This album, The Mantle, is absolutely legendary. You should do a full reaction to it. Time seems to bend around that album every time I listen to it.
Love your comment dude! I feel exactly the same !!!
They need to react to "falling snow". All of agalloch's music is amazing though. So much that had to make my name on youtube after one of their songs haha
Yes! Amazing way to put that.
I'm so bummed I never got to experience agalloch live at any point in my life
Time bends around this?! That means it bends gravity. Yup, the mortal mass of this album, is immense indeed…you nailed it, man!
Sori gave a 10 to this and a 10 to Harlequin Forest. Sori understands.
Well c'mon....Vin is a KORN fan afterall. How COULD he understand? :)
Still, he gave Burzum a 9, so he can't be discredited.
Sori is woke af
@@W4r34rt burzum fucking sucks ass compared to agalloch

The Pale Companion is obviously Death, don't know how you missed it. He's contemplating his existence in the face of his mortality.
Chinmoy Sarma They miss obvious references all the time in order to fit a more Christian one into its place.
Wouldn't a pale Death be pretty Christian, since the whole "He rides a pale horse / And his name is Death" part of the bible?
Yeah I'm fed up with their "cramming christianity into EVERYTHING where it doesn't fit". I came here for the reaction to the music and I'm getting a lyric analysis that is to me always ruined by them forcing god into every sentence... Like at the beginning where Sori commented on atheists defining themselves as such so they must be connected to god FACE PALM. I get it that you react to lyrics, because they are controversial a lot, but please at least do a proper analysis if you have to, otherwise stick to the music; also learn to distinguish from lyrics that are there just to fill the vocals and actual poetry; metal tends to have TONS of lyrics nobody cares about, not even the band...
The only reason I still watch these is because of the awesome songs that are being chosen and because Sori has a good taste.
They misrepresent so many things. Like how nihilism preaches worthlessness. It doesn't. It just says there's no absolute morality or reason to life. You can still life an incredibly meaningful life just not with divine given reason.
mormacil Agreed. I stand behind my claim that they lack philosophical knowledge as they are trying so hard with the lyrical analysis. I say, if you like analyzing literature content, then you SHOULD educate yourself in philosophy and history related to the content AT MINIMUM to understand it.
The mantle, album reaction!!!!!!

One of the reasons I love folk metal, viking metal and black metal so much is how much is celebrates the beauty of our world. This is a relatively simple song, but its lyrics and music speak with the voice of a world, filled with beauty but also with great pain and sadness. A true masterpiece of a song. 10/10. This is the song you show to people who think black metal is all ugly and satanic. It is not. Black metal is as deep and complex as any other genre of metal.
You know what else evokes similar emotions? Wintersun-Loneliness (Winter).
Agalloch is still definitely black metal. You can deny it if you want, but its still black metal. Its not 100% black metal of course. Its also doom metal, folk metal and even some post metal thrown in there (which is why I guess people drew correlations between them and Deafhaven). Alot of Emperor is not ugly. No, I'm sorry but I can't agree with you on this one. To much evidence to the contrary.
I agree with you Khellendross, black metal can definitly be beautiful.
I’m not sure of the classifications, I do know beauty when I see it though!
Steampunker X
you probably didn't listen gallowbraid. in expressing evilness, darkness and coldness with a bit of melancholy black metal works way better. Despair, depression is for doom metal. Nothing is soul crushing like despair or grief, and it works better with doom metal. Black was allways about negative, destructive things and emotions
listened to wittr. Love it :)
I always thought that when you talked about a "pale companion" that is the personification of death in literature.
In the bible Death rides a pale horse...
It's happening! [Insert gif here]
I requested this 70 times myself, along with all the other people doing it.. good thing the Alliance got it done, good job guys.
I hope you do more Atmospheric Black Metal. It is my favourite genre.

I love to see them react so Saor, they are my favorite band.
I'd love more people to listen to Fen. Mainly Carrion skies.
Prefer them to Saor., I can't get on with the vocals

Agalloch - Falling snow
This album is an untouchable masterpiece. Probably the best post black metal album ever. But it's not 'kvlt' at all. It's actually folk metal with black metal influences. Some similar albums are Sunbather by Deafheaven and Two Hunters by Wolves in the throne room.
Lyrical themes deal with personal loss and nature.
Wolves in the Throne Room are fantastic!
having heard Deafhaven (as much as I could stomach without wanting to run screaming from the room) I can say there is almost no similarities between them and Agalloch. Not sure about Wolves in the Throne Room, I want to say they are in that same genre space as Deafhaven but I don't want to speak out of turn. Agalloch to me has much more in common with Windir and other black metal acts that lean heavily on folk influences. This song is a masterpiece.
Yea. Deafhaven not really. If you want similar, try Falls of Rauros, Gallowbraid, Saor, Panopticon, October Falls, some of the first Woods of Ypres albums.
Panopticon and Woods of Ypres are both awesome. I'll note those other ones and probably do a reaction to one at some point. of those 4 you mentioned that I haven't heard, which one is the best and what would be a good song suggestion?
From October Falls try the song named II, I think that's their best
Bathory - Oden Rides Over Nordland + A Fine Day to Die
Sori, it is totally ok to laugh at atheists! In my experience it's a lot more difficult, and sometimes even dangerous, to laugh at believers..
Well played! -Sori🤘🏻
yes ... we made it .. thanks so much you patreons .. was asking for agalloch every once in a while in the youtube comments :)
one of the best active BM bands. Though reaction to their main influence Ulver would be nice
they are not active anymore unfortunatly
I love how Sori is becoming this well rounded black metal connoisseur. No other reaction channels are going this route. Makes me proud.
Just...Wow! What a beautiful song. Thanks for this. Seriously, holy Lord! It's so fucking powerful. Great discussion also.
Only Metal can give you this type of art of music and story.
Wow this was amazing. Well worth the wait! Awesome music and vibe!
They need to react to some Alcest. From Ecailles De Lune preferably!
ThatTallGuy Part 1&2 together...🙏
Definitely agree, would be f*ing amazing!
I see a few Alcest requests now, so I would guess they will react soon. Oiseaux de Proie and Ecailles De Lune pt 1 or 2 would be my suggestions, something that really showcases Alcest.
Absolutely! Alcest needed.
ThatTallGuy Alcest is not even in the same multi-verse as Agalloch. Du musst hier weg! Bist du verrückt?!! Agalloch über alles. Scheiß-Französisch 🤮
FINALLY U DID THIS SONG!! THANKS ALOT VIN AND SORI
This was my recommendation in the trve kvlt group and has been a favourite of mine for years but watching Sori experience that for the first time, eyes closed and feeling the music, is the closest I've gotten to reliving that moment where I first discovered it myself. Chills all over.
Now on to the breakdown but this video is a new favourite for that alone
Oh man I've been wanting this!! I 100% knew Sori would love the hell out of this! Boy was I right. This album is one of my favorites, lots of discussion of nature, God, and man overall.
You should listen to the whole album it's an experience.
I don't get this view, honestly. What's so bad about life not having purpose? I never tried to fill my life with meaning, it's just as meaningless as ever. I just figured, since this life is all I have, might as well have a good time and make other people have a good time. Find something I like doing and keep doing that. I don't understand why people waste their lives worrying about life not having purpose. We're all gonna die, who knows when, why not spend that indefinite and insignificant amount of time enjoying it? Why waste it?
Life is meaningful and meaningless at the same time, depends how you interpret it.
I'm a norse pagan and I love this channel lol. Do you think I could recommend a song? It's called "The Magic of Nature" by Elderwind. It's so beautiful and I would love to see the reaction of you both. You'll be able to find the lyrics on Song Meanings website.
here's an excerpt:
Chill again fills
His breathing world ,
And on the glass leaves
Slight traces of frost .
Silence throughout the county,
Not buzzing swarm of bees ,
Only wolves echoed blizzard
Under the North Star.
ua-cam.com/video/J-lBSJtWm_U/v-deo.html
I love those lines. They're so comfy.
"Im a norse pagan" I knew elderwind was coming lmao. I think you dont know what you believe frankly.
To address your first point (and I truly hope you see this) about atheists "defining" themselves as such I think shows a serious misunderstanding of what it's like to be an atheist for most of us. You used the example of not believing in fairies but that doesn't work because not believing in fairies is the standard. There are no shrines to fairies scattered all over cities, you weren't raised to believe in fairies and had to make a conscious realisation to step away from that without knowing how it would affect your family who raised you to believe in these fairies and believe that you are dooming yourself to eternal damnation by not believing in them... The landscape is changing but many atheists had to fight a serious uphill battle to get to where they are today and still feel a need to assert and comfort one another that "this is ok" because they've been raised in an environment that demonizes their way of life.
Ok fair
Interesting story, I feel like not believing in God, church, miracles is the new norm in Europe, where I am from. I believe reason why Black Metal is so assertively anti-Christian, because in most minds Christ is a fictional character. My own experience has been such that people do not understand why I go to church and pray every sunday. Social currents change don't they ? :D
The "new" norm maybe (although even that depends on where you are - for example it certainly isn't in Poland or in certain states of the US). It's possible that many in the current generation may not have to deal with this to the same extent but I feel rather confident in saying that, for many adult atheists right now, this is a pretty fair representation of what many went through.
It's difficult coming to terms with the fact that some people you care about will suddenly see you in a lesser light due to this fact and there are some people you just outright try and hide it from for as long as possible for this very reason.
Yes. Religion was the first. Like Hitchens said, it was our first attempt at philosophy, our first attempt at science, at understanding the world we live in, our first attempt at morality. So it had a huge role in shaping history and it does make sense to define yourself in opposition to it because people understand what it means to be part of it. I think there has never been any evidence for the supernatural but I have no problem with Christians who are good people. I really like Jordan Peterson too, I agree with him on prob 95% of issues, just not this one.
You make a great point here, as I was also pretty turned off by the whole "fairy" example as well.
I think the main problem with Atheism is that it is often misunderstood solely as a belief that God does not exist. I understand that that is literally what Atheism translates to, but unfortunately there is a very broad spectrum of people that identify as Atheists mistakenly. There are the Atheists that literally believe that no God of any sort exists due to there being no scientific evidence, but unfortunately most of them are very "greater than thou"/condescending towards anyone believing any religion and would quickly take away everyone's right to religion in a very authoritarian way if they could. However, I believe an overwhelming majority of Atheists aren't such by the literal definition. For example, a lot of Atheists are probably more Agnostic while being against any organized religion and their dogmatic nature, simply believing there is a God or higher power (or MAYBE there is) that no organized religion has any sort of monopoly on.
The TL:DR version is that even though Atheism literally means "the belief that a God(s) does/do not exist", an overwhelming majority of Atheists don't feel this way exactly and really just do not adhere to believing any of the religions of the world "have it right", and believe the truth of a higher being or power can never be fully understood or realized by any human.
Man, this is such an important song for me. This is a song that opened a lot of avenues of different types of music for me. It was the first song that had a black metal influence that really got me interested in furthering my discovery of other bands like this. The sense of melody they use is just so enticing and they were also a band that experimented with their sound yet you could still identify it as an Agalloch song.
It’s a shame that John and the rest of the band couldn’t see eye to eye anymore but it looks like we’re getting two new (and very different!) bands from Agalloch’s ashes with Pillorian and Khorada. The metal media has really been praising the Khorada album. I’m really looking forward to checking that band out
i just loved obsidian arc! it has a much heavier tune, compering to agalloch.
but didnt really feel connected to khorada
THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS. The best black metal, I feel, is about nature and the beauty of the world.
Each day I could see the changes
Each day I became more extreme
I understood how the sight of nature
Could inspire the sound of machines
I am equal parts blood and ice
I am just as much man as tree
Through chaos and solitude I came
To become this black metal being
YAY FINALLY!
That poetry is actually lyrics of a song by Woods of Ypres - Through chaos and soilitude. Another band definitely worth checking out.
A Z That’s the worst Woods song, though...

However this is not Black Metal ;)
John Haughm is the mastermind of Agalloch, who has since sadly parted ways. But he now has another group Pillorian that is quite amazing as well. He would probably be willing to talk with you guys...Caught them on tour with Wolves In the Throne Room last year. You definitely need to check out Wolves... I Will Lay down my Bones Amongst the Rocks and Roots is majestic! They hone the wilderness aesthetic like Agalloch.
WITTR are great! (I alwais felt conected to them, being a metalhead running a organic farm myself ;-) ).
Weakling, too, who are a main influence for WITTIR!
Josh Jennings the other members of Agalloch formed Khorada
I'm not sure if it's really fair to say Haughm is the only mastermind. Anderson, Walton and Dekker are just as important to the songs' atmospheric feeling that convey the message John is trying to get across. They were all brilliant in their own ways. Agalloch was more of synergistic structure than a figurehead thing.
If somebody defines themself as an atheist it means they don't have belief in *any* gods. It also often means they don't belive in the supernatural in general, altho not always. I think it's a bit self centered to assume these people define themselves by disbelief in just YOUR particular God. To me atheism seems to be the default position and not the other way around. You don't belive in Zeus by default either.
The atheism discussion was ridiculous.
Atheism is the belief there is no god or supreme being. It has inherently nothing to do with spirituality or other beliefs in supernatural beings. One could be an atheist and believe the Tuatha are real. It's unlikely as most vocal atheist are pro science and refuse anything to unscientific but the label atheist is purely based on being sure there is no god.
Pantheism is not Atheism. Pantheism is adorate God by seeing and worship God´s creation: Fire, Water, Wood, Stone, Wind. Everything is God, so God is not dead. God is here and has been always here, regardless your own personal Messiah (Jesus, Jehova, Krishna, Buddha, etc.)
@@mormacil one thing. Atheist does not mean being SURE there is no god, it means that you lack belief in god, or in detail it is the negation of theism which is that you have some belief in god. Now being sure about it means you are a gnostic atheist, while most of atheists are agnostic atheists, which means we are still open to disscussion, evidence, etc, i.e. we are still scientifically sceptical of our philosophies regarding lack of belief in god. Thats all :)
@@berserker8884 agnostic and atheist are mutually exclusive positions. Either you have doubts but no belief or you don't belief with a doubt.
Gnosticism is a religion, partially derived from Christianity.
I'm so glad you reacted to Agalloch. This band means a lot to me. They have so many good songs that make me feel i'm in another world by just closing my eyes. Even if you can't make a reaction video, these are some of their songs you should give a try.

Sori, funny you mentioned about how inspiring this band is, I did about four of my most epic pieces of art when I discovered this band, especially this album. I just got lost for about a week of indulging in their music in my studio.
Yes! One of my favorite songs by my favorite band of all time!
I think is not searching for a religious but his own spiritual and personal higher power
Exactly, is the search of being philosophically a "superman" meaning to embrace mortality and live along with it. Something that the main character of the song sadly fails to do
Love you guys! And love this song too! Glad you enjoyed it!
Yay! The one I've been asking for a lot

You need to listen ALCEST. For sure.
What if the 'Pale Companion' is Depression, and this song is about a man trying to find an out to his depression via God and Nature, but he kills himself in the end because he can never fully defeat his 'Pale Companion'.
Kind of how I have always felt about this song. I find something strangely cathartic about it.
You wouldn't believe how much this means to me, this is my favourite album ever, even just writing about it gets me kinda emotional, thank you so much for reacting to it, made my day.
I've never been so excited to see a video hit my notifications! Not sure how this is going to go but I'm going to enjoyed it either way LOL
The poet (John Haughm) doesn't specify which God he's talking about. He uses a very nebulous definition, 'if xyz is what you call god, then god is not dead' which is quite vague and can be applied to all gods, and also no god. Further, just defining something which most definitely exists, such as mountains and trees and god, and claiming that god exists is meaningless. The god of the scriptures has still not been demonstrated to exist.
Why atheists have to claim to be so out in public? Because believers have been drowning out our voices.
Gee I don't know man, last time checked there were no TV channels dedicated to Atheism, No mega churches preaching Atheism, no Atheist songs playing loudly on speakers when you go out on the street, no Atheist coming door to door at odd hours to disturb you. Do the math.
It's about the spiritual philosophy of Pantheism, the belief that God is everything, and everything is God. Pantheists accept all religious deities, as they are simply further expressions the God at the core of our reality. This is best explained in the following line;
"Here at the edge of this world
Here I gaze at a pantheon of oak, a citadel of stone
If this grand panorama before me is what you call God
Then God is not dead"
Technically, our perception of reality is, itself, God.
I thought what he meant by “if this great panorama before me is what you call god” is nature. Since he said he was surrounded by a pantheon of oak and a citadel of stone.
The reason why atheists or agnostics define themselves as such is because it's a way of saying we exist and can be morally grounded and inclusive. The reason why the topic of God comes up is because having faith is often brought up as the moral compass. Because of the majority/minority differences in numbers we are forced to have religion shoved in our faces often, through laws that favor one specific religion over the others or lack of religion. It affects us all even when we don't believe in a deity because a majority do believe and hold us to litmus tests in different settings while trying to claim moral superiority. So just like people say black lives also matter or LGBTQ deserves to be treated like the rest of us, people who aren't faith based feel they have to also raise awareness that we are human and deserve social and civil equality as well.
You are coming off smug and condescending to those who are not people of faith.
"You are coming off smug and condescending to those who are not people of faith."
He does in every video he refers to atheists. Somehow his zombie jesus cult makes him a morally superior and more enlightened, so he can show a smirk of contempt at the camera. Nothing more than his mental masturbation.
Your trve kvlt bois did good suggesting this one! Finally showing some love to a black metal influenced American band!
Thank you for doing a reaction on Agalloch! :) When i was in school +-10 years ago, we had to do a presentation on our favorite song, and this was the one i picked. :)
Agalloch - Not Unlike the Waves is another great one
Agalloch is the band of my life!! It made me love music in another level, buy a guitar, start to learn, create, have more feeling for life. The atmosphere created by this band is unique. You can call it black metal, folk, anything, I simply call it AGALLOCH!! They are unique, thanks for reacting to them.
Great reaction! Love Vin’s philosophical references!
YEEESSS!! Agalloch is my spirit animal!! thanks for this!
I love Agalloch, and mainly this song, I love how the part around 12.20(on thsi video) seems like a running clock, like the passage of time. For someone in search of a life meaning the perception of the passage of time while being unable to achieve it can be pretty violent.
This review and discussion made my evening. I discovered Agalloch about 5 years ago and became enthralled with their mastery of emotional soundscapes. A single song, like this one, can pull out so many emotions. A true sonic journey. This type of metal, and these musicians in Agalloch, pull inspiration from a pagan, pre-Christian world, and point of view, hence the focus on trees, landscapes, seasons and nature in their music. However, the search and longing for God, and a meaning to life are so apparent to me in this music. Just because one may not believe in the one True God, doesn't mean that He cant work through them... this art, this song, is testament to this. At least for me. Thank you both for sharing this song with us.
I am really late to this in nearly 2021 but thank you two for this. Vin's analysis is really philosophical. Love the religious perspective which is apparently hand in hand with the channel, which i subscribed to. Thanks again.
Welcome!!
Music for the soul, this guys really touch your soul when you hear them... great inspiration for me to make my music.

This is the kind of stuff I’d love to see Lost in Vegas react to. Atmospheric Black Metal is my favourite genre and it definitely deserves more love and praise
Love the review. One of my favorite bands.

Great video! ❤ very interesting
Thanks a LOT for doing this. If you guys rated this one 10/10 I think you will give each Agalloch song the same rating.

Very nice reaction, you guys gave me a new perspective upon this song, Thank you! I met with John Haughm (the mastermind behind Agalloch) in a concert here in Brazil. He's such a nice guy! Every song he wrote is soul touching. Agalloch is my favorite band and I'm so happy that more people are getting to know this awesome and magical band, I'd like to recommend reacting to She Painted Fire Across The Skyline, parts 1 to 3 in one go. It's a magical experience! Thanks you very much for this, I'm so happy that you liked it!
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i love you guys!! Agalloch has been one of my favorite bands for 15 years and this is one of their best songs. they subscribe to the idea of "pantheism" which is the belief that evrything, in it's own way, is god. they (and i) see aspects of the greater god in everything, working harmoniously. and sori, props for taking the lead on this reaction.
Finally! I was probably the first one that suggested this song, nobody was asking for Agalloch at that time. Took a while but thank you!
Been awhile since Ive heard this song. Forgot how majestic it was. Thanks for the reminder!
agalloch! im so glad you reacted to them! "not unlike the waves" is another great song. :D
Beautiful song. There are various points I want to lay to contrast your opinion. First, when Sori says that nature is not God but its proxy, the Aztecs have it solved. They have a figure called Moyocoyatzin, which means "the one that created himself". In this view, God is the universe so god, when he created himself, created the universe. In this sense, God is everything that is, including human beings. Second point. When you guys says that upon the realization that God does not exist as imagined (as an external entity), humans feel empty. The same happens when we as kids realize that Santa does not exist, but it helps us grow and mature because we realize that the love of our parents is Santa, so instead of worshiping a non-existing being, we develop a deeper love for the ones that care of us, and we pay it forward. Well, that exactly is what Nietzche is aiming for: our mind sets must evolve until humans realize that we don't need religion to tell us what to do 'cause the universe (trees, galaxies, neutrinos, us) has the knowledge. We only need to discover its laws and develop our mind sets accordingly.
Oh man, I LOVE me some Agalloch. The perfect study music.
Wow! You guys are on fire tonight! Zenith now this classic! We’re Not worthy, lol.
I have been waiting for this one! I LOVED this reaction and interpretation. Again, you guys are what the modern world needs. When I get back from my (very expensive but hopefully amazing trip to Italy), I will definitely become a proud patreon 😀😍
Sori, you mentioned that this music makes you want to create art... This is the band I put on when I paint 😉
While I'm tempted to say something like "damn, didn't see that coming, great!" it's more on the side of not being unexpected considering the constant requests for Agalloch for like months on end haha, great reaction, cool discussion as usual! You should definitely check out Aquilus, somewhat similar atmospheric epic metal stuff like this and with great lyrics as well that I'd love to see breakdown of. Maybe either "Loss" or "Nihil", would be really amazing to see.
What you said about "being patient about developing their music" is really nice to hear, since being patient enough to think like that as a listener tells that you can appreciate it and understand the subtle progressions since when it's about creating atmospherics, you can't be too hasty ^^
Keep up the great work!
Tsujigiri AQUILUS YEESSSSS. The metalstorm community loved that album when it came out AND WITH GOOD REASON smokefall is another beautiful song from that album I hope they get a chance to hear this incredibly talented 1 man band reminds me of falkenbach in that sense
Griseus is perfection!
Aquilus is very great. My favorite would be Smokefall tho !
I can't wait for you guys to discover Architects' material. There is so much in there for you to discover, touch and feel. One day you'll feel it and hopefully it will touch you as much as it did me.
Check out: Architects - 'These Colours Don't Run' When you are at that point. "Architects - Memento Mori [Piano + Vocal Cover by Lea Moonchild] Tribute to Tom Searle" is a beautiful one to listen to once you have dived more into the band to really feel the intensity and importance of that song.
Love from The Netherlands.
Unearthlywhales agree 10000% been saying Architects since the beginning
Came as soon as I saw the notification \m/
You guys found a hidden gem. I would always listen to this song!
Congratulations, you two are now part of a select group of humans who have heard the best song ever composed! You are right about the nature worship, Agalloch has this theme of a pagan, "heathen" pantheism in many songs. The pale companion is simply death, I don't think it has anything to do with Jesus. One of the main themes of the album is death, how everything is growing colder and is destined to die due to entropy, "the great cold death of the Earth" and, eventually, the universe. BTW, this album is very atmospheric, amazing to listen to on a dark winter day, while snowing heavily.
If you could do another Agalloch song from their other grade 10 album Ashes Against the Grain, I suggest Limbs, but really any song from The Mantle and Ashes is amazing. Also, there is no God, but you guys are still pretty cool.
You cant prove there is no God anymore than you can prove there is one. And no it doesnt have to be the Christian God.
When you look around you, you know there is a Creator, Intelligent and respectful of our freewill. We are always destroying the Earth or each other, but know He loves you, and that you are saved by Grace, through faith, not by works. Just saying. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, not a made up religion, but in Him, GOD, and you shall be saved. Rock on though, sick song.
Ephesisans 2:8-9
Woods of Ypres - Travelling Alone please!
A song that has inspired me to this day, tattoo'd on my arm and has themes of religion. Please React, love your videos Vin & Sori :)
zacOtack96 one of my all time favorites
this was a great song. I'm definitely gona check them out more. there are bands you've done I've never heard of that I've been enjoying.
that song has brought me to tears, more than once
This song is truly a masterpiece, as well as the album this song is taken from "The Mantle". That album is definitely one of the greatest metal albums ever, and even one of the greatest pieces of music ever created...ever!!
Oh, Agalloch. I had forgotten about this band and this is probably the best possible pick from them, aside from Our Fortress Is Burning.... Hopefully their next pick is Moonsorrow's Pimea :).
I love this song. I'm not as much of a Black Metal fan as I used to but I love the sound, musicianship, everything... Thank you guys you always surprise me.
As usual, I hope one day you'll review "The Oath" by Merciful Fate, that would be great.
Well okay, that was amazing! Agalloch added to my playlist.
Right??!!!!
So... listening to Sori now. As an Atheist, I don't define myself, my being if you will, as an Atheist. It's a word, it's a word I very infrequently us to let others know that I don't see the need for the existence of a prime mover.
This is awesome !! Please react to Sur l'océan couleur de fer by Alcest .. This is a piece of art .. This song has such soul..
Summoning - Long Lost to Where No Pathway Goes! It’s a black metal band with a very unique style and good lyrics!
THE DAY HAS FINALLY COME
This is one of your deepest videos.
do, draconian - the cry of silence, such a masterpiece.
EPICA - Consign to Oblivion (Live at Zenith)
Very glad you did Agalloch! Many thanks Sori and Vin! Now do "Not Unlike the Waves" by the same band.
So disappointed that I missed this video when it came out as I absolutely love Agalloch and this song ranks as one of my favorites. One of the best live shows I've had the pleasure of seeing. Over two hours of music.
A couple other standouts for me are "I am the Wooden Doors" and "Faustian Echoes".
I would also second the Alcest recommendations if you haven't already gotten to them.
You should check some Sólstafir (even though they sing in Icelandic, you can feel what they try to communicate)(maybe you could make a section reacting to bands that sing in other languages, there are lots of very good bands out there...).
Look at her. She feels it. She feels it... She /feels/ the sounds of her people... You feel it. You can see it in her face. She's one of us. She's one of you you. Yes, you. YOU. US. Homie on the side is too busy trying to deconstruct it intellectually. He's trying to brute force the song's system. She's just feeling it. Look at her. It's almost breathtaking. He grooves, and she shivers. He motions with excitement and wonder, and she looks despondent yet euphoric.
Two complacently different people experiencing the same moment in different ways. That's probably why they are together.
Humans are awesome.
(I found this channel by searching for the song. I'll subscribe until you suck. Sincerely - an atheist)
So glad you guys liked the song. This album is easily in my top 9.
Thank you for reacting to this amazing masterpiece, the album this song is on ''The Mantle'' is definitely worth checking out probably one of the greatest albums ever made, also I would recommend you guys check out Caladan Brood they are amazing atmospheric black metal. They only have one album out so far but every song on that album is amazing, keep up the great work guys.
