- We welcome back Luka Rejec the writer, illustrator and designer of Ultraviolet Grasslands and the Black City, which provides a unique setting which is inspired by psychedelic Heavy Metal, the Dying Earth genre, and Oregon Trail.

Great to watch another interview with Luka Rejec. I loved hearing how he works, the relationships between his setting and mechanics, and all of the art.
I'm so jealous of his ability to do all the different aspects, which creates such a unique personal game.
I have my copy of UVG 2E now and I love it, but I wish it was called UVG Director’s Cut or something since that makes it a bit more clear what it is. A more expansive version of the original with some room to breathe and previously cut content. Also the cover art of 2E is cool, but I think the composition and layout of the 1E cover is way cleaner and sells the idea of the setting much better! Glad I have a copy of both 😁
9:42 Luka mentions UVG has a strong central theme: “a long strange trip”. I 100% agree and it’s one of my favorite things about the UVG. The map conveys that theme extremely well which is why I’m so glad the map got some extra attention and upgrades in 2E. I think that the reason I like the 1E cover so much is that it sells that theme really well with its visual language, which I can’t really say about the 2E cover (even though I think it’s a gorgeous art piece).
I recall in my original interview with Luka that the cover to UVG1 was actually the first illustration he did for it, without knowing what it was. It was like that one illustration became an entire world!

Does the UVG2e come with the fold out maps? Or should I get the Deluxe for that? Or is something better becoming available?
You need to either get the UVG: Grand Map 2, or the deluxe bundle
