    The SolidGoldFX Lysis is a Polyphonic Fuzz Modulator which blends analog and digital to create sounds previously unheard of in the guitar world. Like the first version, a blend knob controls the mix of the fuzz with a polyphonic octave baked in but now it’s more than suboctave, the Voice gives you suboctave, octave up/down or octave down with a 5th for instant fuzz power chords! The other side of the blend control is an extensive filter section which can be shaped by high and low pass filtering and a 3 pos Resonance toggle. The filter’s speed can now be controlled via tap tempo or swept manually with an expression pedal. Plus, holding the tap footswitch momentarily ramps up or down at various rates thanks to the two sided ramp knob. The Lysis MKII has an all new waveshape section that includes a 3 position mode toggle and corresponding 11 position Wave knob that delivers a huge variety of sawtooth, sine and stepped square waves! Finally, you can use the Lysis full-time or in momentary bursts with the bypass footswitch and diving inside you can adjust what parameters the expression pedal controls with 4 combinations of the internal dip-switches.
    The SolidGoldFX Lysis MKII is made with high quality components in both its analog and digital circuits in Canada. For complete specs on this new Fuzz modulator, check out SolidGoldFX.com

    There are so many pedals available it can make your head spin. It’s always cool when something comes along that shakes things up and sounds killer too 🤘

    Dig the MOving in Stereo thrown in there for good measure. I remember when that album came out -- there was nothing like it. It's good to hear the classics.

    Love that this company always finds creative ways to use their switches. Expression options rule but having so many external pedals is a pain. So nice to control from the pedal itself

    I've wanted to know this for ages: what's the story with the background music under your talking? Do you record it yourself? I always wondered if it used the gear in the demo but it doesn't sound like that here. Great video as always!

    Okay, I'm quite literally the most broke I've been in the least 10 years of my life but I've been wanting a pedal like this for probably 11 so I might try selling a kidney to pick it up. Really cool sounds that remind me of the ED Data Corrupter but without having to beat your head against the oscillation too much, just cool octave sounds. What REALLY makes me want to pick this up is that expression pedal capability, really cool dive sounds that have the capability to compete with the Maestro Fuzz Phazzer (that pedal is like 500 bucks right now so uh I'm never getting one) that compete in dominance in my head for "Coolest Pedal Ever", check out the EP "High Rise II" by Japanese psychedelic band High Rise (that's the Fuzz Phazzer). I think I like it when you combine Fuzz and something else, id probably buy a Fuzz tuner or something. I'm understanding more about myself, thank you, Andy.

      i've never heard any guitar fans mention high rise! great band, Narita is one of the best guitarists of his kind and his fuzz tones are so great. what else do you know about his equipment, i'd be intersted in hearing how you found out.

    • @AllOfYouGuysAreDumb
      @AllOfYouGuysAreDumb 2 роки тому

      @@amphitheatre I fell in love with High Rise right when I picked up my guitar as a kid and looked up to Narita. A New Zealand magazine called "Oppobrium" got an interview with the guy and it has some really crazy insights on him as a musician and the scene that fueled his sound and guitar playing: www.squealermusic.com/reviews/naritainterview.html check it out if you got the time. He started out playing in a time where everyone was obsessed with clean tones and compressors and then he just comes out of nowhere with this heavy sound that he describes as "seeing a traffic accident right in front of you".

    • @amphitheatre
      @amphitheatre 2 роки тому

      @@AllOfYouGuysAreDumb whoa, that was a great interview, so in depth, thanks for sharing. i found him years after i started playing and thought, this was it, i missed the boat. his style is completely rock but founded on things rockists hate, which only reinforces the irreverent nature of his music, a real r'n'r nature. of all the tones different guitarists can get, their Live album really impresses me the most, especially that second track around the 4 minute mark, perfectly described by the quote you selected!! i listen to that album in the gym every week almost, have for years; got the vinyl reissue too, definitely their defining moment imo. this new Lysis pedal seems to get some of those Maestro sounds. very impressive lfo capabilities!!

    One of the problems I found with MKI and this version sounds like it suffers from it too is a delay between the note and the pitch shifted note

    Andy have you listened to the band Amon Duul II before? I have a feeling this pedal could do their spacy tones well. Its like a fuzz going into a synthy resonant filter

    Is it possible for this to just be straight fuzz? Or is there always going to be octaves/filter?

    • @AndyDemos
      @AndyDemos  8 місяців тому +1

      Good question! The pedal is divided into an Octave Fuzz and a Filter section like I show in 3:05 . The octave is baked into the fuzz.

    The new versions of SolidGoldFX's pedals don't sound as good as the previous generation. Both this and the Electroman MkIII have a grating, fluorescent kind of sound where the older versions were warm and affecting.

    • @CorbCorbin
      @CorbCorbin 2 роки тому +2

      Well, the Electroman Mkii should be able to get bright and digital too, as that’s one of its main features. I love mine. It’s much better than any one trick BBD, and I like it better than a Memory Man, as the mod effect has many ways to set it, and the Warp is cool too.
      I didn’t even consider the MKIII because it’s a different set of features on it, none of which I need. I don’t think it sounds bad though.
      This Lysis sounds much better than the original to me, and the features make it a big upgrade. Have you seen The Pedal Zone demo? He uses it very differently than Andy, so maybe it will show you a better representation for what one can do with it.
