Jesus christ look at the state of him...What makes it all worse is that for the past 5 years or so people were giving Aleksi so much shit saying that he couldn't play like he did before and that he was a shadow of his former self, but now we know that he was seriously struggling with health issues for many years. He was practically dying, yet he never told anybody, he never let it stop him from touring or making music, he never took a break, that's commitment right there. RIP Wildchild.
I was waiting for him to show up 3 hours before the event started. Only like 25 people were there. Apparently one of the store owners told him I was waiting that long. So after it was over, i got to talk with him for like 10 minutes, at the end he gave me a hug, and it sent a chill down my spine. Hes always been a small guy but he felt so weak, it waas like hugging a skeleton. It fucking tore me apart. Hes my childhood, him and Eric Johnson. The reason I play guitar.
@@EdHandal I agree. What a warrior until the end. It’s just really sad. He did look really well in his recent live performance with Bodom After Midnight. Looked like he put on weight, his playing was amazing and voice sounded great. Such a shame. Thanks for uploading man!
He also fucked up his collarbone for 10 years; said he wasn’t able to play like he used to. Despite all the health issues, he still delivered until the end. Played all these shows for us when he should of taken a long brake. We have to give him credit for that. Music was definitely a passion for him. Could tell he enjoyed being on that stage, especially with Bodom After Midnight. He looked super excited to start something new. May he Rest In Peace. Dude is truly a legend
Everyones like, look he stops drinking and this is what happens to him.. durp. Its like nah, he had to stop drinking cuz thats what hurt him. My guess and feel has been a thyroid issue from drinking, all relative symptoms and cause. Lets see if I'm right but either way this dude is my favorite artist that I have a whole story of life about of importance to me. love Alexi n his music so damn much
Literally one of the greatest guitarists of all times. In sickness and in health he was amazing thanks for sharing this video 🤘. Rest In Peace and power Alexi.
I saw him in Santa Ana back in 2019 during the Hexed tour. When Bodom broke up a few months later, I hated the band, but now I understand that they were trying to get Alexi to stop touring and retire. Alexi could never be stopped, he could never kept down until the very end. Rest in Power, Alexi.
@@ragztheking: I personally believe that this is the truth. All members of Bodom never gave up music even though they said they were quitting to "spend time with their families." However, they've all joined new bands.
Quite honestly this is my most favourite song of COB, might be because it hurts me the me the most, allso sounds the best to me. Man knew he was on his death bed and still he threw all he got into this song as a last encore, at least that's what I feel about it. Allso crazy how he just improvises at the points where he can. My absolute favourite Metal: band, metal person whatever you could call it, it still hurts to know he's not here anymore, I love a lot of musicisions and a lot of them passing have hurt me, but none that hurt me as bad as Alexi. May god be real, because you deserve it❤❣💔
Man, I remember hearing about him doing this after had already got to San Antonio just before the show. I was so sad I didn't know he was gonna be at Sam Ash, otherwise I would've gone.
How many of these events passed by with only 'few' people in audience while he might've felt bad and ill. Yet he still rocked his job thru,. and how many are watching/searching these clips now and listening again CoB albums when he isn't here anymore to get a credit and respect he deserved. I remember people calling him names without knowing that he had anxiety disorder. Especially affected at younger age. He didn't deplore, he did music and refused meds. Meds would've affect the art, at least what was heard from him. Alcohol was the escape (and some meds later on). I feel so bad. He couldn't eat much because of pain and due to his condition, nutrition didn't sink in & he got even more fragile. Downward spiral too soon too fast. Damn it. Whatta waste of huge talent. Too many factors caused it. Rest in Peace Markku Uula Aleksi Laiho
@@ragztheking He had a cocktail of insomnia medication (cause the dude had issues sleeping), painkillers (probably to help with the excruciating pain that often comes with sclerosis of the liver), and opioids in his system when he died. I think those were all medications that he was on for a reason, but I'm pretty sure he was drunk when he died. It's just so sad to realize that his addiction overtook him. Definitely makes me more aware of the cost of addiction.
Damn, I’ve never heard Alexi play so sloppily before. I feel bad I know what alcoholism does to you. Luckily I’m 3 years sober. I miss his music and attitude. See ya later man. 🤘🏻
Promised to upload this almost 2 years ago and forgot. My bad. Rest in peace you metal Legend.
When was this filmed??

Is this true?... did they say they broke up as an attempt to get Alexi to retire & take it easy??

Gotta Love the Bada Bing shirt
He looked almost anorexic here.. so sad to see. The world lost a phenomenal musician.
This was in san antonio right? I was there and have a pic with him wearing the same outfit. RIP Alexi
Yes San Antonio.

When is this video taken? 2019?

Makes me think of Mick Mars how skinny he looks
@Bart Lee you again!! Lol hope you doing well fam!
@Bart Lee thats good 2 hear bro! Im almost done with my album as well!! And i forgot too. Maybe on a Hatebreeder song or something lol
What was the real cause of his death?
Alcohol-Induced Liver Degeneration. His addiction took him to the grave, he drank himself to death :(
@@carterguitarrr8090 ... soo does that mean prior to death he was still drinking heavily up until his passing? Was he drunk when he died???
