As much as this decision was the right one for me and I feel that to my core, I was still very apprehensive about sharing this and talking as candidly as I can about the situation, both in terms of the reaction of the wider running industry (brands, old wigs, etc) and this community too. If I thought I had anything to worry about in that regard, last night (the Night of the 10,000m PBs) absolutely blew that out the water. The SUPPORT from the running community, people who watch and support this channel, and just the sheer people-power behind me and the whole event was on another level. I'm truly so fortunate to get to do this sport, whatever form that should take
I was there cheering you along to your pb 👏👏👏 it's a great occasion isn't it. Daniel came past during the race but he needed to get content so didn't stop him. Looking forward to the video of the night Phily.
My daughter and I were screaming support for you at the back straight bend as you entered the tunnel. You should be very proud of your run last night. You have inspired my daughter to run there one day.
Et pourquoi pas habiter en France ? Moins de pluie pour s'entraîner toute l'année. Font Romeu par exemple, ou Nice ? I lived 10 years in Cambridge but it was too wet all the time for me. 😊
Hey, I never watched your channel because you were a "professional". I watch and will continue to watch because I think you an amazing, open and honest person, a gifted elite athlete and you inspire me to keep putting one foot in front of the other and just run.
I love when people outgrow the dream they once romanticized in their head, and move on to the next thing, able to leave that and dream bigger in a new way.
I love this comment. I'm feeling unsure about an opportunity I once dreamed of now that it's in my lap, and trusting my intuition feels important, as Philly said...
I had a dream to become a doctor which I absolutely romanticised. I achieved it and was training to become an older adult psychiatrist, but I was so burnt out. I loved my patients but it took a heavy toll on my mental health and well-being. It took me a long time, but I eventually realised it wasn't right for me, and now I'm moving in to public health, which is a much better fit for me It was so hard to let go of that dream, and it took a lot of soul-searching, but I'm proud of myself for doing it, and I'm proud of Philly for making the right choice for her ❤
I love to hear when people aren't afraid to change course. I spent years prepping for university and went, on a path to be a mathematics professor. After 4 years, burning out, realizing it wasn't what I truly wanted, I dropped it and pursued a creative life in the photo and filmmaking world, primarily focused in the music industry. Life is wild.
We don’t watch you because of brand sponsorship, we watch you because you’re awesome Philly! Seems this decision is for the best and we can’t wait to see what you do!
You gave me back my motivation after my prostate cancer to run, you still motivate me and I'm hoping for a 3- 3.15 marathon ( I'm 57) this year. All down to you being real. Your awesome.
I love how Phily basically told us with hints that New Balance wasn't paying her (other than some free shoes, whoopdy doo), while still not breaking her contract. Well done Phily!
This isn't entirely correct. Obviously we can't know for sure, but I can read between the lines pretty well. When Phily joined Team NB, I'd guess she was offered a modest "development" contract (salaried) based around bonuses and probably no reductions (due to her stipend being low enough it couldn't be realistically reduced). These types of contracts are predicated on the assumption the athlete will receive major bonuses for hitting explicit performance goals. Could be anything... podiums at major events, making national teams, hitting time goals, setting PB's, NR's, WR's, WL's, meet/facility records. But for the most part, athletes on these types of contracts at least need a part-time job to live comfortably & save. Phily & Daniel already had a 2nd gig that was growing (YT) when she quit her day job & joined Team NB. So from her POV the risk was minimal. Plus once she factored in the free professional coaching/trainers/physio staff, the facilities, shoes & gear, altitude camps, & travel/accommodations/expenses to any race she fancied covered, her dev. contract made even more sense. But when that contract expired, it sounds like NB re-optioned her for an Equipment-Only contract. This is the MOST common & SHITTY "pro" contract type out there. It gives the shoe company everything and the athlete nothing. You basically become free advertising for the company and receive nothing of real substance in return. Plus you lose all your rights & flexibility as an athlete to strike other financial arrangements w/o 1st receiving NB approval. This is what NB probably offered Phily when they tried re-upping her. So she told NB to go shove it! Good for her!! I think it's shocking how NB is sooooo short-sighted. In Phily they received WAY MORE VALUE in JUST publicity & advertising from her social media than they currently receive the majority their legit Olympic & Worlds pros! Those guys just pump out 1-line IG posts twice a month. They're just ticking off a contractual obligation. But Phily OTOH is doing 20-min long form video essays weekly, IN ADDITION to all the superficial IG/Twitter/FB bs stuff. Hell the commercial exposure Phily brought to NB was easily worth hundreds of thousands in marketing annually. Way more than NB was paying out. She reaches BOTH runners & non-runners! And that's not even counting the athletic potential. NB are idiots.
@@EricS-uf9mv I wouldn't say Phily brings them in hundreds of thousands a year. But they were clearly not treating her as they should. I agree with Phily in that a partnership should be both giving and receiving. NB seem like they just want to exploit and receive. Phily has done the right thing imo. Being bold like that is easier said than done.
@@SuperYtc1 Do you have any idea what national ad buys cost? You can easily spend a quarter million on a single ad campaign in a high profile national rag or paper. And that's PRINT media. Not long-form multi-media. Her content gave NB a weekly 20-30min showcase that ppl NOTICED. People were interested... as evidenced by the groundswell of 'Alphafly???' comments when things suddenly changed w/o Phily saying a word.
I would say you are the ultimate running professional. You are carving your own path to make a living in the running community. I think your model will be the one that succeeds for more people long term.
Whoever said never meet your heros obviously had the wrong heros! It was a pleasure to meet you last night Phily, I could not be more excited for you and everything that is to come, and especially glad we all get to be part of it in some small way:)
This was a beautifully honest watch. The "cringe" parts you spoke of were actually just vulnerable and wholesome. Well done PB, be proud of yourself and your journey!
Totally agree the ‘cringe’ part was totally not and personally found it quite moving ! Keep doing what you do Philly ! Love the grind and love seeing your grind ❤
Presumably brands have a budget for elite athletes but then also a budget for marketing and social media etc. Seems like you hold all the cards tbh. If a brand wants to lock you in they're getting a lot of bang for buck 🤷♂️ also will need to do a 'favourite running shoe' video now you aren't legally obliged to only suggest NB haha
You’re such an excellent communicator. Even with the restrictions of an NDA you’ve told detailed story that others can relate to and learn from. As a journalist I edit a lot of first person essays and it’s been an education in how much evasion and omission there is in how most people tell their stories, even when supposedly being candid. But your stuff is always really good.
Thank you for sharing. We are all team Bowden here. I run to keep myself healthy. Following "professional" athlete such as yourself is a tool to keep myself motivated and also learn a great deal about running. You are a treasure to the running community and non runners alike. More like an ambassador to the later. More on topic, listening to your guts and heart are crucial to keep your identity. There will always some 'pivots' in your life. Embrace the new stuff and the unknown. It make life fun and interesting. Love the grind !
Really brave and smart opinions shared Phily. I had a job in academia, where the system is really broken wrt PhD students’ pay and work environment. Lots of more senior staff in academia’s attitudes are “we went through it, so you should too”. I feel like working in an industry where the system feels broken and yet so many people just grit their teeth and live with really crap conditions means that you have to make hard decisions - swimming against the current- that honour yourself and your worth. Kudos to you because it requires a lot of bravery and leaping into the unknown. You’re highlighting there are other ways to exist in the system.
This is part of the reason I left my PhD program. There were other reasons, too, but yeah... it would not have been a good work environment for me. Now, 10 years later, I'm a private coach and personal trainer. Functionally... I get paid to run. When a "professional" coaching job comes up (HS/university/etc.) I will admit I find it VERY tempting. But there's something to be said about being the one in the driver's seat, and I find myself continuously backing myself and going my own way. Way to go Phily!
The brand should change and starting to pay pro athletes not just for the medals but also for their impact toward the running community. For most of us mortal and average runners (at least for me) we listen and inspire for pro athlete and influencers at the same time. More connection and knowledge we get from you. Enjoy your journey Phily
The Elite runner that mixes with the peasants of the running world is why you are liked/loved so much. Just keep doing what you do and you will continue to grow in all aspects of life 🏃🏻♀️💪🏻
Philly, you’re simply sympathetic, open, honest and inspirational no matter what you do. The most important thing is to be happy!!! So just keep going and maybe we’ll see you at Olympia.
You have always been and will always be such a huge inspiration to me! It was so lovely meeting you and watching you run on the track yesterday!! Thank you again for signing my marathon medal! Love the grind, the future is bright!
Cyclist here who subscribed because your video pacing your better 1/2 around a Park Run popped up on my feed when I was trying to get my own Park Run time under 30mins, and it made me laugh so much I’m still watching. It’s a shame running companies don’t take a leaf more out of some of the MTB / Freeride sponsors books who support a fair few bike riders not because of just their race or competition results, but often because of what they bring to the table with their social media presence and profile in the sport, I think they’re deffo missing a trick there and hopefully they will start to see the additional value that runners and athletes like yourself bring to the brand.
Hearing about all the secrecy around the contracts gave me an icky feeling ngl. Rest of the video gave me a really good feeling :-). Sounds like you're listening to yourself and that's really healthy. Best of luck!
You’re the only person who knows what’s right for you, and the fact that you’re the happiest you’ve been says a lot. Love your videos and your outlook.
The fact you managed to build something that will sustain you while you are doing what you love is by itself a huge win. Now you will be living and running on your own terms. This is a great step forward and an amazing achievement, congratulations to both of ya!
Congrats on the PB last night. I was watching on BBC sport. Watching your channel for the last few months has got me off my bum to start pounding the roads again, even know I know my fast PBs will likely never be repeated it’s nice to be back out there.
Your clothing line is some of the best in the running industry, style wise, in my opinion. Your personality and style is something big brands just can’t figure out how to infuse into their own clothing. I could see your brand in the running/athletics community becoming a recognized name. Love the Grind 🙂
You are a very talented athlete Phily but even more so you are a brilliant role model in the running community. The amount of people cheering for you yesterday at the night of the 10pbs was just a glimpse into how much you are loved by the running world. Any brand would be LUCKY to have you, so you should only go where you feel really appreciated. We'll be with you wherever your journey takes you
Your contract ended December 2023, and here I am a new subscriber just a couple months back. I barely knew you were sponsored athlete. I am sold because you bring gold in whatever you're sharing and I love how candid you are. You're not just amazing athlete, but you are very articulate and reflective, a very rare quality in the sea of today's run-fluencers. I believe the world will take you anywhere you want to go. You got this!
I found your channel in January when I started running again. Your videos are inspiring simply because you are so genuine. Thank you for sharing your journey, I’m excited to see where you go next! Love the grind ❤
You are a fantastic role model and advocate for listening to your gut and knowing sometimes what is right for you long-term could mean a bit more challenge in the short-term. Excited to see what else is in store, Phily!🌟
Proud of you for making this decision for YOU. While it was probably easy knowing this was the right thing to do, I totally understand how tough it is to unravel all the pieces keeping the one thing in place AND feeling like you have to explain it in a way that people understand. You wouldn’t have to explain a thing and we’ll support you through and through ❤️
You are so motivated Phily, you don’t need a sponsor to push you to great things. You will achieve regardless. Keep doing what you’re doing ❤ Love the grind 😊😊
We make our own opportunities so when one door shuts, generally another one opens up if we keep ourselves open to the possibility. I fell you are open to that next chapter of your story so I’ll just say…Congratulations 🎉 on starting that next chapter. Growth isn’t always easy. This is one of the best “running” channels on UA-cam for the totality of the content, not just the running aspect. Keep up the great work. Love the Grind!
Like many others here, I started watching you because of your backstory, not because you were a pro athlete, and you've inspired me so many times to go out to run (even though I'll never be able to run 4:30 as an 'easy' pace - I can't even keep that going for 1k!). Will be following your journey down your new path!
Thanks for being so open! This is why I follow your channel. Phily you must do what is right for you, as long as you bring us along on the journey. Love the grind!
30/40 years ago we were not professional, in fact we all worked full time, me (as many others did) trained 2x day six days a week. It’s all about managing your life how you want to and enjoy being a runner. You have reached an amazing standard so focus on the positive achievements. So many runners on YT have become almost obsessed with times and goals they never get close to. I hope you find your happy place, you seem like a nice genuine person 😊
As you eloquently put it: Life's too short. You have to do what feels right! Congratulations on the PB at Night of the 10000m PBs at Parly Hill last Saturday. Upwards and onwards.
Firstly as a northerner living down south can I just say, yes, you’re right 😉. Secondly, absolutely great video. I must say, I think the major brands are missing a trick. For the price of kit, subsidised training camps and physio it’s perplexing they wouldn’t want to be all over someone with your social media reach. To me it’s a no brainer to have you bedecked in their kit. Lastly, super proud to be a patron, and even if in a small way, support you to one day get that 5 ring tattoo
Just did my first marathon late last year and recently did the London Marathon. Picked up a solid injury around mile 18 and the support from the entire community -- runners and spectators -- was absolutely INSANE!! No way could I have finished the race without them. I've been a middle distance runner for over two and a half decades, but the moment I got that injury, then being carried the final 10k by momentum the crowd, it just felt right in my gut. The shorter stuff, the 5 and 10ks, I had always been better at comparatively, but nothing ever felt right to me the way the marathon distance does. Do what you feel is right, love the grind.
So happy for ya! You are my running opposite. My marathon run basically killed my desire to run. So… I bequeath you all my potential, future Marathon runs. They are all yours.😎 May you enjoy them every step of the way! I am trying to get back into shorter runs. Have a 10k in Chicago this weekend. If anyone is doing the Soldier Field 10 miler/10K, I will see you out there. 😘 (I will probably be wearing my Slow AF tank top.😎)
You hit the nail on the head when you said, Sometimes you need to back yourself before others will back you.’ Totally the right decision. You are on the right path. Stand up and be the trailblazer and show the world a better way Philly. 💕🌻
I started watching this thinking something awful had happened... but you've just changed things round. So glad you're in a happy space, doing your thing - and that you're still running! You are an example to us all. It's great that you can appreciate your privileged position & enjoy life for all the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune 😁 Enjoy what's to come xx
NB held you back. Now's your time to reap the rewardss of being an "influencer" aka getting paid a wedge to promote any/all brands you want to - thanks to the awesome following you've built!
Phily, I came across your channel by chance and I am forever grateful for you and your love of the grind. As a 53 year old woman who enjoys running, you’ve given me a renewed passion for the sport. Kudos for choosing happiness and for making the right decision for you. Love, from Texas.
So you're actually now a Self-employed professional athlete? I get it! And I'm a Mancunian so glad you like the old town! We like 'Grind' up 'ere too! x
You still inspire many people like me who either started running, who are running, or who just got back into running again after a long period of time. Thank you ❤
Binge watching your videos has helped me survive the post half marathon illness and blues. I just rewatched your video on Toughness and if New Balance doesn't understand the value of what you put in that video alone it is their loss. You are a pro in our hearts. Love the grind!
The beginning was great, but the ending was truly magnificent as well. They say that the dawn before the sunrise is the darkest. I believe your future will be incredibly bright. It's a beautiful thing to be able to hear someone's thought process in such detail. As someone living on the same planet, it gives me a good feeling. Thank you.
Thank you for being so vulnerable! Please contact David and Megan Roche, they've been quite vocal on their platform about the Prof running scene being broken on a financial and contractual level!
Go Phily! I just hope someone from NB was at the event last night, hearing all the cheering of your name & regretting all the exposure they have thrown away! I didn't hear anyone around me shout the name of any other runner (I actually felt sorry for them) We love everything you bring to us & the more human & vulnerable the more relatable it is, none (few) of us will ever be at your level, for us its about working at running but also loving it ❤
No judgment here. I appreciate getting to watch a small part of your journey and what keeps me coming back is the quality story telling and the personality and charisma that you project. Good luck with it all and I am looking forward to what is next.
Glad you’re taking a step back and doing your own thing, Your own way, you’ve earned it and I know you’ll be successful in whatever goals you Have Next in The Sport!
What I take away from everything is how devoted and intent you have been to the sport, clean living with sobriety, diet, pre run and post run exercises sleep etc, Also were the amazing results you achieved. I was a runner from 1974-1986 and now the past 2 years I have learned alot from you. Don't quit. And your 10k was faster than my 20 something 10k.
You're our favourite elite runner in our house. Me and my Sal love your videos and enjoy watching your progress and your running ups and downs. You are very likeable and fun, keep on being you and keep getting those PBs.
Congrats on your PB from yesterday! Streamed the race from Germany and was so happy every time I saw you. You are a big inspiration for me :) Love the grind ♥️
Phily, you are an amazing athlete and person. Removing the official “pro” reference changes nothing about your honesty, willingness to share and running talent that has already taken you to a 2:29 marathon and many other career highlights. Sound like it is time for a change for you, and just like when you came back from the U.S. and were broken, you will find a new path that takes you to your dreams and success. Continue to believe in yourself, so many do, including me and the many who look to you for inspiration.
Great way of doing this video btw, moving around video setups as you talk kept me engaged all the way through when normally I’d struggle with a lot of talking. And all the support from me for your choice in terms of leaving the pro route, I’m going to be looking forward to your videos as usual so I’m just glad you’re doing what works for you! :)
Sponsered by a brand or not you are still very much an inspiration. Your honest account of running and everything that goes along with it (eating, mental health etc) is really important and long may you continue to do what you do. Keep striving for your goals and we will all be here with you.
The word 'professional' has a different connotation today than the original meaning. The key defining point is not money, it is that one *professes* to the world that they commit themselves wholly to the work they have chosen. So, in that sense you were and still are a professional, ever since the day you first said publicly that you committed your life to running. 💜
Phily, if it feels right for you, then it's the right decision. I think you're friggin' awesome, i look forward to every one of your videos. Please keep the channel going and keep inspiring us and making us smile. Love ya!
Honestly I think this makes you even more relatable! Your opinions are more authentic and it shows us “non pros” that we can still chase our dreams without a team/company. I have seen a lot of people stepping aside and using a “normal job” to fund their life and running - that may seem more of nuisance but provides a mental break from “running 24/7”. I am so excited for the years ahead and just know there is a girl over here extremely inspired by you every day ❤
you rock, phily, regardless of being a sponsored athlete or not. you're the real deal and that is why we watch and root for you! all the best on your next endeavours! :)
The title of this video scared me!!!! l always thought that your definition of being a pro runner was giving up a desk job to work towards make the olympics. So glad that that's not what you are moving away from. And happy for you that you no longer need to race in NB's - that's the biggest win in my opinion. 😊
A really well balanced take here. I've been a runner for 19 years and run 30 marathons, but I'm a creative writer profesionally and have been for 17 years. Back in the day, when I first got into running, I was so addicted to it, I thought I should become a personal trainer and ultimately make running my whole life / personality / career. I'm so glad I didn't. The career progression in what I do and ultimately the freedom / financial flex it gives me, enables me to run when I want. And I left running as a hobby - not my entire life. I feel like I would have grown to hate it if it had become everything to me. Wishing you all the best! xx
Thank you for sharing your experience. This channel is my favorite on UA-cam by far, and that has nothing to do with being a professional. Your humor, transparency, and love of life and running is what has built your community! ❤
Like you said in your video, the most important thing is that you're happy and you appear to be happy and healthy. You will move forward a stronger and better person. I really enjoy your videos and all your wonderful coaching tips. You continue to be the wonderful you that you are. Best of luck to you and your right fantastically fast future. You are truly an inspiration to this old lady. My running has improved immensely because of you. Thank you
Many dont have the courage to even try and follow thier dreams, you have taken some huge leaps of faith, and I think that is very inspiring and admirable. As you hinted at, failure isnt final until we have given up. Really hope you can see the fulfillment of your Olympic dream, this channel is pure vibes. Keep loving the grind and chasing them dreams. ✌️
Such a big thing, but what matters the most is the words you said : you are happy. And you are still running, and I feel these are both things that matter and mean the most for us followers too, that’s what we want for you: great things and great miles! Future is unknow but surely bright Phily!
I'm so glad you haven't abandoned your Olympic dreams! I think being a pro athlete, especially in a niche sport like distance running, is like being in the arts. Most writers and actors (having been both) make very little, but people assume if you have a book published or land a lead role, you must be "set." Often very high-prestige gigs pay very little.
The fact that you make money off running in your UA-cam videos makes you a professional athlete by definition. It doesn’t matter that your income isn’t coming from a sponsor. You certainly seem to have more control over your training and racing by being a free agent, and I expect that you will do very well for yourself by continuing to build the brand of “you”. One day, you will hold all the cards and can dictate the terms of any sponsorships with big running brands. Go Philly!!
When I found your channel, I knew directly that you would become an inspiration for me. I just love your perspective on things and your character. And that won’t change. I would be happy to follow your journey on UA-cam and Instagram for many years to come 🫶🏼 Greetings from Germany ☺️
You are so inspirational! I’m constantly learning in every aspect of my life. If companies see that as failure, they’re too limited to understand women or celebrate our triumphs. I’ll be cheering for you in the Olympics!
Great video, thank you for the insight. I always thought it’s ridiculous, that running contracts cannot be openly discussed (whereas in football we know exactly how much someone earns etc). Talking about contract conditions would force the brands to actually be fair to the athletes and especially give the athletes better opportunity to stand up for themselves. Love the grind!
I'm a firm believer in "if one door closes, another one is about to open". And meanwhile just keep on running (this channel). I love watching your videos no matter if pro or not! ❤
I would love a video on the things you have done over the past 3-4 years to regain your “mojo” and confidence and consistency! I’m in pretty much the same boat as you were rn; broken down by a horrible college environment and looking to find my love for running and speed again!
Probably one of my fav videos of yours. And you might have thought the mountain analogy was cheesy but I thought it was brilliant and a crazy positive way to view the future despite the uncertainty (turn that into a YT short it should do well 😉). You offer valuable insight into the world of an elite athlete that most of will never experience but we are inspired to be better runners as a result. Carry on doing what love doing as we all love being a part of your journey 🥳👏👏👏
Thank you for sharing what you are able and allowed to. Very happy to hear we can still follow the journey of you and Daniel. Never knew all these pro contracts and settings were so “secretive” and “blurry”. Beautiful to see you keep pursuing your own goals and happiness. Wish I had so many “balls” as you in doing what you feel is good for you. Impressive and brave. I am 100% sure you will succeed. Loving the grind! ❤️
Love what you do. I’m a professional marketeer (primary source of income), semi professional musician (secondary source of income) and amateur runner (no Income). Just because you aren’t being paid to run right now doesn’t stop you being a pro. You are. It’s your profession. You are just between income streams. Love the grind.
I really enjoy watching your content, so thank you so much for putting it all out there for people to watch! I never subscribed but you now have one more on your way to 100,000! You got this Phily, keep crushin' it and we'll be here to support you!!
Pretty sure I'm not the only person here who watches because you're entertaining, brilliant, funny and inspiring. Whose shirt you're wearing is of no relevance, unless I'm loving the style and head out to get one for myself. Carry on, that girl; you're a rock star and I'll continue to subscribe regardless of your professional/amateur status. The grind is different at different times; I reckon we'll all love this one alongside you. Sending good vibes from down here in NZ.
Keep sharing your story Phily in your honest and comedic way.. that’s why we love ya and are supporting you every step of the way ❤ the grind !
I was absolutely screaming support for you near the 200m mark. Well done 🎉
This^
This guy hit the nail on the head. Couldn’t have said it better myself! Love the grind
I think the same ;)
Absolutely this! I often channel my “inner Phily” when I need a positive boost on my runs!
well said, same here.
It took me a long time, but I eventually realised it wasn't right for me, and now I'm moving in to public health, which is a much better fit for me
It was so hard to let go of that dream, and it took a lot of soul-searching, but I'm proud of myself for doing it, and I'm proud of Philly for making the right choice for her ❤
I love to hear when people aren't afraid to change course. I spent years prepping for university and went, on a path to be a mathematics professor. After 4 years, burning out, realizing it wasn't what I truly wanted, I dropped it and pursued a creative life in the photo and filmmaking world, primarily focused in the music industry. Life is wild.
Its not outgrowing your dream, its accepting its no longer attainable or realistic.
Awesome mate, very best of luck for the marathon. ✌️ You got this brother
Brilliant Trevor! I’m 63 this month and know you can run those times 👍🏼
I love how Phily basically told us with hints that New Balance wasn't paying her (other than some free shoes, whoopdy doo), while still not breaking her contract. Well done Phily!
...allegedly. Potentially.
That's usually what happens with shoe companies they give you the kit and such for free and that's it
This isn't entirely correct.
I think your model will be the one that succeeds for more people long term.
still a pro runner in my eyes!💗 You're going to crush your goals regardless
Whoever said never meet your heros obviously had the wrong heros! It was a pleasure to meet you last night Phily, I could not be more excited for you and everything that is to come, and especially glad we all get to be part of it in some small way:)
This was a beautifully honest watch. The "cringe" parts you spoke of were actually just vulnerable and wholesome. Well done PB, be proud of yourself and your journey!
yeah no cringe, only sense
Totally agree the ‘cringe’ part was totally not and personally found it quite moving ! Keep doing what you do Philly ! Love the grind and love seeing your grind ❤
Oh wow I just realized her initials are "PB." Nice initials for a runner!!!
I think you're a part of the "new" definition of a professional athlete as a content creator. Keep on crushing it.
You and Allie Ostrander are role models in our household. We are with you on this life journey.
Bedankt
Good luck Phily!! Love the content!
You are huge inspiration to me and so many runners not just as a runner but also as a person! You’re a legend and probably my favourite UA-camr rn xx
I was there. It was, the whole day/night, a brilliant time. Second the congrats on the pb. 👏
Your clothing line is some of the best in the running industry, style wise, in my opinion. Your personality and style is something big brands just can’t figure out how to infuse into their own clothing. I could see your brand in the running/athletics community becoming a recognized name. Love the Grind 🙂
Thanks
Will be following your journey down your new path!
i wish brands would support people like yourself more instead of 'influencers'. All the best and ill still be watching 🙂
Brands support so many influencers. Hateeeee it
Thanks for being so open!
Great time on the 10k yesterday and good luck on the new direction for your running career.
NB held you back. Now's your time to reap the rewardss of being an "influencer" aka getting paid a wedge to promote any/all brands you want to - thanks to the awesome following you've built!
The BEST running tuber out there 100%. We love you Phily ❤
We like 'Grind' up 'ere too! x
We’re here for you Phily no matter what. Do what’s best for you. Trust your intuition.
sending love and support from America. 🇺🇸❤️
I didn't hear anyone around me shout the name of any other runner (I actually felt sorry for them)
We love everything you bring to us & the more human & vulnerable the more relatable it is, none (few) of us will ever be at your level, for us its about working at running but also loving it ❤
No judgment here. I appreciate getting to watch a small part of your journey and what keeps me coming back is the quality story telling and the personality and charisma that you project. Good luck with it all and I am looking forward to what is next.
See you in Brisbane 32!!!!! You got this Phily
Glad you’re taking a step back and doing your own thing, Your own way, you’ve earned it and I know you’ll be successful in whatever goals you Have Next in The Sport!
Sounds like there is still plenty more to come! Thanks for being a source of inspiration and motivation for all us runners.
Do YOUR thing Ms. Bowden. Wish you much happiness and success. Period.
Love the grind, keep being you and smashing it Phily! ❤
I am so excited for the years ahead and just know there is a girl over here extremely inspired by you every day ❤
Brave decision! You get to decide if you are a pro or something that suits you better. Good luck towards yr 100 subscribers👍
you rock, phily, regardless of being a sponsored athlete or not. you're the real deal and that is why we watch and root for you! all the best on your next endeavours! :)
So incredibly bif of you to share this perspective, we really appreciate your lens into professional and semi-pro running. Wishing you all the best
Congrats on your PB at Night of the 10ks, you certainly had a loud cheer squad this year, was good to see you back on the track!
As a norther girl myself I’m so happy to hear you want to stay in Manchester, we are very honoured to have you up north ❤
Go Philly!!
Good for you!! Stay healthy continue to train and the times will come..
When I found your channel, I knew directly that you would become an inspiration for me. I just love your perspective on things and your character. And that won’t change. I would be happy to follow your journey on UA-cam and Instagram for many years to come 🫶🏼
Greetings from Germany ☺️
I didnt know you were a technical professional (Or what that even entails) but thank you for sharing thus important part of your life with us ❤
I would love a video on the things you have done over the past 3-4 years to regain your “mojo” and confidence and consistency!
Carry on doing what love doing as we all
love being a part of your journey 🥳👏👏👏
Thank you for sharing what you are able and allowed to. Very happy to hear we can still follow the journey of you and Daniel. Never knew all these pro contracts and settings were so “secretive” and “blurry”. Beautiful to see you keep pursuing your own goals and happiness. Wish I had so many “balls” as you in doing what you feel is good for you. Impressive and brave. I am 100% sure you will succeed. Loving the grind! ❤️
Love what you do. I’m a professional marketeer (primary source of income), semi professional musician (secondary source of income) and amateur runner (no
Income). Just because you aren’t being paid to run right now doesn’t stop you being a pro. You are. It’s your profession. You are just between income streams. Love the grind.
Thank for you sharing - this vid stands out for me as highly inspirational - you're no doubt a fantastic coach!
Well, as long as you and Daniel are happy, we are happy!
🎉❤
Such a brave decision. Change can be so scary, even when you feel it's the right thing to do. Good luck and I will be supporting you always ❤
