I got 10 dollars used mirror from junk yard and made a metal plate. Convert a wolfbox T10 and a Toguard CE70. Both are looking good. Thanks for your video.
I really wish these higher end Mirror dashcams included a headlight input trigger to dim the screen down to a user settable level at night (brighter screen in the day), or to just turn the screen on at night and off in the day and use it as a regular mirror in the day. A ambient light sensor would suffice for the screen dimming, Another cool feature would be an alarm trigger wire. You could tie into an alarm's proximity/ shock sensor or even a horn to record an event. There are times the internal parking mode g-sensor might not detect something that would otherwise set off a car alarm. A trigger tied to the alarm sensors would force the camera to record anytime the alarm goes off. Or by using the Horn, anytime you honk at an incident while driving (which is a natural reaction 90% of the time) the dashcam would again forcibly record a clip. Just two ideas I've often thought of when using my mirror dashcam.
Hi HAMMER! a yes the V5 Pro does have an ambient light sensor to automatically adjust the brightness (so far the only dash cam mirror I have found that has it as mention in my full review for it) but I do like the trigger wire idea to interface to an alarm system (would probably require dash cam manufacturers and alarm manufacturers to agree on how that trigger wire would work and when and what alarm systems would include a trigger out, the horn idea would be the easiest assuming the alarm triggers the horn), will definitely mention this to the dash cam manufacturers I'm usually in contact with. Cheers Bud!
I bought this and installed it myself and so far I’ve been very happy with it. It looks stock. I have a Subaru with eyesight so mounting dash cams that don’t get in the way of the optical cameras is a challenge.
Nice! Yeah this dash cam is definitely a hidden gem in my opinion, people often think it came stock with my car (and on a side note Auto-Vox is an OEM supplier for car makers that use LCD mirrors) Congrats on your new mirror dash cam Mark, Cheers!
Hi Alex great video. Do you have a video that specifically gives more details on how the parking mode works? I cannot figure out how it works. So its on and set on low. When you leave the dash cam on it still continues to record even when you park and exit the car. It does not automatically shut off . Question 1. When you get out of the car if you switch the dashcam off with the off button on the underside of it and lock the doors. If there is a bump will it record still? Question2 - . When you park do you stop the recording so the red dot is no longer there but leave the dash cam on so the parking mode will work? When I do so I notice the screen is still on and the camera still transmitting. Won't this drain the battery? Question 3. Can you do a video on how to set the parking mode so the dash cam goes off when you leave the car so the battery doesn't drain but will come on if something happens. Also when I tested bumping the car it starts recording but keeps on recording. Should it not stop after a while. I want to use the parking mode but just don't know how to set and use it so the battery doesn't drain. Thanks
Thank you! Ah yes regarding parking mode, the screen should turn off automatically when the car is turned off and the dash cam should enter park mode. I would have the installer check all the connections (ACC, BATT & GND) to confirm that they connected to the correct locations for ACC and BATT (I seen cases where the dash cam stays on constantly and does not enter park mode if ACC and BATT are reversed or connected to the incorrect locations that does not provide power at the correct time for both ACC and BATT) Here is my follow up detailed hardwire install if you want to see that process ua-cam.com/video/K2iKXj82354/v-deo.html Cheers!

Hi from the UK Alex. Just found your channel on here. Great content and deffo gonna check out your other reviews 👍. I've been looking at mirror dash cams for some time but most are not suitable for my vehicle (SAAB 9000 Aero) for one reason or another. This dash cam looks great as its direct mount, although I'm not sure if it will work on the SAAB as the OE mirror mounts to the ceiling instead of the windscreen. Other than that my other question is how does this function as a standard rear view mirror when the LCD is off? The OE mirror is the type where you can flick a lever on the mirror to prevent headlight dazzle at night. Can this mirror do this, or do you have to turn the LCD rear view on and use the auto dimming feature? Cheers
Hi David! Thank you! and yes here is the full review video for it ua-cam.com/video/Yk2EEacXZ7g/v-deo.html where you can see how it looks when the LCD panel is off (reverts back into a mirror) I always use mine with the LCD panel on but yes some people do use it like a normal mirror (LCD panel off). Regarding glare from headlights, there is no secondary mirror built in (the lever you are referring to) Since I use mine with the LCD panel on I don't get much glare since I'm looking at a video screen not the actual reflection but if using it as a normal mirror then yes the potential for glare is there for sure. Hope this helps, Cheers!
Can you use this as a regular mirror while driving? I wanted a front camera to help me park but dont want another monitor on the dashboard. Do you think this is a good choice for that or what would youu recommend as you've reviewed so many products? Thank you in advance. ❤
Hi Trang! Correct, you can use it with the screen off (so it works like a regular mirror) while still recording. But yeah I would say a mirror dash cam is a good way to add cameras to your car while avoiding a secondary monitor.
