@@coleandcharisma - I have glaucoma, astigmatism, and two tears in one eye from a car accident. My vision is impaired especially at night with headlights and streetlights.
I did some research and learned about "Adie's pupil". Adie's pupil, also known as tonic pupil, is a neurological disorder that causes an abnormal response to light in one or both pupils:
The pupil is larger than normal, doesn't constrict in bright light, and can cause light sensitivity, blurry vision, and impaired vision. An ophthalmologist can diagnose Adie's pupil during a routine eye exam by observing the pupil's size and reaction to light.

I suffer from migraines 😞. I have to take meds everyday for it. Unfortunately my headaches can turn into a migraine in a snap of a finger. I actually have a MRI scheduled at the end of this month. I am TERRIFIED. I was suppose to get it done when I was a little girl but the docs said the word Tumer and it terrified me. 37 now and I'm still scared to know. I'm PRAYING it's just showing the scar tissues from the migraines and nothing too serious.

I live with those Ocular migraines...flashing circular lights , light sensitivity, nausea, pain all over . I take only an herbal capsule called Migranol for pain..and rest away from bright lights and noise when i can. Never know when they are going to happen 🤷 My Father suffered with them too and my youngest daughter has them also. So i can definitely relate to what you were going through and it can be quite scary if it is the first time experiencing them! 😔 Almost feel like a seizure would feel, very fatigued afterwards.

I've loved all your hairstyles Charisma, my fave is the long braids & Cole's longer & curly is really cute. I was a live in caregiver to Quad & MS friends. My super power was my strength, especially in my legs because it required a lot of strength to lift both of them. On a rare weekend off (Mother's Day to be exact) I was in a terrible motorcycle wreck, road rash from head to toe & 60+
"green willow fractures" from going off a cliff. At the bottom the bike's exhaust pipe was on my ankle area. I didn't cry, even after seeing myself, until it was brought to my attention I could not feel my foot or leg up to my knee. I was so upset because we did not have definite backup care for my guys. While I was obsessing about how I would care for them, they were working out an Aide for all 3 of us! I healed and family had stepped in to watch over them. I didn't even know their families but I had known & cared for them in a hospital setting for a couple of years. Says a lot about them unlike your families. I never did live in, just house calls after them for so many awesome people with great families. My being sick or injured (or my disease progression) had minimal issues for their care which was great.

Just getting over pneumonia. We take care of him at home and with the help of myself, son and daughter-in-law. I am 74 and I have mobility issues and praise should go to caregivers. It is a hard hard both physically and mentally. We have been together for 50 years and it is so hard to see your soulmate slipping away a little everyday. Taking care of a very physically challenged adult is very taxing for one person. Thankfully, you have two individuals to assist you. Charisma and Cole have spent enormous sums of money moving, buying houses, buying things, and renovating. They need to consider expending their money to pay for some rehular relief for Charisma. We know she and Cole love each other, but being his sole caregiver is absolutely too much for her. Even if they could get 4 hour relieve periods three or four times a week, it wouldbe very beneficial to her and Cole. All of that stress is probably what causes her to still suffer from migraine headaches. Blessings and good wishes to both of them.

I have suffered from migraines for about 30 years since I was in my teens. I have never found a medication that effectively deals with them that doesn't also knock me completely out for a few hours. I've had to go into the ER before because I thought that this was the worst migraine of my life and was worried about an aneurysm like you but thankfully I didn't have that. I'm very sorry that you're also suffering from this they are really really difficult to deal with and extremely painful.

Hi Charisma and Cole. I am glad you recovered from the migraine episode! I am sure it was very scary to experience that!
We have a friend who suffered from severe migraines which required hospitalization at times! One thing she discovered was that eating cheese seemed to contribute to her episodes! She was known for her famous Velveeta Mac &
Cheese! After she gave it up, her symptoms stopped! It may not be the same for each person, but it is important to determine the triggers - as you all wisely focused on finding out! Continued blessings!

That’s terrifying! I’m so glad you ended up okay 💜 I have pots syndrome, and my episodes can mimic strokes. The first one I had, I was convinced I was dying. Fainted, woke up, couldn’t feel the left side of my body. I realized I couldn’t move my legs, and both hands went tingly. Started seeing bright lights in my eyes and my hearing went out. A nurse grabbed me and set me down on a stretcher and hooked me up to an EKG, and I felt something hot start at my neck and run down my entire left side. I started sobbing. I was 14. That was the first of MANY episodes. Now that I’m 21, my episodes more so mimic seizures than strokes, but I lose the ability to speak. After a couple hours I’m totally fine again. It’s so weird! I also get ocular migraines. I’ll see a bright “camera flash” in my eyes, and have blurred vision for hours.

It's refreshing since so many people get so sad and depressing when they hear about my health but when you go through these struggles, you just take things as they come. It's difficult for others to understand if they've been lucky enough to be in good health and they see you as living their worst fears but I think living with health issues and disabilities comes with a lot of acceptance and just wanting to be grateful for the good days.

I’ve had one migraine in my life which was just this year back around the middle of June. There were no warning signs as it was early in the morning when I was waking up, actually I wasn’t supposed to be getting up that early, it woke up up. I wasn’t sure what was going on but I knew something was wrong as I couldn’t read things around my room. It was so weird and maddening because I knew I was suppose to be able to read certain things at my age of course and the light was horrible too. My head was throbbing. I also was wondering if I was having a stroke too. My brother had a hemorrhagic stroke as well right after he turned 33 in 2018 so that was kind of scary thinking back to what that was like. I called my mother at work who told me that it was probably a migraine. Thankfully, I fell asleep and woke up hours later feeling much better.

Chronic migraine sufferer here.... you can definitely try to control your triggers, but it doesn't always work. Like one of my biggest triggers are certain scents, like perfumes, colognes, lotions, the smell of citrus, etc. I can't control what other people wear, and I have certainly had migraines triggered at the store because of someone else's perfume. Also, fyi, migraines don't always have to be accompanied by severe pain (though they usually are). Even a mild headache can be a migraine if it comes with nausea and / or light sensitivity. Thankfully I've never had a migraine as severe as Charisma's, but my younger brother did...he had temporary amnesia for 3 days due to one, once.

I had the very same situation! But before that light showed into my eyes, I lost vision in my eye- it was pitch black. Half of my body was weird and I struggled to speak. I was at work, got up, went to my manager, and said that there was something wrong with me, I can't see, I think I should go to the doctor. I am almost sure that he didn't realize how I was, maybe he was thinking that I was faking a bit and I just wanted to go home. I started the work just recently through an agency and people from agencies tend not to take their jobs seriously because there are that few week time where you or your employer can just end the contract- no consequences.
Anyway, he told me that I can go home, so I was walking all by myself- don't remember much, found the closest doctor (it was 25-ish min walk) I don't know how long it took me because my memory is foggy too. I thought that I might have some sort of seizure- which I never had before, migraine either.
The doctor right away said it was migraine and he was very annoyed with me that I didn't know that and came to waste his time. He gave me a prescription and told me to go home- another 35-minute walk.
I remember being a burrito in the bed, fully covered, and asked not to touch me, because it hurt me. I slept till the morning when I had to go back to work- but I promise you, I don't remember if I went to work or if my friend called my work and said that I was in no condition to even move.
I am not sure but it was around 8 years ago, I was 24 too! Never happened since.
I can understand you so much. :D
Worth mentioning, I was living in the UK- not my country (been there fo about 2 years atp)(I am from Poland). English is not my 1st language and I had to go through all of that on my own, without my family. I called them later- they were very scared :(
I am so glad that you were alright after a few days 💞

First off LOVE your hair Charisma it's so thick and healthy! I have been debating on getting a Dyson as well! I am so glad you are doing better! Going to the ER and being admitted to the hospital is beyond scary, I've had my fair share of experiences. I used to have chronic ear infections that was always associated with a "sinus infection", my hearing in my right ear started to decrease and then years later excruciating migraines as well as flu like symptoms, had a CT scan and MRI where a mass was detected and I had a brain tumor, two brain surgeries later and after 25 radiation treatments, I am now doing well and just had a baby via IVF 5 months ago! I am so sorry you had to experience that and thank you for telling your story, so glad it was not a stroke! Love how you all love each other

"Yeah, unless you're having a complex migraine apparently LOL!" Considering all the concerns she expressed.. that was a great zinger, Cole 🤣. Most people can't say the months backwards any faster than Cole just did. But seriously you two are such a loving amazing couple I'm so glad she wasn't seriously ill. Isn't it weird that you were being tested right at the time you needed help... Kind of lucky actually.

I feel your story, I also have Complex Migraines that present as a stroke. The first time We found that it wasn’t a stroke right before they gave me the stroke medicine.
I’ve had 5 since 2020 and it’s terrifying every single time!

I have chronic migraines and have had a few complex migraines. I'm glad you had supportive people and doctors because one time I went to the ER and they completely downplayed it. Paperwork said "bad headache".
And Cole, yes medication is available for migraine prevention and stopping it, but I've been suffering for YEARS. I used to get them daily. Its hard sometimes bc I just wake up with them. I have triggers I avoid, but medication is not 100% successful.

You and Cole are such a very caring couple. And are teaching others how to be caregivers as well. Even though charisma is the main caregiver. It seems like you got a chance to experience Cole being there for you. And it sounds like he was there 💯 awesome. Take care y'all ❤

So glad you’re well. I remember in my first apartment, the laundry room was in the basement with very bright overhead lights. Once when I looked up as the lights, it triggered a purple shower of flashing lights for several minutes that scared me soo much! I couldn’t see anything except for the lights! It happened about 3 more times before I went to the ophthalmologist and he said it was the auras of a migraine. ‘So weird. The doctor said that thankfully, it was ONLY the aura. 🙏🏼

How Scary for both of you. I'm glad it wasn't something recent. My 1st migraine was a shock to me in my early 20s. Extremely nauseous and had to just sleep in the dark. Birth control pills were the contributing factor.

Oh man. I went through this with my husband this year. I was working at a hospital close to an hour away from where he worked, and he called me to inform me he was in ED with left sided weakness, and his speech was dysarthric. I rushed to the hospital as fast as I could, worried it could be a stroke. Turns out he also had a complex migraine. He'd only ever had visual aura migraines prior, so a migraine didn't even occur to him either. It was scary.

That’s crazy! I remember being a senior in high school and my face went numb on one side. I thought I was having a stroke! It turned out to be a complex migraine but I remember how terrifying it was and how difficult it was to find answers. I’ve never heard of anyone experiencing the same thing so I’m really happy you shared your story. I had several of them later when I went off to college, but haven’t had one in a while. Hard explaining to people that half your body is going weak, but “don’t worry, this just happens” 😂
