I built this kit when I was back in high school( I'm 30) and it blew me by how much fun I had with it and after all these years it still look amazing.

I had the same amount of fun building a Char's Gelgoog. Similarly looking suit that should have been rather boring but was actually pretty fun to build.
The MG Rick Dom was my first Master Grade kit, and the hands just blew me away. So much fun. But yeah, this original Dom seems to have a lot more stuff; the Rick Dom just had the one enormous beam bazooka and didn't have the rocket bazooka w/ gunshield, the machine gun, or the ammo. Don't recall if it had the sturmfausts...
Do you still buy gundam kits just asking
The plain styling also makes it look more anime accurate since this is from the old MSG show.
I'd kill for an updated MG Dom. It's easily my favourite Mobile Suit.

Scattering Beam Gun
The scattering beam gun is a beam weapon mounted in the left side of the Dom's chest. As an offensive weapon the scattering beam gun is completely incapable of damaging an enemy machine. The likely reason is that the scattering beam gun has a very cheap and small focusing coil, even more so than the beam spray gun used by the RGM-79 GM, which causes the mega-particles of the beam to lose all cohesion. Though it cannot do any damage it does produce a bright light that is capable of momentarily blinding eyes and visual sensors.

For those who haven't tried it with their sanding marks, if you have any plastic polish for headlights (PlastX I think is Meguiar's brand for plastic products), it polished them to nearly original sheen so it looks as though nothing was there in the first place. Probably any plastic polish for headlights would work for sanding/seared together sections with tamiya/other brand glues to make for limited seams. I found it works quite well with the backpack boosters on my Gouf 2.0.

The Dom really needs more love. It needs a true HGUC revive kit and a new MG.
For some reason when I saw for the first time in the OG gundam anime I liked the Dom, it's simple but I like the shade it has. Also I even imagine that it comes with that many accessories, and now we're getting a new MG Dom so I'll be waiting for it
The hole in the chest is a flasher its a bright light used to stun other mobile suits as the dom closes in for close combat or for the kill
for making those attachment point for all the bits you can't really hang onto on the kit itself, you could use a ms-09f dom tropen for reference it's spot on as to what you thought for the placement for ammo n whatnot

yesterday was my 10 year old brothers bday i got him his firt kit the 1/144 HG Dom, he loves gundam thanks to me and he loves the dom! that so funny you put this video up on his bday
The thing on the dom's chest flashes an enemy to "stun" them. The light is also yellow (just a fun fact)

That in his chest below the circular thing is to diffuse the beam, is to let the opponent lens temporarily crash, can not be used.
I really want this kit, it looks nice and simple and the inner frame seems very nice from what I've seen. I'll get him, one day....
Though I might just jet the hguc dom tropen tan color.
Feel like a Dom could make a cool “Darth Vader” version with a black and dark gray paint scheme and a red heat saber.

Still a good kit despite the age. I built mine way back with slight modifications.
I don't know about a Dom 2.0, but we are long overdue for a variation of the Dom in MG form such as the Rick Dom II or the Dom Tropen. Heck, I will settle for an RE version.

I really don't get why people order comissions. Isn't the point of gunpla to build and customize it yourself? Anyways, I was on the fence about this kit but now I think I'll try to grab one and possibly the detail up thrusters and hands to fix the soft plastic issue.

hopefully the guy will get back to you, maybe he had Internet problems or something? I'm sure you could sell any of your kits on here though mate if you needed to because they always turn out really good

We waited that much , we now know that we'll get a 2.0 , is it the one we needed a od it? idk , I wished for a Ez8 2.0 or gouf custom 2.0 , or a HG Aries , but hey , still happy about it

I wonder if they are planning on making master grades for the Origin series.. they gave us already a MG RX 78-02 origin version, so hopefully we can expect either a Char's Zaku Origin MG? Otherwise, this kit looks so neat :O !

I've always liked Zeon mobile suits over Gundams. Zakus, Doms, Sazabi, Kampfer, itsbjust the badass mono eye that gets me.

When it comes to Gunpla commissions I always ask for half up front, so if I have to buy the kit myself that will cover at least it and most of the supplies.
Unlikely they will ever do a MG DOM 2.0 cause this kit is pretty much on point.
Dom Test Type in MG form would be dope tho. I hope they make more MG from the Origin series
Paolo Dumlao since the Origins is getting a reboot "Mobile Suit Gundam The Origin Series (Movie)" probably they are c: + like the Zaku One maybe out too with a new refresh Origin series Char's Zaku 2 is pretty detailed on the High Grade but hopefully the make it into the MG because the The Origin Series RX-78-2 is out (the one with the shoulder canon thing)
Bandai should just do MG Dom Tropen
I'd rather have a master grade of the MS-09R-2 Rick Dom II from 0080 and 0083.

For the connection point for the arm for the mg dom i got, the connection joint always falls off when i try to pose it.
you should give the giant bazooka from this kit to the MG High Mobility Zaku II Robert Gilliam custom that you're getting from P-Bandai so it can have two giant bazookas.
I'm thinking about some different options~ I think I have something else in mind ;)

I had assumed someone else would have said it already but I don't see it... the "thingy" on the chest is supposed to be a very powerful flash/floodlight, used by the Black TriStars (and I assume other Dom pilots) to blind the sensors of other Mobile Suits, as shown here at 01:00 in MSG:

Ah, ok. In that scene it doesn't look like it's doing much damage... I guess it's an early form of the scattering beam cannons (like the ones on the chest and binders of the Kshatriya)?

We get MG Barbatos then a P,Bandai MG Barbatos with additional gimmicks, but can't give us a Dom 2.0 😞

If this came out in 1999 then why does it have the 2.0 master grade hands?
It doesn’t, these hands are different and not molded together. Check the unboxing
