it absolutely destroyed the remarkable” “There’s absolutely nothing about the remarkable that is better than the onyx” Also includes a sponsor from Onyx Note in description, but not remarkable. ...
Good E Reader! You have done a bad review! We expect more neutral and reliable information, not like a business marketing that you did here in this biased review! Very unfortunate and disappointing review from Good E Reader!👎 By the way, don't misunderstand me as I am against Note Air, I already ordered it much before this review is uploaded!
I purchased a SuperNote (instead of a Remarkable) based off the comparison video you posted and I was actually disappointed with it. I have a friend with a Remarkable and I found it much better. I am going with the Remarkable 2 this time. I have a Samsung tablet to do all the multimedia stuff and I just want a no-distraction tool/device for annotating and study purposes. I appreciate the review though, it gives viewers a reasonable idea of the capabilities of these two EInk devices.
If you want it for anotating, the onyx air is better device because it works with books and pdfs better. Remarkable is really just for notes and drawing.
@Lauren Maxwell I didn't like the cloud service, not only was it ridiculously slow but VERY unreliable. I am also concerned about the location of the cloud servers (CCP China). I found the SuperNote to have slow responsiveness and the stylus was not as close to a pen/pencil-paper writing experience as the Remarkable. The SuperNote also had OS bugs that were not horrible but annoying (e.g., the odd freeze, interference from the OS overlay while writing in documents). Lastly I found that not all of the advertised features worked as it was advertised (not on the video by this channel but as advertised in other locations). I pre-ordered a Remarkable 2, so here's 🤞🤞that it lives up to its reputation.
I guess he was using it on the highest latency mode. As he said, you can switch to X Mode, which gives you the lowest latency on any device. - I just take a bold guess and expect that to be the same for the writing
@@ximaxwellix Screen latency and writing delay is not the same. If the delay through software is long when processing the pen location data, it really is just a matter of a further delay to make it visible. The delay in pen tracking is devastating since it can make your handwriting complete rubbish. The screen latency is an annoyance with you feedback loop into your brain. Both needs to be short... Just try different note apps on an iPad and you will see what I mean, for the same - very fast screen - the feel of writing can go from "sucks" to "okey" between programs, and of all of the IOS apps, only a few comes near the responsiveness needed. I have tried them all... I *hope* the rM will be good enough. The eInk devices I have had a number of years, have not been good enough. Neither have the iPad Pro 2017 or 2020 (I have them both and use them a LOT, but not for notetaking, still doing that on paper).
I have a Remarkable 2 and I use it for doing work, not interested in the distraction of internet. For play and other features I use an iPad. I want to see documents in PDF and I want to work freehand and like the organization of Remarkable. I got it because working with a pen on the glass of my iPad I did not care for, I like the feel of the Remarkable, very paper and pencil like tactile experience.
It's great to see a direct comparison! Both of these have similar designs, but appeal to different target audiences. reMarkable is more popular* and provides a focused experience, while BOOX is less popular but provides a more open experience that appeals more to someone like me who wants to read more kinds of content, including DRM-protected e-books, which includes content from major publishers, across many e-book platforms, even those without dedicated e-readers. *This, at least for me, affects things like the availablity of third-party accessories and note templates.
Definitely would not claim that ReMarkable is more popular. It is praised by a very tiny minority who want nothing more than a very expensive digital notepad for their own specific reasons. Onyx Boox devices are way more popular in general and cater to multiple audiences. You can probably compare this to Android vs iOS with the latter being used by a small minority compared to Android on the global scale. Just like you, I am more attracted to the new Onyx Boox devices for my studies.
Why would I use the Eink device as a monitor or watching videos or listening to music? I think it should be as simple as a piece of paper. Your cheap iPad will do other things much better.
Completely agree. Although it's nice to have kindle on it. And probably even listen to audiobooks or music while using (although for audio I would probably use my phone instead).
A couple of points I hope that can be addressed. Any “dead pixel “. Are the dpi the same? What is the onyx policy on stuck pixels? One of the advantages of reMarkable is if you have a problem with the screen they will replace it. I’m not sure of the onyx replacement policy. Maybe some viewers can pipe in about that part. If we are comparing the onyx as a multimedia device, shouldn’t it be compared to an iPad for features and price? If comparing to reMarkable we should hear a lot more about writing experience and lag. Speeding up video of the writing then stating onyx is more accurate without explanation needs to be rectified. Maybe another video is to explain how you concluded why onyx is more accurate. I’ve been with you guys since the way the beginning even before you had your own eink devices. Maybe this was an overreaction to the beginning of the year when your channel highly rated the remarkable 2 even before any review units were available to test. Keep posting interesting videos but do be careful making general comments without qualification. I know you guys put a lot of work into your reviews but this one felt a little too rushed.
If I want to watch youtube, surf the internet etc. I will do that on my iPad!!! Don't write reMarkable off due to features that will not be used... If reMarkable has a better pen and better writing experience, then it is superior. Please remembed these devices are specialized on reading or writing, the eInk is not suitable for movement, for color, but excels on readability and perhaps writability. Departing from "paper" towards tablets or computers is the wrong direction.
It's the reality that if you strip away all of the "distracting" apps, in the end, you're still left with a better, cheaper product with a glow light and onboard audio So no, the remarkable isn't Superior. spec for spec, dollar for dollar, pound for pound, the air is better. :)
The lag and registration of pen strokes at the end of the review on the Onyx when compared to the ReMarkable is shameful. So to say that that Onyx's pen is more accurate, that's a farce. If you don't plan on doing serious sketching, I'd say go with the Air, otherwise the actual drawing/writing experience on the ReMarkable hasn't been beat here.
The thing is I have a laptop/tablet so If I wanna do anything internet related I can just use that, that is the same for many. So to me the remarkable is the right choice because I don't need another tablet like device. In fact I like that it's only for note taking. This may be reaching but because it is far more simple it may last me more years, hopefully through undergrad and med school.
I think this was a bit too hard on the Remarkable... the one thing it has been created for is the feeling of writing on paper with a pencil. This is something Remarkable does best, period. Getting close to this (not even matching) with the Onyx requires buying a different pen with softer nibs and third party screen protectors. For everything else, OBNAir is just an other league, a different product. I have tried the Remarkable from a colleague that is totally in love with it, but I have chosen the Onyx because I need my notes to be sent by email quickly and for the possibility to review documents selecting the text to add notes is a game changer. Backlight makes it better than paper, the possibility to check emails is crucial, apps or browsing are just a plus, but very welcome.
Here's an idea that Goodereader can do for us. How about fast shipping/lending the Note Air over to My Deep Guide for an in-depth review comparison. I know it's in the best interest of Goodereader to sell these devices so its all good, but please allow us a more detailed review on the things that are important to potential buyers instead of these "feel" good reviews. What may be "great" on one device does not negate the other if it's lacking in features.
I have a ReMarkable 1 and absolutely love it. I'm a nursing student so I take lots and lots of notes and I love how I can just carry one light device instead of a giant notebook. Even though the speed is a little slow when flipping pages/opening documents, the writing speed from pen to device is perfect. It never lags for me. Honestly I like the ReMarkable more because it doesn't have all the other features to distract me.
whaaaaaaaaaaa whaaaaaaaaaa whaaaa.. traioning to hurt ppl much??? you wont even know what im saying but instead of elevating your feelings. you should mauybe learn
I love the fact that the Onyx is based on Android and lets you treat it like a tablet. But... The Remarkable has a noticeably brighter screen when no glow light is active on the Onyx. I really don't like the extra layer and the dimming that the front lighting on any e-ink device provides. Let the screen act like paper and turn on your reading light.
Excellent comparison of 2 direct competitors. Note Air is an excellent allrounder but Elnk devices, at least for me should be firstly defined through the write feel, then features (otherwise a Tab S6-S7\Ipad are the clear winner with the exception of the screen) Q: how does the write feel compare with Remarkable 2, which until now was mentioned to be best in business?
I had the same mindset, but since the lack of features on the rM1 requires me to always carry a tablet with me, it would be better FOR ME to choose the Boox Air, because it will shrink my needed devices to one. I can trade in some writing feel. But I was going back and forth with that decision for 2 weeks now. But once I came to the point what the rM2 improves over the rM1, it didn't really feel right to upgrade something for 450€, I didn't have a problem with in the first place. [Edit:] So as of now... IMO: Buying the rM2 feels more like buying the newest iPhone, Galaxy, Pixel, etc. - do you have a problem with your current phone, that the new one will fix? No. So why would I pay so much money for something I don't need. Yea and that was basically the point where I decided yesterday, I'm gonna cancel. As a student, I can use the money in a better way in these times. BTW! Please consider, that the rM2 is nothing else than a technical upgrade and I even believe that we already got a rM1 vs. rM2 comparision, saying that the canvas display of the rM2 is slightly less paper-like than the rM1. Would need someone to confirm tho. And if that is the case, you need to consider if you need a technical upgrade of the rM1.
@@ximaxwellix personally, I could say I am drooling for Remarkable since V1. Nevertheless the points mentioned by you are exactly the reason why I waited. With RM2, I wanted to see a bit more functionality; but, the writing feel is for me the most important aspect for buying a elnk device that costs as much as a tablet. Now if the Onyx Note Air, has the same feel as for example Ipad/Samsung, because is glass only, then only Remarkable remains. IF Onyx mimics a write on paper feel in an acceptable way then as @Goodreads mentioned, Onyx Note Air is just in another league
Just found a comment from him Goodereader vor 1 Stunde they are both running glass so they are fairly identical. the days of comparing glass vs non-glass seem to be behind us. Almost no one uses non-glass screens anymore. if you want the real answer, look for the comment from "Luiz Silva"
Unbiased review from someone who doesn't actually take notes or draw, you mean. Remarkable is has almost inperseptable latency. Which is not only better than the Onyx, but a key feature. And the lack of internet is a feature also.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees this. The Note Air is very tempting because it's jam-packed with lots of neat features, especially split-screen. My problem is that *ANY* device I *CAN* watch youtube or browse the web on will become a device used *only* for those purposes. I sorely need a distraction-free device. Sad, but true.
@@RamLaska I have a rm1 and I really want to love it, but there are so many features that onyx has and remarkable hasn't. And I don't talk about a browser or apps or stuff like that, but simple shapes like a line, a triangle, etc. or pinch and zoom or insert a picture to your notes. Remarkable has a huge lack on software and I'm not the only one who thinks about it that way, there is a whole community on reddit that is working on hacks and workarounds to make it a better device. I don't need a browser, I'd also be ok with that very simple "ebook reader", but remarkable has to work on their software and add the few really simple but necessary features. It's a shame that this wonderful piece of hardware fails because it hasn't a solid software. But instead of listening to the costumers and adding this few elementery features they just do nothing and keep saying that it's the philosophy of their device.
@@heiligerklabautermann Remarkable really needs to publish a roadmap. They're far too secretive and Apple-like. Being Apple-like works for apple, but they don't have the clout or the cash for quite that much haughtiness.
@@RamLaska that's right, I think without a roadmap they will loose a lot of costumers/potential costumers. If I knew they are working this or that feature, I'd wait for it. But instead they don't say anything about it and leave the costumers in a situation where they are just standing in the rain. I personally have ordered a note air, not because I love the company or what they stand for, but remarkables lack of the few elementary features kills my workflow in so many ways and I think note air will fit better to my usage. It's a shame because as I said, I really love the hardware especially the writing experience of remarkable, but there are so many moments in which I just hate it for being so limited.
@@heiligerklabautermann I'm thinking about the Note Air, too. One new wrinkle I've just found out about is that Onyx isn't posting their source code faithfully/regularly. So, they're benefitting from others' work, but not sharing their modifications. Remarkable is quite faithful to post their code and even make the device open enough to allow hacks and things like that for new functionality. Of course, I'd rather the functionality just *be there*, rather than rely on hacks. We'll see where this goes. I'm looking forward to seeing an in-depth review of the Note Air from My Deep Guide, and a comparison with the rM2.
There’s no real comparison. I tried them both and, without other features, ReMarkable is way behind the curve for usability. It reminded me of my first Packard Bell pentium computer in 1995 that had no real use but for AOL and DOS programs.
What an incomplete review. Also, the conclusion that Onyx Note Air is better in every respect is debatable. What about the writing/reading experience? The marker with a built-in eraser? The desktop apps - does Onyx boox even have one? The price comparison? I want to know about the different writing tools, etc... Also you didn't really take into account what audience is intended to be reached: it's clear that reMarkable is intended for people who are in business, who need to work or study, and want to focus, and replacing paper. While Boox Note Air is more like an all-around drawing/reading tablet on which distractions are numerous.
"We are going to be as fair and impartial" you started by saying...before you went on to talk for 13min and never discussing the writing experience which is a huge thing for users and before I decide to buy one or the other... Thank you for the tilted advice. :)
For everyone asking. I've used both for about 4 months. (I was indecisive & got both). The remarkable 2 hands down is a better writing experience. It's almost indescribable. It doesn't feel like you are writing on paper. It feels, in a word, better. Sure the boox can do a great deal more but that's specifically what the rm2 focuses on NOT doing. As a writer, I was stuck in the mud between writing on paper & typing on a computer. Sure, writing was nice but it wasn't portable & transcribing it was a chore. I'd spend hours speaking through dragon to have it type it up for me. Typing wasn't a good creative medium for me either. The rm2 let me go for hours just writing & when I was finished the transcription rate was about 98% (I have terrible handwriting) accurate. The boox had significantly for trouble recognizing my handwriting. For the bang & the buck go ipad pro. For a true writing e-ink experience, rm2. P. S. The battery life on boox was trash in comparison.
As a college student, I actually prefer the simplicity of the remarkable 2. Recently purchased mine, and it's great. I know myself all too well and I know that if my tablet had access to internet and apps like Facebook I will easily get distracted instead of using the device as I intended at purchase; to take notes during class without needing to deal with an abundance of paper.
This is my thinking ad well. As tempted as I am to get the Boox, I know that my main thing that I want is note taking and doodling. Any other features are going to distract me. Thank you for giving your input. I think you may have just solidified my decision. ♥️
I get that the reviewer values functionality in e-ink devices, but that really doesn't do justice for a large fraction of people interested in such devices. A lot of them value the writing experience/feel over functionality. As a reviewer you should consider that.
Such a biased review. However, despite trying to ‘hide’ the writing experience on the Air, you can clearly see how laggy it is. First stroke takes a few seconds to show up and for the lines to catch up to the pen. The Remarkable is instant. I do not own any of them, and do not care about any of them. I was just surprised by how disingenuous people and organization are. “GoodReader” - you lost my trust for sure. For those who seek reliable information on those type of devices, I highly suggest you follow “My Deep Guide”. This guy is super genuine.
Hi. I’m wondering if e reader users can help me choosing a product. I’m looking for an e reader that can work on stage for a musician who uses pdf files with chord charts and also as a traditional “book” e reader (with books from my library and probably amazon). --I’d like the largest screen possible as my eyesight isn’t great. I do wear glasses but I’d say 10” is the smallest I could probably find usable. Prefer larger! --PDF reader for chord charts. --Make simple notes onto those pdfs that I can view without tapping to open note. --Ability to integrate with a foot-based page turner would be awesome plus. --Ability to organize a “set list” of pdfs for a gig that I could choose quickly and easily in a visual menu would be great--so easy interface for multiple files when on stage. --Backlit option for low light (like on stage). Or ability to increase brightness to work well in low stage light for someone who has poor eyesight / needs good light to read even with glasses. --Like it to integrate with dropbox or google to load pdfs. --Essentially, as mentioned, I’ll use it on stage where I’ll want to toggle between numerous pdfs of “sheet music” (not really sheets but more chord charts) and I’ll also use it to read books. --Lighting (visibility in multiple light conditions) and screen size are very high priorities. --Ease of page turn while performing is big. (Integration with foot-based page turner, as mentioned.) --Onyx and ReMarkable were both on my radar but open to any suggestion THANKS!!
Great Video thanks. Note Remarkable 2 has seen a lot of updates since this video was made. e.g. PDF pinch & Zoom plus integrations with one Drive & GDrive plus Screensharing to PC using the companion app. Also would love to get feedback on the feel of the writing on the Air. I read elsewhere you need a screenprotector to get a good resistance feel like remarkable 2 has
I love how people keep talking about the R2 is designed to "keep distractions out", which is a completely bullshit statement. You can't be "distraction clear" while you do your thing in R2 and your smartphone continuously blinks next to you. Then, you will say "you should put your smartphone in a silent mode in order to not distract you" but then, what would be keeping you from doing the same in any equipment you are using, including the Onyx or any other similar equipment. The whole philosophy behind R2 and "Distraction-less" working experience is just a marketing bubble that doesn't make any sense in real world.
Both manufactured in china but Remarkable is a Norwegian company But Onyx is a chinese company. I support free Hong kong and free Tibet and free Taiwan. So I chose Remarkable2 and it's the best choice. It works very well
Notice all of these people on the comments saying Remarkable is better just because they already owned Remarkable lol. These people cant recognize their own bias. Its obvious from this comparison that Onyx Note Air is far better. "It feels better because it focus on one thing" lol, it literally slower in that one thing it is only good at. Just because Onyx has more features doesnt mean its not good at basic features like writing. It is better at annotating pdf, it is less laggy than remarkable 2. Your argument is stupid and doesnt make sense. This is why I only belief reviewers, they dont have to justify their purchase by downplaying other clearly superior products. Before I was in doubt, but after I watch this and see remarkable user argument, it convinced me that I won't ever buy remarkable.
Th Onyx Air is th best......l got me a Supernote, for writing g..and it s soo primitive,,,not true tht you can convert handwritten documents... No comments and got nothing..just like th remarkeable...but..cant return it, it cost 500$ and l have to loose 200$ to return it...
Note air placement of power button and USB port is really odd. Does it interfere with using folio case? Also does power button gets accidentally triggered when using with a bluetooth keyboard? What about the writing experience? Is glass surface slippery? I do agree specwise, Note air is ahead, but question the usability. Most likely end up with Note Air because of crappy reader software on RM2.
What I like about the reMarkable 2 is that very fact that it doesn't have all of the bells and whistles that the Onyx offers. I have used both devices and I can tell you that the Onyx feels like a device from the past. It literally feels like an old B&W Macintosh and it completely takes away the whole "futuristic" feel of the device. The rM2 on the other hand truly feels like a brand new type of device. True, the Onyx may have more features, but the battery life falls very short compared to the reMarkable 2. The reMarkable 2 has a better feel when writing compared to the Onyx. One thing that I noticed with the Onyx is that you really get tired of using it. I mean, it literally makes you want to put down the device and write on a real piece of paper. By contrast, you don't get tired of using the reMarkable. The entire experience of writing on a tablet becomes very enjoyable with the reMarkable. In my opinion, the reMarkable is the right choice. (it also looks and feels way more professional)
i have my rM2 and love it but was going to buy a new laptop to replace my Macbook Air thats quite old now, but now i'm considering gettting the Onyx Book Note Air instead with bluetooth keyboard whats anyone think?
Remarkable is better because it's like writting on paper. Onynx book air is like writting on glass, which is not fun, just like your tablet, so what is the point of getting one.
Why do all your articles on the web read like press releases with 0 downside? Eg: on boox max lumi you don’t mention the poor quality stylus at all as a downside
This is an apples to oranges comparison though. These two tablets have completely different uses. I have a remarkable 2, and the one thing I love the most is that there are no notifications, no apps, no email, no messages. No clutter, and i can focus on work. Also, the screen and feel of writing on it is far superior to anything else that exists today.
@@louisleedham3422 Well, not really. I mean, the response time, the feel of using the device and the build quality, is enough to justify the price imo. Because of the same reasons, I think the reMarkable 1 was much more overpriced. Some might disagree, but it's difficult to set a price on quality. It's a bit like saying the macbook is an overpriced laptop. It definitely has an insane price, but it's the best device of it's niche, and that makes up for a whole lot of money.
3 things I think was missing. How you do manage files on each? Is it easy to manage folders. Is there an easy backup of the files incase you break or loose the device. What is the latency like when drawing. Does the device keep up with the pen?
You failed to mention which product feels more like writing on paper which is what most people is looking for. All the other stuff i can do with an iPad or Surface tablet.
Hi, congratulations for your channel. I have a question; You can write over the epubs directly with pen as in PDF. Is it possible write in EPUBS with pen directly as in PDF to take notes, or underline...etc? thanks.
The Remarkable is remarkable for the amount of stuff it doesn't have
It's just more focalized on writing experience.
@@willo1345 same, stem student. Thinking of getting remarkable2. Hows it working out so far? Got surface but battery life is shit and it heats up.
@@comedian2479 I love it so far. I no longer try to use up every inch of paper, lol. Just swipe and keep going.
@@willo1345 nice, did u get the marker2 pen with erasable end?
3:07 "Unfortunately"? That's the whole point of this tablet!
I felt that way too. The Remarkable has a very clear purpose, and it's not to be a media consuming tablet.
Can you say something about the following points:
1. Battery usage (life time, loading time, usage time)
2. weight and grip
3. writing surface
4. using the onyx without backlight (reading quality)
5. are there differend highlighter colors with onyx (as - virtually - with remarkable)?
Thanks!
Wait for my deep guide and everything related to the sw should be already covered by his Lumi and older reviews.
I agree. I have the same impressions.
Goodereader videos are trash
- Where is you homework?
- I forgot recharge my paper...
The screen on reMarkable2 is whiter, more of a paper-like feeling.
Is the black also blackier (I.e., is the contrast better)?
If so, is the contrast still better with the lights on? I feel like the contrast improved a lot on my kindle when the lights are on, even in the lowest seeing.
@@lacbs I have none of both in my hands, having booked a Note Air tho.
@@lacbs Contrast is a user-adjustable setting on Boox. Also, it has its own lights.
@@hunterhenryk In the no light scenario the rM2 should be better because there is no additional layer for the light that steals a minimum when switched off. But if you take all scenarios into account, the Air should be better and even adjustable.

If you want a device for note taking RM is today the best tool in the world that I know of.
@@blobidibou9503 I really need a device for note taking as I use my iPad pro for everything else...
my advice : if you can, then you should wait (until november) for your rm2.
it’s the best note taker in the market. it’s going to be totally worth it so hang in there :)
blob idibou indeed I’m waiting for the rm2 and won’t cancel my order...
AND I wait eagerly to recieve my rM2 which should arrive within the next few weeks...
thank you very much for this excellent video, it's a great job !
Oh BS you probably didn’t properly install the upgrade software. After everything is properly upgraded it works great.
I want the device to do what is supposed to do the best way possible with a real feel of paper, for the rest I have an ipad pro
weird that you completely ignore the obviously lower drawing latency with the remarkable. and then you speed up the drawing test so it’s difficult for the viewer to see
These videos are so frustrating, because none of them go into what I care about: drawing on them.
Period. This was a poor analysis from that stand point.
strange... you say it like onyx is better but what I learned here is that remarkable is better (in doing what it was meant to do) with exception of browser (hope it will be added later), data transfer and lack of modifying aspect ratio of shapes...
just copped the air on your site✔️✔️
8:14 Why so much talking about layers? if you have any onyx device you can download any app on play store that uses layers. Is not Remarkable exclusive & patented invention ...
The lag makes the pen unusable on third party apps
This product seems tailor-made for classroom use...with the advancement and proliferation of technology in our society, more and more grade school classrooms are switching to laptops or tablets. Of course this is a net positive for limiting the use of natural resources, but one downside to this change would be the decline in students' handwriting skills. Additionally, since the introduction of common core standards back in 2010 schools are no longer required to teach cursive handwriting, and only about two dozen states have passed legislation to reintroduce the style of handwriting used by the Founding Fathers to write the Constitution & the Declaration of Independence.(Imagine an entire generation of American citizens who were unable to read the Constitution...)
I would love to see the company who makes these tablets land a contract with the federal government to supply these tablets to classrooms across the country.
"You can only change the actual size and rotation. [...] but you can't make the item bigger or smaller."
TIME WASTE. Thank you.
Amazing contribution, thank you :-)
I’ve been shopping for a tablet like this for sometime and I see the value in the ones that offer more services for the price point.
But with the remarkable, I’m both missing features and money…
Sad to say, I’ll be returning the remarkable
im in the same boat as you! let me know when a destination is reached
Absolutely!! May these guys made an agreement with "my deep guide" to leave this aspect to him?
Also, I would like to hear how it sound when writings. Glass knocking sound is unacceptable!
@@CLC616 when I reached out to them on Facebook, they said the same thing.
In Among Us language... highly sus.
It's the Apple effect. Branding + design.
Good review: apart from no comparison in surface feel or latency. Why? 🤔
I remember similar shallowness when the topic were the Dasung external monitor. Complete disregard for the use case.
That’s right. Part of it might be that Goodereader doesn’t like that they cannot sell the reMarkable yet. That sped-up writing at the end was surprisingly shady.
@@CLC616 can't they? It's up on their store....
@@shekhardevm It says, "Available on: 12/1/2020 at 7:11:00." You can probably pre-order it, but they cannot actually give it to you yet.
I don’t think this is biased at all, wish this video was out when I bought the remarkable2.
Just gonna copy my comment to other ppl:
If it was better than Rm they would have shown it for sure and not fast forward the actual most important question.

isnt the ipad for writing too? your comment comes off kind of pretentious
@@greenboarder89 eyes are too tired after long time reading by iPad
@@greenboarder89 It's s a very different experience and purpose. The intent of the Rm2 is to provide you with a possibility to take notes and work with your thoughs. That is why they do not put any distractions but focus on things like battery longevity (last 1 week when used), writing experience, thin product. The fondamental purpose of an ipad and Rm are different. With the ipad you write on glass it is not as nice but the initial purpose of an ipad is not to enable you to be with your thoughts or take notes. Rm is not for you if you want a device to do many different things.
Disappointing that the reviews on this channel have gotten worse instead of improving.
In the PDF, the RM2 looks like it has deeper blacks and whiter whites. Is that just due to the settings on the Boox Note Air? Or an artifact of the camera? To be honest, the RM2 looks so much clearer and better than the Note Air.
Note Air lets you modify the contrast so it could be made better. It is much more versatile in that regard

@@ximaxwellix The remarkable doesn't have a glass lens
The. $7 mo fee is also a sign of problems and unrealistic projections.
You can clearly see in the video, that your handwriting is way more paper-like on the Remarkable 2.
This “review” is ridiculous. Actually you have done this before: with the Dasung external monitor and the Onyx Max. And actually the external monitor feature of the Onyx was utter rubbish.
Because of that interview I bought Onyx Max 3 for display and regret, so bought Dasung as well after all.
@@omnibus4298 , can you describe the difference as an external monitor?
Does anyone that has RM2 or Onyx, how does it work when writing? When I write on paper, I tend to rest the palm on the paper itself. Would this interfere in the e-ink devices?? It's something I've always wondered. In the video, it seems Peter writes without touching with the palm, of course. Only with the pen. Would appreciate your insights. Thanks.
Hi, couple questions:
- What's the erasing function like on the Onyx over the reMarkable?
- How does the response speed of the screens during writing and drawing compare?
- How does the writing feeling of both devices compare?
Yessssss same questions. But apparently they're not answering.
About for first question:
I've already watched other reviews:
As always, the standard pen does not feature an eraser on the back, on both devices.

I didn't like the note taking part were everything was just FF and you couldn't see the drawing delay nor reviewer said anything about writing feel.
Sadly the feel is a taste and you have to try them out. So even if one wins in a review maybe you wont like it at all.
Due to environmental reason's and some others I cancelled my rM2. I know allready I would send it back even if it feels superb.

Don't get me wrong, I do love my Onyx Note, but we still did not have any information about WRITING EXPERIENCE NOW!
Yeah! I wonder why they are voluntarily not reviewing and comparing the writing feel or experience.

Also, VERY IMPORTANT: how do the battery lifes compare?
The Remarkable 2 has a glass screen.
rM uses also glass and has a 27ms latency.

By the way, don't misunderstand me as I am against Note Air, I already ordered it much before this review is uploaded!

Note Air is an excellent allrounder but Elnk devices, at least for me should be firstly defined through the write feel, then features (otherwise a Tab S6-S7\Ipad are the clear winner with the exception of the screen)
Q: how does the write feel compare with Remarkable 2, which until now was mentioned to be best in business?
Agree with this comment! Same question
The Note Air is very tempting because it's jam-packed with lots of neat features, especially split-screen.

Subscription model killed R2 as an option for me
There’s no real comparison.
I just looked up the air is $479.99 and the remarkable is 399...
Remarkable does not include pencil and folio. Pencil starts from 49 and folio from 99.
"We are going to be as fair and impartial" you started by saying...before you went on to talk for 13min and never discussing the writing experience which is a huge thing for users and before I decide to buy one or the other... Thank you for the tilted advice. :)
I don't like the fact that the new Oynx stylus has no eraser. WTF?
Objective?! My ass. The way you guys framed this review felt almost like a personal attack to the RM family. Disappointed
I own a remarkable 2 and I love it.
@lil jil Yes, with the option to highlight text
Is it easy to load academic papers and read them?
@@hestervankooten3592 Yes, as long as the documents are PDF
This is my thinking ad well. As tempted as I am to get the Boox, I know that my main thing that I want is note taking and doodling. Any other features are going to distract me. Thank you for giving your input. I think you may have just solidified my decision. ♥️
@@rebeccacosme1372 ...so you will pay more.. for a slower and less featured device...?
I get that the reviewer values functionality in e-ink devices, but that really doesn't do justice for a large fraction of people interested in such devices. A lot of them value the writing experience/feel over functionality. As a reviewer you should consider that.
1:41 I detect a video editing error…
It's the e-note illuminati
(Integration with foot-based page turner, as mentioned.)
--Onyx and ReMarkable were both on my radar but open to any suggestion
THANKS!!
Can you please make a comprehensive comparison based on pure writing experience?
Their handwriting is on a first grade-level, so the answer is no.
They can't, because no one will buy RM2 from them. RM2 is so much cheaper in the official distribution.
Magic 8 Ball says "you will make a lot of enemies" and also "ask again later."
RM2 fans on suicide watch
@@AnotherGeneric LOL
Both manufactured in china but
Remarkable is a Norwegian company
But Onyx is a chinese company.
Th Onyx Air is th best......l got me a Supernote, for writing g..and it s soo primitive,,,not true tht you can convert handwritten documents...
and got nothing..just like th remarkeable...but..cant return it, it cost 500$ and l have to loose 200$ to return it...
(it also looks and feels way more professional)
all eInk is laggy as of today, while remarkable being among the laggiest. onxy is less laggy.
You either don't understand the technology and configuration options or are intentionally spreading misinformation.
Onyx Book AIR rocks, it is the better product for sure. As a owner of one for almost a month my workflow has changed and I loving the AIR.
i have my rM2 and love it but was going to buy a new laptop to replace my Macbook Air thats quite old now, but now i'm considering gettting the Onyx Book Note Air instead with bluetooth keyboard whats anyone think?
Remarkable is better because it's like writting on paper. Onynx book air is like writting on glass, which is not fun, just like your tablet, so what is the point of getting one.
Why do all your articles on the web read like press releases with 0 downside? Eg: on boox max lumi you don’t mention the poor quality stylus at all as a downside
remarkable 2 is stupid for not having a backlite - seriously how could they think they could have a e-reader without a backlite.
I agree, do you not feel that should be reflected in the price of the Remarkable 2 though? For me its a hugely overpriced product!
Is it possible write in EPUBS with pen directly as in PDF to take notes, or underline...etc? thanks.
