Making Espresso With Prismo at Fellow Store in San Francisco

- We spent a morning in San Francisco visiting a brand new store of Fellow Products. They are known for their well-designed kettles and coffee brewers but we came to test their new tool called Prismo. It should enable us to make close to espresso shots with a regular AeroPress. Let's see!

“...to reduce the distance between us and our customers to basically zero.” and I’m watching this post Covid.
I wish it were post Covid. It’s still mid-COVID here in Texas. 😢
@@humanhelp3969 We're getting there!
Where in the world is it post covid? We are very much still in it.
Just watching this today after drawing a shot with my new prismo. My ratios were off but it made a great espresso-like strong brew. Extraction was really nice! Will try again later after this caffeine wears off. Can't wait to visit their shop one day. Love this vid and the channel. Peace from Java Island
Just got the prison today, first try was prefect. more creme than I thought I would get. Better Espresso than I get at most restaurants. Only the nespresso is better, thicker creme. But I am sold on the Prismo now. Well worth the money.
Sorry I meant the Prismo not prison. You really can't get good coffee in prison.
@@truthbknown4957 im dying, lmao
How fine is the coffee grind?
Two Wild and Crazy Guys!
Thank you for making this video. I have found this product just recently and I have been somewhat skeptical about it but your video validates the promises of the prismo. I will buy that soon for sure.
Yes, we were also rather skeptical but it really delivers on its promise. It is way more complicated (you need to dial in coffee and be much more precise) than a regular AeroPress but it is a product worth of testing.
Thank you for the video guys. I’m looking forward to trying out the prismo soon after watching your video. 👍
Awesome! We will be testing it more in our office so you can look forward to more detailed review soon:)
She's nice
Like I still said. Fellow ist Apple in coffee stuff 😂 I like it
This Aeropress filter thingie gives me hope for my leaky Aeropress....P.S. I WANT THAT SHIRT! (where's it from?)
very good idea I know it will take off
Great video! Love the Fellow products! 😍 Got the Stagg copper kettle at home!
Great to hear! We would love to have their electric kettle, it would fit nicely in our office!:)
Got it in the mail today from the Kickstarter campaign. And it is fantastic. Is it possible to use it in any way for coffee? Do you have any suggestions
Hey Knut! Perfect. I think Fellow have more recipes on their website - you should be able to use it any way you want - the difference makes the coffee/water ratio and the grind size.
I bet that’s a strong shot. Love the inverted method the best. Alway great Vids. Good folks at Fellow.
Hello, what kind of cup did you put your espresso coffee? min 05:45
cool, hmm I think I am going to order this
Nice! Or you can come to our office to test it out first. As you know, you are always welcome.
I want to try this so bad
Go for it:)
One in a t-shirt and the other in a sweater and winter hat?
Extra douchy
does it matter which way the filter is facing? when on top of the aeropress, and the aeropress is upside down, should the filter logo face up or the aeropresso?
Could you please ask Hanna where she got her shirt from? I love it.
Haha! We asked her in a separate email - she should answer directly here.
Hi guys! I know this is a strange request, but i'm still waiting! Please help :D
@@EuropeanCoffeeTrip still waiting
lol 2yrs
4 years still waiting
I am just curious if the shot is terrible what they will say in front of FELLOW staffs
Haha, you are right! It was not the case though. We can always decide not to edit and publish the video as it was not part of any campaign or commercial collaboration. The truth is we haven’t replicated that good testing coffee in our office:)
I doubt very much that the pull from the Prismo is bad, I suspect that it makes an excellent cup of very strong coffee, as the mokka express can do. It’s just next impossible to get the 6 to 9 bars of consistent pressure one needs to get a full extraction of the flavor, just by pushing straight down, hence the levers on the Pavoni, The Roc and the Flair machines. No argument that the Prismo can increase the extraction, and coffee can be really tasty, strong and rich, but, like the Bialetti Moka, it’s “almost” espresso, but actually not. Close, but no cigar.
does the expelled coffee ever have a hint of crema ? for example when you stir it there's heaps! but after the plunge, it's gone. Nice production.
How coarse was coffee ground. Would you say you'd need to go finer using the Prismo?
Espresso grind. Almost as fine as you can if you would use a home grinder.
European Coffee Trip after using it for a couple of day, I found it hard to get a good crema. I followed the default recipe from the video. Any tips?
I tried this using the finest grind and the result coffee was not clean enough.
Thanks for the tips
She's gorgeous!
Hey! Love the product, trying to source it in the UK atm. What brand of espresso cups are they using as they look cool
Don't know if this comment will get picked up 3 yrs after the fact but wondering if you still love the prismo?
How fine should I grind?
50 millimeters of water? que?
Will they be available in Europe?
Great questions. Guys are finishing the last bits before they can ship it. Unfortunately, you will need to wait until early 2018.
Hope they will offer international shipping!
My prismo arrived 3 days ago at Jakarta, Indonesia. So yes, they do international shipping
How much did shipping cost?
AppleIsraelHelp for me, it is the same as the price of Prismo. Should vary on each destination
The primso is not really useful imo. If you want to make "expresso like" coffee you could just use an expresso grind with a filter paper, pour some water on top, aim for a 1/2 or 1/3 ratio and you will achieve cleaner cups. And you would not have to deal with a prolonged cleanup afterwards.
How many clicks on the Comandante would you typically use for the Prismo?
I'll use sth between 8 and 12 depending on coffee roast
Majestic Buttshark I tried that! I still got something very sour and unpleasant. I had better results with just the standard filter pieces... maybe that’s just what it is. I also noticed it was very easy for me to push down, so I thought maybe it wasn’t fine enough. Went finer to 6-8 and still had bad results.
I'm getting the same pressure as if I just did a fine grind with the regular set up
kind of expensive) it costs like my two aero kit )
but looks like wotrht it
We filmed a comparison video about espresso with AeroPress (Prismo and Joepresso). Perhaps it is worth to watch that once we publish it - it should be in a few weeks!
Espresso grind?
Yes! As you want to get espresso like taste that would make sense, right?
What about using the upside down Aeropress method?
It would be the same but you don’t need to use it as coffee doesn’t go through Prismo until you press it.
I wonder if it was wrecking ball coffee....
What's that neat grinder looking machine that's sitting on the back table at 1m55s in the video?
obecalp211 I believe that was a Mazzer ZM grinder
Hey, it is either Mahlkoenig EK43 or Acaia Orion (automatic doser). Hope you have enjoyed the video.
Thanks for your comment but I am afraid you are wrong about that. See my comment.
It’s an Acai autodossing machine, it basically is only good for companies who bag a lot of coffee
name of the song? 6:55
Great recipe to ME
Both these dudes calling it eXpresso...
Cuz its fast!
It is the French word for espresso, after all.
Why is Hanna in such a rush when she's pressing the Aeropress?
Why would I use coffee fresher than a week? If your device cannot produce Crema, don't pitch it. But using such fresh coffee is jsut bad advice, it will taste awful.
Another expert who dosen't know what he's talking about.
i'm focus with the woman..
They make excellent coffee but it isn't even remotely espresso-like.
You got to play with it more. maybe not enough coffee , maybe too much water. I will admit It's not quite as good as a well made espresso, but you has to have someone who knows how to make a proper espresso in the first place.
i have a prismo and it is basically metallic reusable filter. nothing else. if u want espresso like coffee, look elsewhere. i also don't get the whole aeropress thing, i only use it,when I don't want to wait for espresso machine to heat up, clean it and all other stuff and want the dose of caffein. the coffee with aeropress is not a good coffee. it is a coffee that u make when u can't get an espresso. that's about it...
It's all a matter of taste. I wouldn't call aeropress coffee espresso and I think it would be wise if the manufacturer stopped referring to it as an "espresso maker" on the packaging. It's a recipe for disappointment for people who want espresso. However, many people like aeropress coffee. I'm a bit divided about that. I like the concentrated shots you can make with an aeropress -- not espresso, but it shares certain qualities -- but I don't like to mix the concentrate with hot water, as Mr. Adler recommends. I simply don't like it, it's too watery for my taste. I prefer drip for a bigger but less concentrated cup.
You are not doing it right. Aeropress produces a great cup of coffee. You are addicted to Expresso. Aeropress doesn't make Expresso, BUT it does make a great cup of coffee.
@@herbertnelsonjr.9899 and that is what I love about the Aeropress. With a espresso machine you can make, well espresso. If not done correctly or the right tamp, grind, one legged blond not hopping correctly you have, well bad espresso. And as the coffee Nazi's always want to point out " Its Not Espresso!".
Well no shit Shirley.
But there are so many variables one can use with the Aeropress. I love my coffee snobs when I serve them Folgers after I run it through my grinder then a way I pour and extract. It may not be espresso but no one has ever said it was bad. And the Don Pedro Mexican canned Robusta that is cheap is drinkable after some blending and Aeropressing. Just making a Mr Coffee pot of that stuff would gag a maggot off a gut waggon.
Liquids are not measured in grams. Gram is for dry materials. Liquids are measured in milliliters. They are not the same.
Isn’t the 20:50 coffee/water ratio a bit low? I am getting quite small amount of shot. I usually top it off with water for an Americano. Any word on this would be truly appreciated.
Well, that’s the ratio to use when brewing Espresso style coffee with the AeroPress (&Prismo)
