- From the classic out-of-print "Completion Backward Principle" video of 1981. An incredible band musically, with harmonies to die for, (Waaayy before Autotune), during a period when it was cool to be clever, and before political correctness reared its ugly head.
I will never forget as an 18year old borrowing the VHS from a video store because I loved the album so much. I brought it home and was watching it with my grandmother...full frontal Fee nearly gave my nan a heart attack. I've never moved so quick to turn something off. LMAO

Same, same Dude. Was watching this with my little brother and had to shut it off. He couldn't have cared less...probably didn't notice at all...but I was mortified. Best pure ROCK ALBUM of the 80's. Long live the TUBES!
Just listened to a podcast with Fee, and holy cow, he wasn't kidding. He said he got nude because the models they hired were supposed to, and then said they wouldn't when the time came to film. That made him mad, so he did it instead. Wow. Surprised I didn't have to prove my age to see this. I guess men's parts aren't meant to send anyone on a wild rampage. I was always so proud of their connection to Arizona.

This limited release VHS video screams to be released on HD DVD blue-ray. Along with the full concert from Germany '83 of the 'Outside Inside' tour. That was pure magical times for this phenomenal rock band.
I love the production and song writing on this album. The drums sound fantastic.

For those who don't remember, this is an exact replica of the live stage show that year. I saw the Completion tour at the Greek in Los Angeles, featuring the Wild Women Of Wongo and the naked Fee during "Sports Fans." This uncensored version only appeared on the first pressings of the VHS tape and the Pioneer laserdisc. Future pressings have black boxes in and around the nudity. But that's not the reason to remember this clip. "A Matter Of Pride" is one of the funkiest things the Tubes ever cut!
My Pioneer Laserdisc has little Fee censored.

I have the laser disc of this, and enjoy it from time to time. Met Fee after a show in DC a couple of years ago. Great guy. Great band.
I also have it on VHS, and played it to death in years gone by. Thought I'd capture and upload it before the tape shed too many oxides, and was rendered unplayable! This was the soundtrack to my younger years. Hope to hell it is re-released on DVD soon!
If this was in laser disk format may be a fan with a video edition equipment could place it in a Full HD format. I mean, Blu-ray is more than DVD
this was the best album of the 80's
This album got me through my starving artist period I was living in van next to someone's house & this was my only entertainment I wore out the groves on the record. Learned so much about production from this album. It inspired the song " Waiting on You" find it here Project Kay "Collapse the Wave" Thanks guys ;) here on UA-cam
Tubes put this out sort of 'tongue-in-cheek', but this is incredibly esoteric: an incredibly 'common man' accessible 'believe in yourself' mantra. Tubes are fucking awesome beyond regard.
I rented this VHS from my neighborhood store when I was in high school and was quite surprised by the mature content, such as the video for Mondo Bondage. No warning sticker or anything. Those were the days.
They have to re-release this stuff!
Pioneer reissued this on laserdisc in 1997, right before DVDs started coming onto the market. (It claims to have a Dolby Digital 5.1 track but it's a phony mix- stick with the PCM stereo track.) This was directed by Kenny Ortega, better known for the High School Musical movies.
Hum, I think I've still got this laserdisk sitting around. I may have to go look for it...
I Remember When I Was A Little Boy Back In 1984, I Was Recuperating From A Stomachache After Overeating Cake At A Birthday Party, My Dad Rented The Tubes The Completion Backward Principle Video. I Was Laying On The Couch That Night, I Had No Idea What We Were Watching Until I Heard Think About Me. But I Didn't Think Nothing Of It Until I Heard A Matter Of Pride, And I Turned Around To See What The Tubes Look Like, And I Thought Cool! So I Payed More Attention To Them And Watched The Whole Video. Especially When They Did Talk To Ya Later. I Thought What A Great Show! That Was The Very First Time I Got To See The Tubes On TV In My Life During My Childhood Years. Today, I Have The Video On Bootleg From The Tubes Fan Club And I've Owned It Since 1998. Best Tubes Video Ever Released!
Saw the Tubes last July and it was awesome. They played mostly their 70's and early 80's. Fee Waybill did like ten costume changes including Quay Lude.Still a little outrageous and a lot of fun!

I could swear I hear more drums in this mix then on the original CD. Well, the remastered version just came out, so will get that as well as it's one of my desert island titles.
Robert Heinlein philosophy in the coolest band ever. Rock squared! I'm truly the anti-hippie, but the dynamic of using imagination to foresee the result works better that 50% of the time... Tubes are fucking awesome!

One of my favorite tunes by them, they fuse R&B/ROCK/POP on this tune. Sounds so good.
God, this is BRILLIANT!!! I saw them live at Augustana College in Illinois in the fall of 1983, and this brings it all back to me. I still have the whiffle ball that Fee Waybill batted out from stage during this song! God bless Fee Waybill, and God bless the 80s!

god was this band under-rated! these songs are still good! 30 years later! The tone is a bit dated, but the spirit is there! And the lyrics and melody are just as current! Tube rock forever!

i wish i could have met my wife at one of their concerts! We did okay anyway,, but this would have been the icing on the cake!
He said "I wanna find out if this love is really real" in the vid but the recording is "I gotta find out..." hehehe OOPS. tubes were one of the coolest bands in their day.

Shamefully underrated band
Gloriously perverted images for a generally theatrical yet notoriously cheeky and mainstream group of theatrical recluses.
Tubes were artjokesters master musicians...I used the Completion Backward Principle self help program in the 80s and repeated classes I passed! I also became nearsighted in my third eye! Ultimately I lost my official 3rd Reich swizzle stick in probate court!
Preferred the early stuff but this is OK.
It still is The Tubes.

Great band musically, and always entertaining with personas and costumes. Locker room scene is cheesy and I love it!
The Tubes will always be my favorite band, but I am rather P.O.ed with Fee. We knew each other for a couple of years, & he's heard a taste of my singing. The band has met me, & I was told that they would get me in on their next album, as a session singer. But- Fee has bollixed that up, & basically told me what a schmuck I was for believing him.

I wish more guys would get nude on vid like this. Why should it always be women who are completely nude, like in 95% of all R rated movies?? You have a lot to have pride over, Fee. Oh yeah, and great song, great band. LOL

This band was GREAT before they had commercial radio success and still is a great band to see live now. They still tour. I think their best work was in the seventies. Find and buy the album "White Punks on Dope"[remastered] from 2004. It is the first and second (Young and Rich their best work in my opinion) albums from The Tubes. Also look up "What do you want from Live" from 1977 I think. Not available on CD in it's entirety yet, but one of the best live albums if not THE BEST EVER!

@RettroDood Actualy, I recall that a number of the more visualy oriented acts of this same era were making similar music video anthologies. Like I also remember that ELO had one out ( titled ELO ), Alice Cooper had one ( titled The Nightmare), Blondie had one ( Eat To The Beat ) and Devo had one too ( Men Who Make The Music ). This one I remember seeing on late night cable television in 1982,... pretty mind-blowing !

Yep. Way back before political correctness, music videos were considered "art".
Consequently, "The Tubes Video" escaped the censorship radar.
Russell Mulcahy (who produced this video extraveganza), also produced a bunch of Duran's videos, (Girls On Film etc).
I guess he figured if he could get away with showing girls, sliding around in shaving cream, mud, and rubbing ice on their bazookas, he could also get away with displaying Fee's shlong!

As fucked up as this is, is has worked for me more often than not. Perhaps it is 30 odd years of study, but I was a Tubes acolyte in the 80's, and to this day, the completion backward principle, is applied diligently, and without recklessness, well, it works! Positive imaging and all that, but really, from the Tubes? Awesome. Zappa-esque philosophy, quantum reality, the Tubes are zen of the pop-rock stage band.

Good Album along with Outside /Inside but I prefer Remote Control and Love Bomb especially the 2nd side of Love Bomb listen to the bass and drums on it amazing.
