The Tubes are one of the most underrated and unappreciated bands ever! This album "The Completion Backward Principle" was one of the most unique albums from the 80's but no one besides us Tubes fans even remember it . To Bad because just listening to it now, reminds me just how bad music is today.
...thanks for posting this terrific piece...the tubes were simply the finest band of there generation...constantly coming up with fresh ideas that kept them relevant in music...punk before punk, funk and rock seemlessly blended...fantasticly inventive...still cutting the mustard 35 years on...long may it be so...
Thanks a lot!!! Completion is one of my favourite Tubes albums. I saw this show live somewhere in the 80's and I have a VHS copy in the wrong US format so I'm glad I finally can see this awesome release.
Close to 50 years later Mr Hate seems as relevant as any time of humanity. Caring, Empathy, Love , Forgiveness should be simple life traits to follow, unfortunately America Hates and Goes Home. With the extreme political divide in America it seems so very relevant today. While it would be far easier to take out a scale and agree to disagree far too many Americans are Mr Hate.
thanks for posting, I love the tubes I agree so underrated and yes so much music currently is as pleasurable as catpiss, these were some of my favs saw them in Denver 1983 I think
@RettroDood Hey. Wanna add my voice of gratitude to the others... Being here in Australia I'm the only Tubes fan I know and I've been looking for this video ever since I was foolish enough to return it to video store I rented it from. It was so long ago they still had a card catalogue!! I was maybe 12 years old and it effected me. So thanks. I never thought I'd see any of this again....
The last time I finally found "The Completion Backward Principle" video part 3, it was deleted for some reason. If you have the full video, could you please post it on you tube? It would be great. I would really appreciate it, if it's not too much to ask for. Thank you.
RETRODOOD: Could you put links to all the parts of this incredible video montage in the INFO section? Gotta point all the masses to the genius that is Waybill...
I remember when they did all this on video in the 80's. The first time I saw it I was like " WTF is this shit ? " After that I was hooked. These guy's are some of the best Studio Musicians. I love the video part of Mr. Hate. Too bad the audio on here is shit right before Fee start's shooting. " I'm not gonna wash your dishes anymore. I'm not gonna fry your burgers. You never understood me any way. You won't catch me. I wont give up. You'll never take me alive." Gotta love it !
Hi T4T. Just llook up my channel. All parts are there! I agree, this band was/still is Awesome!! I'm hoping for a DVD release of this soon. Alas this lo-fi VHS copy is all I have for now. Check out parts one and four. "Sports Fans" and "Business" are my personal favourites..... perhaps because they were never released on L.P. I doubt if "Sports" will see the light of day again. (read my comments on that particular vid...) Enjoy... (and "have a good time...ALL the time!!)
@yakridersky Yes, the come to The Netherlands every 2 years. last time they we're great. The Tubes now features some original band members like Prairie, Fee, Ray and Roger
sorry i sound like a twat ! but the reason i'm not gonna wash your dishes doesn't come out is because its in mono . not stereo and fee's spoken part is in the left side of the mix !!! god what a twat i sound like !!!
Two outstanding songs connected by that brilliant change of rhythm at 2:23 . The Tubes were real kings of groove

What an underated band. Fine musicians and a real vision. They would have been great now with their power of the 70th and 80th.
I was a Tubes fan since first album still like them the comedy 😂 and the 🎶 music
Great musicianship. Ahead of their time in terms of pop rock music.

Sad things turned out the way they did ... great band (Prairie is one of the best rock drummers of all time), and this album was INCREDIBLE.
Just the best !!!
MOST FUN SHOW IN kcmo...EVER....AND ENTERTAINING AS ALL GIT OUT....!
Maybe a not so well known factoid is that the Australian film director Russell Mulcahey directed this.
Man this stuff is great!!
Thanks -- fantastic to see this again after all those years!

I have this album on vinyl- I have also seen these guys live a few times.
My band is looking at possibly covering this song- we'll see.

They would never be able to make a concert like this now days because people are too sensitive.
Isn't life grand? Remember when? Pechimu? Spaceba...
Wow I just realized that was a young Cynthia Rhodes at the 8:12 spot of this video. The Actress and wife of singer Richard Marx .
Bass player is awesome. I had this vinyl in high school, but never really paid much attention to the musicianship.
Someone post power tools...............I love that song!
